Relevant to Michigan as Josh Gattis was thought to be next in line.  Looks like Michigan might be able to keep him one more year.

Huge news. Duke is probably the only team with a chance of poaching Gattis this offseason now (mostly because he's from Durham), but seems likely we keep him for at least one more year now.

maybe if ACC Coach of the Year Dave Clawson is poached away from WF we'll have to deal with Coach Gattis being wooed by his alma mater.  I hope he IS safe with us another year because I think he's really come into his own this year - but talent is always in demand.

Gattis is going to get a well-deserved promotion sometime soon but man I hope he doesn't go to Duke. That unwinnable spot is not a place a guy on the rise should go. That's for a guy like Jason Garrett who is just happy to be employed in a psuedo-high profile job

Funny how he went from being a scapegoat to a hero, much like Harbaugh.   Though last year's coaching shake-up had great results I'm hoping that keeping the band together results in a National Championship and a fantastic 22 and 23 recruiting class.  Also if it looks likely Gattis would leave the year after prepping his replacement.

This is the interesting aspect to this story.  I recognize that successful programs have coaching turnover.  Nick Saban has managed that for years.  But Clemson seemed like it was mostly stable; I can't recall hearing a lot of about key coaching turnover there.  Brent Venables has been at Clemson for almost 10 years, and DC for that whole time.  Tony Elliott has been at Clemson for the same amount of time, but OC since only since 2015 (when he took on co-OC duties).

Anyway, to me the fascinating thing is how Dabo Swinney handles this.

Congrats to Tony Elliot!!

It should be fun seeing how well Dabo can do with out his boys.

Congrats to Coach Gattis, too, for staying in Ann Arbor!

Making the playoffs has made Gattis more attractive to other programs, but making the playoffs has kept him busy during the coaching carousel.  So, we just have to keep making the playoffs every year to keep our assistants.

It's official. UVA has announced it on their verified Twitter account.

I want Gattis to get a HC job, but selfishly I'd love to see him at Michigan until JJ is gone.

Michigan got lucky they're in the playoffs and so Gattis isn't likely to leave while they're still competing.  My guess is he jumps next year if offered.  Hopefully his resume will include "OC for national champion" in addition to the various other accolades he's received.

Gattis should stick around one more year - not just for our sakes, but because the roster will give him a chance to really showcase his "speed in space" scheme. He'll have better HC options after 2021, because our offense is going to be lit AF.
