Plus, Michigan was on a roll and winning the game. Why would he just randomly get mad then?
Looks like this one will turn out to be a big nothing burger. The man that was the most wrong seems to know it.
Any idea on how to watch Juwan’s presser?
Right, THAT’S what set Juwan off . . .
You gotta love how nobody in the media asked a follow up to what exactly happened in the first two games except him getting his ass kicked up and down the floor
This was infuriating. Even if you get stonewalled, someone ask the question!
Stonewalled? I think you mean Harbaughed.
The cutest part is that the MSM wonders why they're becoming obsolete.
Should've asked a follow-up for sure. But if you read this board long enough, most people seem to prefer reporters like Angelique, who has never asked a confrontational question in her life. People want passive reporters when it comes to Michigan and interrogators when it comes to other teams. People have very confused ideas about the media.
That is the best story he could come up with in 20 minutes? Come on man, my four year old tells better lies than that.
If it's true that the league was already aware and it turns out to be Michigan's fault I wonder if there could be a fine or suspension of Howard.
NOT SAYING IT SHOULD HAPPEN as we only have half the story right now. and they are claiming that it's Michigan who was the ones running their mouths in both the first 2 games and was reported to the conference for it. and Turgeon using the I haven't seen something like this in my 34 years of coaching I do things right bullshit response when asked.
Hopefully, Howard can add some clarity and wonder if the conference will step in with fines/suspensions
HD was definitely talking shit. but we know why. he wanted to put it into turgeon's face. i don't think anyone else on UM talks shit. morsell is another story.
"If it's true that the league was already aware and it turns out to be Michigan's fault I wonder if there could be a fine or suspension of Howard."
What was Michigan's fault? Howard was ejected for two Techs, there is no "fault" to be applied. A suspension after the fact? My goodness, many would argue an ejection wasn't even warranted. I do not understand this comment.
"Running their mouths"...welcome to B1G basketball.
I’m sure the truth lies in the middle of that somewhere.
Turgeon DID mention that he tried to be as professional as he could. I forget the exact words but it does suggest how easily tempers flare in the heat of a game. It's not amazing confrontations happen but how rarely they happen.
No one tells Juwan not to talk to him - should’ve known better...
And, no one tells Baby to sit in the corner.
Unless you have more information than this, you're better off not posting anything. What banner rumor? What is he not taking anymore?
He may not be taking any more post game interviews after B1G games / because his tenure at Maryland has been quite disappointing
nobody in college basketball does less with more than mark turgeon. been saying for years that he is the worst coach in the big ten.
May not be worst, but most overrated.
I still don’t know why Juwan was all the way over closer to their bench than ours. He needs to learn to cool it regardless of what other coaches say / do before he gets suspended.
The broadcast said he was initially walking towards his own players motioning to his head.
What evidence other than this one incident where no one knows what happened do you have that Juwan needs to "cool it"?
I found that fact surprising as well. He seemed to be walking towards the Maryland bench. He didn’t see angry and maybe innocently wanted to talk to their coach about getting the guys together to not be chippy, in a sign of sportsmanship. But even if his intentions were good, approaching the other bench is a no-no in the heat of a game.
Play had just ended after a foul call in the corner near the Maryland bench. I believe Juwann was trying to pull his team back toward the Michigan bench because he knew there was a lot of shit-talking coming from the Maryland players and bench. I have no doubt that Juwann was yapping a bit himself at this point and you can see Turgeon talking back before he turns and starts walking toward Juwann and gesturing. That's when Juwann went off.
Knowing Howard he will probably be embarrassed and apologize for this, but I have no problem with it. This team had kind of lost its edge at the tail end of the season, and this could be a spark. It's not a near-fatal plane crash, but it'll do.
Not a foul. Refs screwed up a VERY obvious OB on Maryland ball but awarded them possession. Dickinson was definitely pissed off about the call. If anything the Maryland bench was talking shit to Dickinson.
WTF...near fatal plane crash??? Stop dramatizing. Wasn't anywhere near fatal. No one even injured. Not diminishing the event but when you have twins in an accident and one survives for 2 months, then dies....THAT'S NEAR FATAL!.....fuckin moron.
Ahh the classic double standard.
But Tom Izzo parading around all over is cool cuz he's a 23 year vet. Gotta put in the time to earn your keep.
I simply do not understand this type of reply. You would think a B1G coach of the year would deserve a little benefit of the doubt, especially from his own fan base. My goodness.
the banner rumor is from a sparty fan on twitter no one else heard it
I wonder if he's reacting to Juwan's sideline demeanor. He does step onto the court now and then, and maybe he didn't appreciate him crossing the center line? Is that all? Could that be it? He said he's been "doing it right for 34 years", and maybe he sees a new coach who's aggressive and doesn't like it?? I'm just reaching here...
I've seen Izzo nearly trip a guy multiple times with how far he is on the court. Coaches do that stuff almost every play.
I remember at senior night in 2014, Tom Crean physically pushed one of his players to get them to move during live action. That same game John B got a T.
Hahah forgot about that! Classic Beilein, always stirring things up.
I honestly noticed Turgeron stepping onto the floor earlier in the game. All coaches do it a little.
At one point he nearly hit Mazi Smith with his hands as he was upset about something.
Pretty bad story coming from the state of Maryland's highest-paid employee.
Totally believable - right up there with great cons like ‘the dog ate my homework’ and ‘it’s not you, it’s me’.
This is the "banner rumor":
"Turgeon supposedly yelled at Juwan “don’t hang the banner because your banners come down."
The obvious solution to this is to raise the Fab Five banners the night that Maryland comes to Crisler next year.
Cosigned
Cosigned and looking for an investment tab, because I would pay money to see that!
Raise the Big Ten champs banner when Illinois comes to Crisler
Raise the Fab Five banners when Maryland comes to Crisler
which no one is say he said that ....unless some guy on twitter is a legit source now?
I can't believe I care about beating Maryland, but I guess that's what happens when they're a sore loser.
I wish we could beat them three times this year by 16 points a pop.
Wait a minute...
I'm really hoping Maryland is in our region and we give them a well-deserved 4th turdlestomping.
Howard grew up on the south-side of Chicago. I really, really doubt he would flip out over someone saying "don't talk to me."
I still don't see him losing it like that over the banner. And that's something an MSU fan says on the internet. Not an opposing coach of a team we have an extremely short history with.
There is absolutely no way in hell Howard flipped out if that's all he said, dude is lying his ass off.
Does Turgeon actually know what a banner is though?
