the secret to an elite team

Submitted by EThos92 on December 7th, 2019 at 10:02 PM

I think the posters on this board have found it.

Just whine and bitch endlessly, every day, forever. Talk about how trash all of your team's coaches and players are and scream about how they should be defenestrated after every bad play or lost game. Fire your coordinators every other season and your head coach every 3-4.

As someone who's also a Detroit Lions fan, I can confirm the success of this strategy.

As corny as it sounds, the past doesn't define the future.

Some people have the mindset that, because we're Michigan, because we have Harbaugh, bad things happen to us and because we haven't won shit yet we never will.

Things can turn around. It's also possible that things don't turn around, but they can. Our best option is Harbaugh at this point, if thinking logically.

Yup, time for a board break. Most insufferable, emotionally reactive, not happy unless they're unhappy, armchair coach "fans" in the nation. I'd rather hangout with OSU fans at this point.

And for 10 of those 15 years we were cycling between coaches.  You’d think this fan base would’ve learned its lesson when they got their wish:  the hated Carr (who regularly won the conference) was replaced by the modern genius RR.  The program promptly struggled to remain bowl eligible.  Beating OSU these days takes either extreme luck or an NC caliber team.  What coach out there is going to do that?  Because it gets a lot worse than this.

No, it's throwing out things that are top 10 and assuming you can easily replace them with things that are top 5.

It's looking at Georgia and LSU, ignoring every contributing factor to their success except coaching change, and completely ignoring USC, Florida State, Texas, Miami, Tennessee, Arkansas, Nebraska, South Carolina, and Michigan's own two coaches prior to Harbaugh.

It is completely ignoring the story of Swinney at Clemson.

Elite programs need great players. However, without great coaches even great players and teams of great  players struggle to win. It takes two to tango...great coaching is the priority.

Well I'm pretty sure it's not blaming losses on refs, bagmen, steroids, academics, etc. Either man up and admit your failures or do something about it. Pretending like everything is just fine is moronic

OL an DL.

Wisc is beating OSU right now with power on the lines.

Wisc is the only team in the big 10 to put more OL in the league than OSU in the last 4 years

The chances of returning to RR level dumpster fires if JH were fired is ~98%.  First, firing him would set off the vast majority of influential alumni and start another civil war within the fan base/alumni base.  Second, the coach wouldn’t be accepted by a majority of the fan base.  Third, considering the overall state of the program today, you better have a clear upgrade ready to sign - and I don’t believe one exists that can actually be hired.

Seriously, he came to a multi year losing team and immediately put it back to a top 10-15 program in yr 1.

Not to hijack the sarcastic thread...

but the secret to an elite team is finding an elite quarterback.  The top 6 QBs in the sport (in no particular order) are: Burrow, Hurts, Tua, Lawrence, Fields, Herbert.  4 out of 6 will be in the playoffs.  One is injured and the other won his conference.

Michigan hasn't had an NFL level QB in over a decade.

I agree.

But it takes both the right qb's and offensive staff. Harbaugh could have done better on that front in his time at Michigan and I think he recognized that and handed the keys over to Gattis. I'm excited to see what he can do next year with McCaffrey. I think Dylan has a higher ceiling than Shea.

Yea but you’re bitching about bitching...so that’s not helpful.

Also, couldn’t you throw this as a comment somewhere?  I’m not sure this needs it’s own thread.

Is this sarcasm meant to imply that clapping like Hoke and having an endless stream of posts by Mineral King that say “come on guys!” is what makes you elite? (No offense Mineral King.)

Because I don’t think that works either. It’s like a blog banner: None of this impacts the teams. We’re really not that important, fellas.

Just shut this board down.

Or at the very least give up this bullshit nonsense that somehow Michigan fans are more evolved than those who root for different schools.

What a fantastic collection you have here.
