the secret to an elite team
I think the posters on this board have found it.
Just whine and bitch endlessly, every day, forever. Talk about how trash all of your team's coaches and players are and scream about how they should be defenestrated after every bad play or lost game. Fire your coordinators every other season and your head coach every 3-4.
As someone who's also a Detroit Lions fan, I can confirm the success of this strategy.

As corny as it sounds, the past doesn't define the future.
Some people have the mindset that, because we're Michigan, because we have Harbaugh, bad things happen to us and because we haven't won shit yet we never will.
Things can turn around. It's also possible that things don't turn around, but they can. Our best option is Harbaugh at this point, if thinking logically.
December 7th, 2019 at 10:46 PM ^
And at what point does he not become our best option? 6 losses to OSU? 7?
December 7th, 2019 at 11:07 PM ^
Offense is on its way with Gattis & smaller/quicker WRs on the way.
Defense is good, but needs to take the next step.
December 7th, 2019 at 10:15 PM ^
Or just write a long post about how there is no way to beat a team who has recruiters who are willing to drive in the snow. That will fix it!
December 7th, 2019 at 10:16 PM ^
I had to Google "defenestrated".
December 7th, 2019 at 10:24 PM ^
All on-line classes for your?
December 7th, 2019 at 10:33 PM ^
I thought he was making some kind of "defense" and "castrated" hybrid word. I didn't know there was a word that literally means "to throw someone out of a window". MGoBlog is adding more to my vocabulary than Business School did.
December 7th, 2019 at 10:16 PM ^
What's the point of this post?
December 7th, 2019 at 10:17 PM ^
We need more oddly specific words like this.
December 7th, 2019 at 10:19 PM ^
I was really hoping to get rickrolled with this post.
December 7th, 2019 at 10:21 PM ^
Yup, time for a board break. Most insufferable, emotionally reactive, not happy unless they're unhappy, armchair coach "fans" in the nation. I'd rather hangout with OSU fans at this point.
December 7th, 2019 at 10:23 PM ^
Go on then, you won’t be missed
December 7th, 2019 at 10:57 PM ^
Sure thing champ!
December 7th, 2019 at 10:48 PM ^
JFC we have no big ten titles in 15 years and you wonder why we're not happy. I wonder if the higher ups think similar to you.
December 7th, 2019 at 10:56 PM ^
If a football team not beating their rival causes you to be so unhappy that all you do is post emotional hot takes for weeks on your team's message board, then there is legitimately something wrong with you.
December 7th, 2019 at 11:11 PM ^
"Harbaugh isn't a great coach, he's a good coach" isn't really a super hot take.
December 7th, 2019 at 11:15 PM ^
That's not at all what our good friend UMxWolverines has been posting for the last week.
December 8th, 2019 at 12:40 AM ^
Plus he’s now upset with Harbaugh because we have lost to OSU for 15 years
December 8th, 2019 at 12:41 AM ^
And for 10 of those 15 years we were cycling between coaches. You’d think this fan base would’ve learned its lesson when they got their wish: the hated Carr (who regularly won the conference) was replaced by the modern genius RR. The program promptly struggled to remain bowl eligible. Beating OSU these days takes either extreme luck or an NC caliber team. What coach out there is going to do that? Because it gets a lot worse than this.
December 7th, 2019 at 10:22 PM ^
Actually the secret to an elite team is making excuses every time you lose
December 8th, 2019 at 6:08 AM ^
No, it's throwing out things that are top 10 and assuming you can easily replace them with things that are top 5.
It's looking at Georgia and LSU, ignoring every contributing factor to their success except coaching change, and completely ignoring USC, Florida State, Texas, Miami, Tennessee, Arkansas, Nebraska, South Carolina, and Michigan's own two coaches prior to Harbaugh.
It is completely ignoring the story of Swinney at Clemson.
December 7th, 2019 at 10:22 PM ^
Elite programs need great players. However, without great coaches even great players and teams of great players struggle to win. It takes two to tango...great coaching is the priority.
December 7th, 2019 at 10:23 PM ^
Well I'm pretty sure it's not blaming losses on refs, bagmen, steroids, academics, etc. Either man up and admit your failures or do something about it. Pretending like everything is just fine is moronic
December 7th, 2019 at 10:24 PM ^
OL an DL.
Wisc is beating OSU right now with power on the lines.
Wisc is the only team in the big 10 to put more OL in the league than OSU in the last 4 years
December 7th, 2019 at 10:24 PM ^
hmmm hasn't worked so far...
Stick to the status qou and keep doing cellys for 9-10 win seasons.sounds better...
December 7th, 2019 at 10:25 PM ^
The chances of returning to RR level dumpster fires if JH were fired is ~98%. First, firing him would set off the vast majority of influential alumni and start another civil war within the fan base/alumni base. Second, the coach wouldn’t be accepted by a majority of the fan base. Third, considering the overall state of the program today, you better have a clear upgrade ready to sign - and I don’t believe one exists that can actually be hired.
Seriously, he came to a multi year losing team and immediately put it back to a top 10-15 program in yr 1.
December 7th, 2019 at 10:49 PM ^
I think a lot more alumni are tired Harbaugh than you think.
December 7th, 2019 at 11:15 PM ^
If that's true then that's incredibly depressing. I have no problem with him.
December 7th, 2019 at 11:53 PM ^
Is there really much of a difference between winning 5 and 9 games. Either way you arent accomplishing your goals. People act like we have so much to lose. What has Harbaugh done here? Beat the bad big ten teams and lose to OSU badly.
December 7th, 2019 at 11:58 PM ^
Yes there's a huge difference between being a pretty good team that's trying to make it to the next level and being a bad team that doesn't have a clue.
And btw Michigan has beaten good teams under Harbaugh.
December 8th, 2019 at 12:43 AM ^
Yes. Is there a difference between Michigan and Illinois? For fucks sake.
December 8th, 2019 at 6:42 AM ^
Alas, someone's brain has been replaced by this simple algorithm:
if (wins >= 12), happiness = 100
else, happiness = 0
December 7th, 2019 at 10:26 PM ^
Not to hijack the sarcastic thread...
but the secret to an elite team is finding an elite quarterback. The top 6 QBs in the sport (in no particular order) are: Burrow, Hurts, Tua, Lawrence, Fields, Herbert. 4 out of 6 will be in the playoffs. One is injured and the other won his conference.
Michigan hasn't had an NFL level QB in over a decade.
December 7th, 2019 at 11:45 PM ^
I agree.
But it takes both the right qb's and offensive staff. Harbaugh could have done better on that front in his time at Michigan and I think he recognized that and handed the keys over to Gattis. I'm excited to see what he can do next year with McCaffrey. I think Dylan has a higher ceiling than Shea.
December 7th, 2019 at 10:31 PM ^
Yea but you’re bitching about bitching...so that’s not helpful.
Also, couldn’t you throw this as a comment somewhere? I’m not sure this needs it’s own thread.
December 7th, 2019 at 10:33 PM ^
Bag men!
December 7th, 2019 at 10:34 PM ^
How willing are you to relax academics and or cleanliness?
December 7th, 2019 at 10:38 PM ^
Give up watching Lions and feel free. Oh and the lion jinx will not carry over to Michigan.
December 7th, 2019 at 10:43 PM ^
I thought the answer was whine, cry, and blame everything else such as academics, OSU cheating, lack of DTs instead of our own team's preparation.
December 7th, 2019 at 11:50 PM ^
Ohio State has better players.
If their players are adequately prepared, they kick an adequately prepared Michigan's ass.
December 8th, 2019 at 12:55 AM ^
Ohio St has Kevin Wilson.
December 7th, 2019 at 10:45 PM ^
Is this sarcasm meant to imply that clapping like Hoke and having an endless stream of posts by Mineral King that say “come on guys!” is what makes you elite? (No offense Mineral King.)
Because I don’t think that works either. It’s like a blog banner: None of this impacts the teams. We’re really not that important, fellas.
December 7th, 2019 at 11:02 PM ^
Yet we have posters like you who keep posting shitty threads like this.
December 7th, 2019 at 11:16 PM ^
So you are okay with Brown? Enjoy then
December 7th, 2019 at 11:29 PM ^
I blame Pitbull.
December 7th, 2019 at 11:29 PM ^
Just shut this board down.
Or at the very least give up this bullshit nonsense that somehow Michigan fans are more evolved than those who root for different schools.
What a fantastic collection you have here.
I’m out. Mods, delete my account. It’s embarrassing to have been affiliated with this.
December 7th, 2019 at 11:33 PM ^
So instead of just leaving, you have to publicize your announcement so that everyone knows you're leaving. Okay...
Bye, Felicia...
December 7th, 2019 at 11:39 PM ^
You’re doing it wrong. You have to start a thread requesting it. They’ll never hear your cries for help from the bottom of a random thread.
December 7th, 2019 at 11:56 PM ^
Don Brown = OVERRATED
December 8th, 2019 at 12:53 AM ^
Apparently Jim Harbaugh too.
