The source wasn't someone close to him. It was a bowl game worker of some kind. The speculation about his flight prompted some reporting and that's what it turned up.
Suggesting manipulation or underhanded motives on behalf of a guy who has always kept things close to the vest is pretty low, honestly. He's made up his mind. He doesn't want to make a big deal out of it. We lost. Get over it.
