Speight Still Hasn't Found a Transfer School

Submitted by Caesar on

I had heard from a Sam Webb podcast a while ago that Wilton still hasn't found a school and an MLive article says he'd come back if She wasn't in the picture (link). From what I recall, Memphis was an option at one time, but that has since closed up.

Anyway, how would you say this impacts--if at all--the Michigan QB contest of 2018? Are there rules that would limit his ability to come back to the team? Would anyone here be interested to see Wilton back at the helm?

WOTS is that Speight could have played against OSU this year, but did not want to in order to preserve is grad transfer ability. Idk if this is true. Only Harbaugh knows. However, if it is, there is no way I would take him back for bailing on the team for his own interests.

I've read dozens of articles over the past few months on how Speight is leaving the program.  I have yet to read a single article clearly stating WHY SPEIGHT WANTS TO LEAVE MICHIGAN.

We need to play the others.... Some time we got to go with whom we recruited. They all want to play here or some place else

Ran from competition. Not what I would want on the roster. Especially in a leadership position like QB. Cut and run character. He isn’t good enough to pull bs moves like that. Does he think he is Brett Darve with the Vikings showing up after camp ended?

IF Speight comes back, on paper we have more talent and depth at the QB position, and I'm of the thought he'd be the favorite to win the starting spot this Fall.

But here's the problem, Speight bailed on his teammates, he didn't practice for the Bowl game and hasn't been with the team, if he can just waltz back in and win the starting spot, that's not going to be good for morale IMO.

It's ridiculous how many people in this thread haphazardly assert that Wilton abandoned the team. None of us have any idea what was going on in private; what Harbaugh or any of the coaches may have advised him to do for his and/or the team's best interests. The dude put his body on the line for our team. Speight was in the stands during the outback bowl; he did anything but abandon the team. He clearly loves Michigan and his twitter indicates he's still regularly in touch and on good terms with many of the athletes on the squad. I don't know how I feel about Wilton coming back as far as what it signifies for our ability to compete next year, but it's ridiculous to me to say that he abandoned the team when he had his back broken for the team only a couple months prior.
