Those who stay....

Michigan is a special place. Fans like myself feel it. Alumni absolutley know it. But what is really cool is when players truly understand it. When your players "get it" and pass up the draft to pour their heart into the program for one more year, it's speaks volumes. Senior Running back Karan Higdon is coming back to deliver a B1G title. Senior Defensive End Chase Winovich is doing the same. There is no doubt in Coach Harbaugh from the returning horses of this team. This team is going to prove a lot of people wrong next season. That's not from my mouth. Our kids get the pressure and the situation. They're behind Harbaugh and in 2018 it's going to get done.

The gif plays on many levels of the quote. If you want to neg me for the objectivity of women, that is fair and I'll respect that decision. But don't tell me I distorted something that you don't get the reference to because that doesn't make your horse any higher. The gif played on many levels. The original quote comes from the Austin Powers Goldmember movie. The line is "You have a tight body. Yes, I see that from your tight pants. Yes, your are tight like a tiger."

Was it a dumb thing to post...yes. But it is locked in now.

Thank you for the post! Lots of fans look at Karan’s career so far and wonder why he would even consider the draft. I see a player with excellent speed, strength, and improving vision that fits today’s NFL and will make a great pro. We are fortunate to have have him back!

But, there is a lot of doubt and negativity floating around. Maybe warranted depending on opinion. Our guys are confident though and changes are STILL being made. The best foot will be placed forward this year and this team is going to be powerful and pissed off. You have NFL caliber players at every single position. This is the money year, not only for 10+ draft eligible kids but also for a Coach that they're going to play their tails off for.

No one thought this year was going to be good. Based on one look at the roster, that much is obvious. Where did you insane people come from? Next year will have a difficult schedule but we will be a year older, stronger, faster, and more experienced at almost every position in the starting lineup.

Are two things that are not well received around here when it comes to the football team. I agree with you kurpit. You can sure bet that there will be another sunshine fluff piece by the end of Friday. They are getting very old already. Next up will be the troll card, sparty lover, or hater if people aren't onboard with the views expressed in the OP. But I guess the silver lining in all this is Tarik Black said Michigan would win a NC bacause we got "BALLERS"  Then we can be true fans again. ;)

It may not be what people want to hear but it's the truth. This team is far away from winning a championship of any kind. Thankfully we're potentially getting a significant upgrade at the QB position. If Harbaugh can do the same with the offensive coaching staff we could be in business. But if Pep and Drevno are running things again next year we can kiss our hopes and dreams goodbye.

We were, what, 5-7 in 2014 and the program was going to take years to rebuild and it was in horrible shape and we had become irrelevant, blah, blah, blah.

Then we went 9-2 to start the season and were still alive for the conference title on the last weekend of the year.  Why did that happen?  Three simple reasons:

1) We found a QB. Pretty important position.  So when you go from bad to good, it can do wonders for your team (see MSU last year to this year).

2) Our immensely talented recruiting classes of 2012 and 2013 had become experienced upperclassmen instead of young kids on a steep learning curve.

3) Improved offensive coaching.

There is a high probability that all three of those things will happen again this year in 2018, and we're starting from a much better spot.

I don't think we'll win a conf title because the schedule is tough and we'll probably still have OL issues for another year, but we'll be a top 15 team and we'll be playing for a share of the division on the last weekend. We are not that far away.  We would have beaten the conference champ this year (and the div runner up) if we had even just a below average, but better than horrible QB in those games.

And then watch out in 2019 when all systems will be go.

I deal with investments and the most common rookie investment thought is “I want ALL the upside of the market, but none of the downside”. If that was possible the guru who could do that every time would be on his worlds biggest yaht in the south of France. What some Michigan fans expect that the program should get everyone’s time, energy, and resources poured into the team (upside). When things go poorly for the team you want fans to not have the same passionate or irrational response (downside). These requests or comments are actually more irrational than the fans you complain about.

I hate blind allegiance like this. We haven’t won a Big Ten title since 2004. 2004!!!!!! Twitter and the iPhone didn’t exist! This is pathetic. STFU and let’s win some shit.

Aren't what really matter.

Talent is what matters, and this team is returning a lot of it. I'm not saying this team will be as good as 2016, because that was a team that definitely could(should) have been in the CFP.

But next year's team has a chance to be as good if the QB play is at the same level. Pretty much every position group will be as/more talented than the 2016 team, excluding maybe the OLine. WR's will be much more talented, same with RB's, same with blocky/catchy guys(as a group.... Butt was better than any individual in that group) and the defense will once again be a top 5 unit next year unless injuries hit hard.

whether they're juniors (Gary, Bush, Hudson, Hill, Long, Bredeson, Onwenu) or seniors (Higdon, Winovich).

We'll have a ton of experienced talent next year.  That's how it's similar.

I would argue it's more like the 2015 team since it is more juniors than seniors, but yes, please, get us to the final weekend with a 7-1 conference record and let's see what happens. I will take that.

The 2018 team will certainly be more like the 2016 team than the 2017 was.

Just have to finish The Game. Michigan has played Ohio state even over 8 quarters. The difference has been lack of Michigan level QB play. That is now remedied throught depth, talent and competition. Ohio state knows theyve gotten off lucky that past 2 years. The whole B1G will figure that out in 2018. Beating Michigan with 8 men in the box all Game won't happen in 2018. You have legit early round NFL recievers to deal with....and they will now be without training wheels and armed with a QB that is more Baker Mayfield than we want to let out of the bag.

TheGhostofMM14

Ohio state was fortunate. We didn't have a QB to field against them. Black...DPJ and possibly Nico are all early round NFL talents. Hence the 5 star ratings. Shea was #3 in his class, OVERALL. Watch his film. This is the "Harbaugh" QB we've been waiting for. And Joe Milton is a physical freak.....enrolling early. I get that the post is optimistic but your accusations are a bit much.

Saying that Black, Peoples-Jones, and Collins are all first round NFL talents is just wildly idiotic. Mario Manningham was a 3rd-round talent, Jason Avant was a 4th-round talent, Steve Breaston was a 5th-round talent, Jeremy Gallon was a 7th-round talent, but we have THREE first-round talents that were all true freshmen?

Of all the stupid things people say on here on a daily basis, that is fighting for dumbest I've seen in a long while.

leave you obviously are not a Michigan fan. Go be a Michigan State or Ohio State fan that's what you want to be. Like you said you can't root for a team that has actual fans that like their team and want to be optimistic about the way the team is and the direction the team is going. Heaven forbid that we actually like our team they want to see our team do good. It's not like we are hurting you in anyway because we like to talk good about the team must of us have grown up loving.

Yes we have some good recruits but Ohio State has signed a higher rated class for many, many years in a row.  Not that recruiting stars are EVERYTHING but you're pretending that this talent gap is magically disappearing and now Penn State is right there as well.

I'm not as quick to bitch and moan as some are here because this is still a good team but there is definite warrant for concern.  A lot of what you're saying is just ridiculous but the 1 point you are dead on is that our QB play has been atrocious and Shea could be the answer for it.  I'm not saying he's gonna be Baker Mayfield (because who would really ever SAY that) but he could potentially be the difference maker.  If he beats Ohio State i'll name my son after him

Maybe we had a championship D, but offense wasn’t even east division chip worthy...... I do find Interesting and disheartening is the side of the ball JH is known for has been the weak link. After three years I would have expected the sentiment to be “if we could only have a D match JH’s pro style offense.”

as to recruiting, so if we can get a qb to work out, it still could be the question. Or even had Wilton recovered in a manner close to what you would have thought; 10 wins and 1 save in 11 chances, you'd think we were on our way; I did, but something occurred I still can't answer and I imagine some of those injuries are much tougher than we can even imagine, but I thought he'd be back to the pre-IA form and given a year for the wr to gain a little experience, we would have pretty much been on target. But, agree, we're back at the hope but I think that year will make a two game difference at least and possibly more

What do you mean by blind allegiance? Are you saying you'd rather be a fan who goes and roots for whichever team is winning this year? Michigan just suffered through two consecutive head coaches who were unqualified to coach in a Power 5 conference. Shit like this happens to every program. By your standards there wouldn't be any college football fans left.

Really, who gives a shit? I really just want to watch our team play well so that I enjoy the games. Would any of you seriously abandon Michigan for any other university due to on the field success? No. That's why we get frustrated. It's because we love our Michigan so much. It's not blind allegiance when we express our enthusiasm for our team.

But everything you’ve written in this post has already been said millions of times on this website, this week alone. To be honest, you could have deleted all but the last sentence of your post and I would finish reading with the exact same message as I am picking up right now.

8-5 fan bases will rightly have issues with rah rah posts. I just don't think many realize what's coming back and the potential. 2018 is going to be different. Can't divulge everything but realization is the first key step to fixing self inflicted issues and actualizing potential.
