Train attempts to ram USNS Mercy in Port of Los Angeles
Now here's something you don't see everyday...

Eduardo Moreno, 44, of San Pedro intended to hit the ship, saying he thought it was "suspicious" and did not believe "the ship is what they say it's for.'"
Big ass ship painted all white. With big red crosses all around. that’s as suspicious as it gets.
Keyser Soze approves!
Some EMU alum just “enlightened” me about some twitter crap going around alleging this is fake because your local hospitals looks very calm FROM THE OUTSIDE. Keep in mind the vast majority of hospitals across the country are barely seeing COVID pts. but the ones that are deep in it are getting smoked ON THE INSIDE.
had to take him to task but I fear my argument was above his level of comprehension.

What the hell!
Pet peeve of mine, but a human attempted to hit USNS Mercy with a train. The train did not do this.
Ban all the trains...when our forefathers wrote the constitution they only meant to protect Horse and Buggy’s. Any amendment protecting the ownership of trains is unconstitutional.
This Supreme Court may very well disagree with your argument and find that trains are people, too.
But "a human attempted to hit USNS with a train" makes it sound like he swung a toy train at it.
I was working in the 80's at the shipyard in San Diego that built the Mercy and Comfort. Actually, the ships were converted from existing cargo ships into hospital ships - quite an amazing transformation. After the first ship was christened, my wife and I went on a tour of it. They are real assets to have all the time, but especially in a medical crisis we're in now.
That’s cool. I guess I’ve been living under a rock cause I had no clue we had these. I’d love to see how state of the art these bad boys are. I bet they’re quite impressive.
They are floating level 1 trauma facilities, every bit as capable as the largest hospitals. Their designed purpose is emergency medical services for combat support, so you know they have the all the equipment needed for that.
+1
Yup, I had a chance to tour years ago and they are amazing facilities to say the least; and being as mobile as they are makes them that more valuable!
He should have known he has to maintain social distance between himself and a ship
Sounds like something from a Grand Theft Auto mission
Rumors are that Eduardo is the cousin to Eddie Bravo. Allegedly.
Which politician had the foresight to write into a law that it's illegal to purposely crash a train? Why would that ever even be a thought?
I suspect the 'train wrecking' charge is something made up by a PR person when put on the spot in front of cameras. It'll be interesting to see f the charges change to something else, or if it sticks and actually goes to court!
Today I learned that "train wrecking" is a Federal crime with a sentencing guideline.
Interesting... so I wonder if this would be considered an act of domestic terrorism. I saw earlier in this thread someone believed the engineer would most likely be evaluated for insanity; as if that's an excuse.
Actually his crime would be excused. Insanity takes away the necessary intent to commit this particular crime. The statute requires that the defendant knowingly committed the crime. If he is truly insane than perhaps the best place for him is in an institution rather than a federal prison.
Driving through Baltimore on I-95 one would often see USNS Comfort (I believe) at a mooring. It is pretty awesome, and there is a positive psychological impact of a big white ship with big red crosses on it.
jesus h
San Pedro, CA. Probably just Kaiser Soze trying to off Arkash Kovash. Unfinished business
To his credit, he only missed by 250 yards.
