Title Game Tonight - Who You Got?

Submitted by Perkis-Size Me on

Assuming you're watching the game and not boycotting on account of it being an all-SEC matchup, who you got in tonight's title game? Georgia? Alabama? Or the meteor?

I'd like to see Georgia win if for no other reason than I think it's good for the game to have someone other than Alabama win, but I can't bet against Nick Saban and what appears to now be his fully armed and operational Death Star. Especially now that he's got his whole team buying into the "no one thought you deserved to be here" mentality. I got Alabama 24-14. Georgia's defense plays well but Fromm gets harassed all night and Chubb/Michel can't ever get much going against a slew of defenders who will all go in the first or second round of the draft at some point.

What say you?

Georgia is Alabama-lite.

Alabama eats teams like that for breakfast.

It will look a lot like last year's Alabama - Washignton game.

Alabama by double digits.

In bed by 11:30.

So how do you pick?  Since it's my birthday, here is what I'd like to see happen!

1. Dumbo Finebaum's ears pop off.  Then he only looks like a walking "dick" instead of a "dick with ears".

2. Dirty Kirby is arrested for under the counter payments to recruits.  Turns in Saban for the same in copping a plea agreement.

3. Massive chaos getting into the stadium.  Aftiva hijacks the Alabama bus on the way to the stadium.

4. ABC / ESPN lose sound so we don't have to listen to Fowler

Nothing could be worse than an all SEC final. I’d rather watch re-runs of the first season of Oprah. And I’ve never even watched Oprah.

Saban in an ugly win, like 17-6.  Ratings will suck as who wants to watch another SEC title game between teams that both lost to Auburn who was trounced by an undefeated UCF who didn't even make the playoffs.

Stellar "playoff" system produces games with fizzled-out interest.  At least the Super Bowl starts at 6pm and has awesome commercials even though the games are often a dud.  This CFP title game will be like watching paint dry.

I don't like having this game on a weeknight.  It doesn't feel like a football game day.  I forgot about it until I saw this thread.

Anyway, I think Bama wins, probably by a couple TDs.

And you're delusional if you think that "UGA suddenly is recruiting at an elite level".  Since 2001, Georgia has had 2 recruiting classes ranked outside the Top 10, and they were ranked 11th, and 12th.  Georiga has finished in the Top 8 in recruiting rankings each of the last 4 years.  So UGA has actually been recruiting at a very high and elite level for well over a decade.  I'm not sure how you can think two years of Kirby Smart means that all of a sudden Georgia is somehow paying players to be there, when a lot of the players on that team weren't recruited by Kirby Smart.  I think SEC recruiting can be dirtier than any other conference, but I don't think the success of Saban is a result of him paying players to come to Alabama.  Maybe, just maybe, Saban is a hell of a coach?  You don't have to like him, and I certainly don't, but it's hard to ignore his constant success and his ability to maintain it.

Ranked 12th once and 11th once and top 10 every year for over a decade which included years of being ranked 3rd, and 2nd.  I mean, whatever man, believe what you want to believe, if it makes you feel better to think that every team that is having success is paying its players, go for it, whatever helps you sleep at night.  But any notion that UGA hasn't been an elite program recruiting is just completely false.

I think this game will be closer and higher scoring than people think.  Current line is Alabama -4.5 and O/U 45.  Alabama is pretty banged up on the defensive side of the ball, especially at LB.  And now starting RG Lester Cotton is out for the game.  I think Georgia will have success running the ball against Alabama.  Alabama may have to cheat corners and safeties in for run support and could get burned by Fromm.

I still think Alabama will win but I don't think they'll cover.  Alabama 34, Georgia 31.

I think teams that try to play the way Bama does end up getting beat up and lose.  Teams have very rarely beaten Bama at their own game because they are just too good at it.  Although, considering Kirby Smart was coaching there less than two years ago, he might have some added info which won't hurt, but regardless, I think this one is all Tide...again....boo

Everyone you talk to will say they won't watch tonight's game. It's all SEC, they all cheat, they don't care. However, it's the last chance to watch a college football game for a long time. They will watch.
