Turgeon said the banner rumor is false and that it happened because he told Juwan "don't talk to me"

Says he called the Big Ten and said he's not gonna take it anymore after the first two games

I assume Coach T was referring to Hunter Dickinson's attitude and flexing towards the Maryland bench in the first game.  Not sure about the 2nd game, I didn't watch that one.

As for this most recent blow up, seems Coach T overreacted to Coach Howard talking to an official while standing outside the coaches box.  Probably some frustration that built up over the course of the 3 games (aka ass whoopings) and Coach T let it out at an awkward time that didn't make much sense.  Then Coach Howard responded with more aggression because he "grew up in southside Chicago" and he was always taught to defend himself, especially from a grown man who is charging you.

That is what I have gathered from the video in the previous thread titled "Juwann ejected".  Pepper Brooks posted a post game press conference video where Coach Howard went into great detail about what happened from his perspective.  The video is near the top of the thread so it isn't hard to find if you want to watch it.  Only 3 minutes long.

This right here. 100%. Not only did he not own up to anything, but he said nothing in that interview except "all I said was don't talk to me" and then went on about how the big ten knows and the official knows because its been going on for 3 games and he had to stand up for himself and for MD basketball. Stand up to what? If you were such a martyr during this obviously uncharacteristic display, then what did Juwan say that made you feel you needed to stand up for yourself and your program? He just looked at you and you said "Don't talk to me" and then he made a bunch of mouth movements that looked like speaking on camera, but never did he say any words? Get the fuck out of here talking about how you didn't say or do anything, but then not even mentioning what happened. Guy is clearly guilty of something to get under Juwan's skin. He didn't even try to pass it off as being a misunderstanding or Juwan hearing something, just stuck to his guns about being the bigger person. Wild to me, not at all sure if that's what actually happened, but I find it hard to believe. Also, Morsell was more than involved, so clearly more took place than him riding away from the instance on his high horse

Man, is there legit video and audio of it?!

He really knows about the banner rumour pretty quick for not saying it...reporters didn't even know what he meant when he said it wasn't true.

It's going to be hard to know for sure without some official in-game audio. I don't believe either of these explanations. The "don't raise the banner" rumor was started on twitter by some random account with like 15 followers, hardly a reputable source. And Turgeon's explanation seems like a hand-waving "don't look into this too much" description of what went down and why.

I have a feeling that Morsell was the instigator in all of this; that punk had been yapping and playing rough all game with Smith/Brooks/Brown. Even when Howard got the double-tech, Morsell was taunting him right in front of the officials.

The truth always comes out eventually. He gave a pretty classy post game interview, crediting Michigan for being an incredibly well put together basketball team. He raved about the ball screens from our bigs and the play of March Smith. Apparently, he felt like there were some injustices that came from Michigan towards Maryland in the previous two ball games...  he reported them to the Big Ten office, who knows what they were and what came of this.

Assuming what he said is accurate (and for now I will give him that), I can respect what he said in the interview.  I know the first game, Hunter was talking junk b/c he felt disrespected for not being recruited.  They can put that on us but that's a player talking.  Also, Morsell and others did plenty of talking in the first two games.  I don't remember anything between the coaches or staffs.  I respect that Turgeon kept it private until now but if he was complaining about players talking trash, then that seems a bit whiny going to the league office especially watching Morsell play all year.

Yeah, that would be consistent with Coach Howard's explanation.

Howard was out of the coach's box. Turgeon rules lawyered that as Howard shouldn't be allowed to interact with anyone including Turgeon (and certainly the refs) until he went back to his box. Howard thought Turgeon was being petty. Turgeon, like an intimidated chihuahua, overcompensated which Howard interpreted as aggression.

Shitshow ensues.

Turgeon probably whined about same things in previous two games which he lost, probably misattributed in his imagination to Michigan getting favorable ref treatment due to Howard breaking the box rather than simply being a better coach.

Consistent with everything we've seen.
