Thanks for sharing OP.
As a father of 3 boys, I can’t get through stories like this without getting choked up. I’m unable to fathom the pain of losing a child but my heart breaks for that family. Also, JJ always comes across as such an outstanding human being. How great it is to have him as a Wolverine.

Definitely seems like a great kid.
A low-key CSB re: JJ.
Scene: in a Michigan classroom.
Our friend’s daughter: You look familiar. Do I know you?
JJ: I don’t think so.
Daughter: Are you sure?
JJ: Yes
Daughter: Do I look familiar to you?
JJ: No
Yes, our friend’s daughter is not much of a football fan. I am proud to say my daughter (2026 UM Grad) would’ve known who he was immediately and would’ve texted me about it right away. Our friend’s daughter realized who he was later on.

The nice when the best players are also good people. Michigan has quite a few of those.

Random question...didnt want to create a new thread...
When a player has a nasty injury like a bone break or knee bent complete in the wrong direction and is writhing in pain on the field (like Cleveland Brown Nick Chubb a couple weeks ago), are they given a local anaesthetic on the field or as they are carted off once the med staff has stabilized them and assessed the injury?
Just curious because players often look much calmer and not in nearly as much pain when being carted off. I tried to google, but kept going to articles about chronic abuse of pain killers by football players.

Endorphins kick in fairly quickly to mask the pain

not usually.
the pain usually improves after reducing the dislocation or stabilization of the limb with splinting or something like a knee immobilizer brace. (you sometimes see the vacuum beanbags paramedics use if the leg is obviously broken)
