Super Bowl - Who're You Picking, Who're You Partying With?

Submitted by xtramelanin on

Mates,

Super Bowl LI is tomorrow and our own Tom Terrific and his NE Patriots play the dangerous Atlanta Falcons.   The Patriots are 3 point favorites, though I think the line was 2 points when the game first was set.  Both teams have done well against the spread, 15-3, 12-6 for NE and Atl, respectively.

Also, many folks will make time to attend or host a gathering to watch the game.  If you are like our house, our ladies spoil us with so many hors d' ouvres that we never even make it to any type of main course for dinner.   We all enjoy watching the game, and I suppose like most people, we want an exciting game, not a one-sided blow out.

So, the 2 questions are these:

1.  Who are you picking to win the game, and extra points for 'why'?

2.  If you're going to be watching it, what's on the menu and where/with whom will you watch?

Have a great weekend,

XM

Partying with our friends ay my house in Ypsi. We have a potluck going on. We also have prop bets as well. I borrowed some white boards from my classroom to keep track of the bets.

I have the falcons winning in a shootout.

New England's secondary can actually cover people, and I think on offense there will be a heavy dose of Blount to shorten the game. Besides, when the fourth quarter rolls around in the biggest game of the year, trust the QB who's been there before to make the play....As for viewing, it'll be me, the dog and a few Hopslam. Maybe I'll make some chips and queso and li'l Smokies. Wife and kids usually just check in for the half-time show and the very end if it's close.

I'd like to see Atlanta win but I'd be fine with Brady getting another one and Ginger Hammer handing the trophy to Kraft would be great. Cooking ribs and hanging out with the in-laws and friends.

long ago in college.  [Sorry, sworn to secrecy on details.]

Friend's friend wasn't really interested in football, but we did go out with her and her now husband to watch one of those other Tom Brady superbowls and weren't allowed to bring up her pre-husband history, though it was eons ago.  The husband likes football and the excuse for the get-together watch was that I was from Michigan and obsessed with Brady.

So does it make a difference that it's "cool story, sis" [or, apparently, "un-cool story, sis"]? Which might reflect on the type of details I wasn't actually privy to and, if I had been, would of course only be girl-talk details like, "Golly, were you a freshman or sophomore?  Did you meet him in a class?  Did you go out for pizza?  Did he know you don't like football?")?

I'd root for Brady against anyone except the Falcons (and the Lions for all mylong-suffering friends). Obviously pulling for Atlanta tomorrow. Can't argue with anyone who feels NE will win as they have had the better defense all year and their offense has been very good (though nowhere near Atlanta's). Still I have a very good feeling about tomorrow's game.

I'm going with the Falcons. I don't think the Patriots are going to consistently stop the Atlanta offense and as good as Brady is, I don't think the NE offense is going to outscore them.

Every once in a while I wish I'd taken the time to figure out how to link & embed in these comments. Because right here is the time & place for the shot of Alan Branch towering over the prone psu qb.

NE - 2 Wolverines

Atl - 0

NE wins!!!!!!!

My wife and I are teachers and are having a low key night at home.  We are having hot wings, homemade nachos, and her 7 layer salad.  We are not completely lame.  She will have Cabernet and I will have a couple CC-7's.  Go Patriots.

Watching in Maui just off the beach. Atlanta is really good imo. Rooting for Patriots but think it will be close. TB pulls it off.

brothers and their families. I think the only team that could beat NE in this game is the Falcons. I expect NE to pull it out and cover 36-31. For food we're getting BBQ from a local shop that has won national competitions and wins RibFest in Kalamazoo regularly. Chicken, ribs, pulled pork, corn bread, red beans & rice ... I'm hungry now.

Rooting for Tom Terrific to win a close, high scoring one - for Tom for the W, for me for the bet, for all of us for the entertainment!!

Watching with Dad, bro, wives, guac & chips, pizza, wine & beer a plenty....

Just hanging with family and this dude from Brazil. He makes us watch soccer, so we're making him watch football.

Patriots, of course.  At least one of my sons will root for the Falcons and the other one really doesn't care. Always fun to have one dissenter.

PATS by ten. Tom Brady is too motivated. Going to play at a god like enthusiam unknown to mankind. Im sure the whole team wants to stick it to Goodell.

Yac kills the falcons. Short routes are gonna be turned into 12-15 yards all day. Atlanta will have a burst where they look competitive but it won't be. Pats 41-falcons 24. Never ever bet against Brady and belichick with two weeks prep.

You can pick which ever side you want, but the idea that a motivated Brady with a chip on his shoulder means something is dumb. Remember the almsot undefeated season when they were running it up on teams because of the spygate slight? Ya me too.
