...sooooo, what now?

It's always tough when your favorite team's season comes to an abrupt and unexpected end.

So what are you going to do now?

I'm genuinely curious. This isn't a "the world is over" thread, though I know for some it can feel that way. But whether we want to or not, whether we like it or not...a lot of people on this board invest a shit ton of time/energy (and sometimes resources) into their favorite teams. People who visit these boards usually more than others.

So is there a new show you're excited to watch? A book? DIY project? More time with family? Maybe a trip?

What's going to fill the void for you? Do you automatically switch into football season?

We've got plenty of time (planning on spring '22 tentatively) but our main issue right now is that neither of us have strong opinions on any of the details at the moment. Neither of us would mind eloping or a courthouse wedding with a party later, but my mom is super sappy and sentimental so I want to make sure we do something a little more meaningful. And while I would have understood if some of my good friends had gone the route of eloping, I did really enjoy standing up for them and being part of their day so I'm looking forward to including them as well.

It'll be fine, at the end of the day no one will remember all the little details as long as there's an open bar so why would we stress about them?

Let’s see. I’m graduating college in May and will start a new job in MRI in a Columbus hospital. I’ll move into my own place and propose to my girlfriend. Life is pretty good right now.

Hope for a good Masters and summer vacation with family.  Looking forward to football, and yes, next basketball season.  Stay healthy and be well mates.

It's prime golf time here in South Central Kansas. I walked 27 yesterday-might again today. My wife and I are vaccinated and so is family in Virginia. We have not seen them for over a year-we will arrive there on Friday-driving. End of April we will hook up our little camper and head to Minnesota. The end of May we go see family in Indiana. In July we load up the two grandsons and the camper and head to the Black Hills. Camping and fishing in Minnesota in September. We've got some catchin' up to do.

The garden needs to get planted. Lots of grass to mow here on the farm. We will have 25 chickens to butcher in May. The ewes have all lambed...should have a couple calves within a couple months.

The unexpected end of both hockey and basketball stuns a bit. I didn't expect either to win it all, but I didn't expect either season to end like it did. Maybe I'll just get my 2nd shot and enjoy going outside for a change

Ordinarily I'd say I'm going to spend more time with my family, but I feel like we've all been attached at the hip for the past year.

I would like to check out Babylon Berlin on Netflix.

We close our fiscal year today, so technically I could dive into the new year, but it's just as likely I'll start looking for a new challenge.

Might I also suggest a MGoCamping trip for you outdoorsy types, to clear your heads.

I'm getting married in less than 3 months and am getting closer every day to being able to buy my first house. It'll be nice putting more of my energy into this and enjoying it for the great moments in my life they are.

Just bought a sailboat.  1985 Mirage 25.

Going to replace the diesel with a 10kw electric, put on solar panels, and replace the lead batteries with lithium.  Plus controller / charger and sine wave inverter - 24v DC to 220/250 AC (motor needs that) then adding a step down to 110/120 for the stuff in the cabin).

Starting with a small installation - 600w at 12v for the panels and 200AH at 24v for the battery bank (two 200AH 12v batteries in series).

Adding a bunch of high efficiency appliances, instant on hot water heater, more powerful water pump, etc - I like my modern conveniences.

Will add to solar and battery banks as needed needed until I can cover all the non-motor kWh with below average efficiency from the solar each day plus a couple hours on the motor.

I know in advance that the electric likely isn’t as economical - at least in the short term - as keeping the diesel - and that it will take a long time to break even on the solar - but I like the idea of being able to anchor somewhere for a while and not need a marina.

Updating the interior as well but that’s mostly cosmetic - removing a door, reupholstering the cushions, replacing the mattresses, stuff like that.  Not going to cost much but likely the most difficult / tedious part - looking forward to the rest (I’m an engineer so should be fun).

Cheers.

I actually somewhat enjoy the summer because it's when basketball recruiting picks up. 2022 guys start making decisions, 2022 guys move around in the rankings due to summer ball, and 2023 guys start to cement themselves

I'm playing fantasy baseball for the first time in a few years. My league's organizer's father passed away this year. He loved the game. So the guy running the league asked all the old players to join as a tribute. The league had been dwindling in numbers, but we got 15 players to return. The league max allowed was 16, so someone pointed out we have an open space where the dad would be. Anyway, MLB starts tomorrow, just in time.

Onto watching Tiger Baseball from a fan perspective.

I am coaching my son's little league team this spring, so that will be interesting.  Looking forward to the summer and hopefully doing a few camping trips with the family.

I used to say "Wake me up at kickoff in September", but now I say "Wake me up at tipoff in November".

Being a Michigan Football fan is exhausting. Being a Michigan Basketball fan is just plain fun.

Turning my focus to the baseball team.  They're off to a good start after 15 games and are in good shape to challenge for a B1G Championship.  Jimmy Obertop has been a monster so far!  Plus, I'm proud of the basketball team and have been thoroughly impressed by Coach Howard!
