I trust SI like I trust Rivals for accurate recruiting rankings. Like, the info is there, and there's maybe a non-zero % chance the take is good, but that's about it.

Yes, I'm worried about this as well. I wonder if Dylan is not a good as advertised, or Joe has just exploded and can pass more accurately now. At times Dylan looked good in the cleanup spot but other times he looked so/so. I just remember all the hype about O'Korn that he never showed on the field.

Definitely.  In all my years being a Michigan fan, I don't think I've ever been as frustrated with the QB situation as I was during that period where O'Korn, Speight, and Morris were all fighting to see who could be the most underwhelming.  All 3 guys had been good college prospects in high school to varying degrees, and yet none of them could get the team to the level Michigan needed to get to.  Other bad years, I just accepted the lack of talent for what it was while hoping for better days.  Threet Sheridan were who they were.  As was Michael Taylor/Demetrious Brown.

I tend to agree with you but when I look at the schedule and the play calling up to the Iowa game I also think it may have taken the opposition a few games to conclude that Speight wasn't a long ball threat and everyone started packing the middle.

My observations about Michigan quarterbacking may be worth less than what you pay from them.  I can't figure out what is wrong in a way that would help fix it.

He and Spath were hooked up with Deace on a “wolverines digest” blog type substance tied to SI as of last year.  I never went to the site but heard it mentioned somewhere between the time I found Deace’s podcast online and when I realized he was a full of crap gasbag — (came to that conclusion even before knowing the other nasty stuff about him..)

As for the “article”.....I think I gave more info in my board post repeating what I heard on a Rivals podcast a few days back.  Click bait central at SI these days I guess.

I like both but I was really hoping to see Dylan make that big leap. Looks like Milton took the bigger leap and good for him. Unfortunately, we may never get to witness it.

The Michigan career of Dylan McCaffrey is one of the all-time disappointments for me because, IMO, he is the poster child for the negative consequences of bringing in grad transfers over developing and sticking with your QB recruits. A super talented, smart kid of extremely good pedigree with a big, accurate arm who runs fast...IMO, on any other team in the B1G except Ohio State, he would have been the starter by his sophomore season, or sooner on some teams (like Iowa with the less talented Stanley, etc.). Instead, Dylan arrives during the end of the disastrous O'Korn grad transfer, and then Harbaugh promptly brings in another grad transfer, Shea Patterson, who, like O'Korn, underperforms in most of the biggest games he plays at Michigan. No, not as poorly as O'Korn, but still goes down in Michigan history as being the starting QB for the two worst defeats ever to OSU (and yes, Don Brown and his inability to scheme and adapt to stop OSU shares equally in those losses). Instead, McCaffrey rarely sees the field because the grad transfer QB can't put away the teams we should be beating badly. And when he does come in during garbage time, he performs well but keeps getting banged up on QB keepers while trying to get a couple extra yards. So he spends most of his career at Michigan standing on the sidelines, always waiting for his next chance. At least Brandon Peters saw the writing on the wall and had the good sense to transfer to Illinois, where he has had the opportunity to shine and bolster his NFL prospects. It just amazes me that any top high school QB prospect would choose Michigan given Harbaugh's track record of reliance on grad transfers. Go ahead, talk me off the ledge.

Dylan was going to step in and be the starter last season after a few games, but got hurt repeatedly so they rolled with what they had. Dylan will be the starter when Michigan takes the field next. I don’t know if this info is being leaked out to give Milton some props for sticking around and progressing or if it’s to motivate Dylan to keep progressing. But Milton would not be the starter if Michigan’s season started today or next week or the week after. Milton has come a long way. Dylan is still the starter and will be very good at Michigan.

A source close to the program...lol

Like the 20,000+ self proclaimed "close to the program" people on the internet?

Thank you FOX, where would journalism be today without the clutch phrase, "Some people say"

Good for Milton he's made such leaps, but I swear can we stop treating SI as an actual news source and instead treat it as basically a message board with a nice CMS.  I have zero faith that "sources" referred here are any more reliable than someone who posts on 247.
