Although apparently within the rules, seems like the kind of thing that will be negatively reported on for Harbuagh.  Meanwhile, lots of other teams with academic scandals, questionable recruiting practices... and crickets.

It's not a big deal and is done by other schools as well. Recruits that enroll early can practice with the team after enrolling in school. The most widely publicized one was Jalen Hurts as he was used on Alabama's scout team to simulate Deshaun Watson in preparation for the CFP National Championship Game after only being on campus for a week:

The one I have not seen yet is an early enrollee participating in a bowl game or CFP playoffs. That would be different.

Agreed...  Jim is an Alpha competitor.... when he can push the limits, that kinda stuff drives him.  I actually think the NCAA mind-fucked him a bit when they passed the rule limiting satellite camps.

People shit on him for those antics, but I think that was sincerely Jim being himself, showing recruits that he's willing to out think and out work any recruiter in college football.    Yeah, it sure would be nice to out coach every opposing coach and have a team out play ever opponent too, but it doesn't have to be one for the other.

I was kinda miffed that they didn't better explain the rule in question.  But after thinking about it for, ohh, three seconds, I'm glad they didn't.  Now every other coach is wondering just what the hell!  LMAO!!!  This is the stuff JH did when he was first hired - parse the rulebook for any and every advantage.

This may not help the team perform better, but it's something that sets Michigan apart from everyone else.  And yeah, this will bring haters out of the woodwork, and good for it!

Bo Harbaugh

Sweet. So Harbaugh found a loophole that will be copied by all other schools by next year.

And the SEC, Clemson, and OSU will continue to play skool and pay 6 figure salaries to their roster.

I appreciate Harbaugh looking for every angle within the rules, but getting 5 players 3 early days of practice won't level the playing field and beat the farce of a system that is NCAA football.

In the words of South Park, "Simpsons already did it." This "loophole" has been known for years and widely practiced across college football already. Most notably, Jalen Hurts in preparation for the CFP National Championship game simulated Deshaun Watson after enrolling early:
