Wow, I thought they'd at least wait until October 1 and save themselves $7 million or whatever. I'm not a fan in general of in-season firings, but I guess having him as a dead man walking for two months wasn't too appealing.
If I'm Alberts, I don't touch anyone associated with the Frost regime, no matter how much the players lobby. They've got to get the stench of Frost out of there completely.
September 11th, 2022 at 1:46 PM ^
I'm not sure too many original NU staffers are left after Frost cleaned house to save himself last offseason.
Think Mark Whipple wishes he was still at Pitt?
September 11th, 2022 at 1:47 PM ^
I could be wrong, but I would not be surprised if they throw the bank at Urban Meyer. Even being a POS human, he wins, and that fan base and Athletic Department is desperate.
September 11th, 2022 at 1:57 PM ^
I wouldn’t even blame Nebraska if they went all in on Meyer. He’s a sleazy douche, but he wins, and he’s pretty good at building very solid recruiting and assistant coaching foundations.
If they get him, they know it’s a 5-year rental at most, but he’s prob set them up as a solid Big Ten West power in that time.
He would also potentially interfere with Ohio State recruiting as well (though to a small degree) maybe.
September 11th, 2022 at 2:55 PM ^
Well, Tom Osborne and Urban Meyer both had great success recruiting murderers, so it would be on brand.
September 11th, 2022 at 4:26 PM ^
I understand the sentiment, but Meyer has a tendency to walk into a program that already has so many of the pieces in place (and Nebraska May have some of those)…..but walking into Zook recruited Florida with Chris Leak, and then Tressell recruited OSU with Braxton Miller is different than walking into Nebraska with a lower talent level than the best of the conference (I know BiG10 west caveats though).
I just think to his comments about being surprised at how he felt like he had to prepare for “Alabama” each week as an NFL coach, and how he was losing his mind over losing preseason games, like he was unaware he couldn’t just get Trevor Lawrence and win big instantly like he’s been used to.
Im pretty sure he even walked into a pretty nice roster at Utah as well now that I think of it.
…..I admit I’m a sucker for Urban Meyer gossip…..

Kinda surprised they didn’t wait until October 1st when his buyout drops to officially can him, but in the other hand, not really. Between now and then seems like such an insurmountably long amount of time, especially with three games in between.
Hate Frost and am glad to see him fail miserably, and am sort of sad that his comedy of errors has officially ended, but also felt legitimately awful for Nebraska’s fanbase. Those shots of their fans looking hopelessly dejected following the missed field goal to end the game honestly gave me no joy. I think we all know that horrible feeling here. Really curious as to who they’ll end up with next. It can’t get much worse for them, right?
September 11th, 2022 at 1:40 PM ^
Did they fire his mom, too?
September 11th, 2022 at 1:46 PM ^
Nope. She's the interim head coach.
September 11th, 2022 at 1:41 PM ^
Wow, Scott's Mom is really gonna be pissed.
September 11th, 2022 at 2:16 PM ^
Post this one last time:
September 11th, 2022 at 1:41 PM ^
Somewhere, Carol Frost is drafting a scathing letter.
September 11th, 2022 at 1:42 PM ^
Damn.
Rather enjoyed watching them shit on themselves weekly/yearly.
September 11th, 2022 at 1:44 PM ^
You’ve done the impossible. You’ve made me believe that Finebaum is more of an idiot than I previously believed.
I stand corrected. It was Brando.
Doesn’t matter. Finebaum repeated it. I stand by my Finebaum idiocy statement.
September 11th, 2022 at 1:46 PM ^
But this quote was from Tim Brando
September 11th, 2022 at 1:52 PM ^
He's no smarter.
September 11th, 2022 at 1:55 PM ^
The tweet in question comes from 2018, I believe this may have been an approving blockquote from Finebaum.
So Finebaum is still an idiot.

The next time the "dick with ears" says anything intelligent, record it, will be the first time. How does he get those "dumbo"s" out when pulling his head out of Saban's ass?? That would be a tremendous project at proctology 101!
September 11th, 2022 at 1:47 PM ^
Now there's a man who knows his football.
September 11th, 2022 at 1:49 PM ^
This aged about as well as an Avocado in the sun
September 11th, 2022 at 1:42 PM ^
But Tim Brando said he was a winner?
September 11th, 2022 at 1:43 PM ^
Fire 🔥 Frosty! Hail!!!
September 11th, 2022 at 1:43 PM ^
And we have a winner.
Basically no choice after yesterday, and that says a lot given the natural inertia at the program.
September 11th, 2022 at 1:43 PM ^
Frost tanked to get that cool extra $7.5M in the buyout. Truly an outstanding move.
September 11th, 2022 at 1:43 PM ^
So that's $375K/day for the rest of the month. Nice work if you can get it.
September 11th, 2022 at 1:48 PM ^
So that's $375K/day for the rest of the month. Nice work if you can get it.
I make that much working from home! You can too!
September 11th, 2022 at 1:51 PM ^
In Scotty's case, he'll be *not* working from home.
September 11th, 2022 at 1:59 PM ^
I can see Scott Frost doing one of those shady YouTube ads over the next 3 weeks saying “Learn my secret to generating 6 figure daily passive income. Sign up and learn how I do it!”
September 11th, 2022 at 1:44 PM ^
Wonder how his mom feels.
September 11th, 2022 at 1:44 PM ^
Don't let the door outhit you on the way out.
September 11th, 2022 at 1:44 PM ^
I heard all the Husker fans wearing popcorn bag red and white striped overalls took up a collection after the game to raise the extra $7.5 million.
September 11th, 2022 at 1:44 PM ^
Did the AD say to him
"You 're Frosted!?"
September 11th, 2022 at 1:50 PM ^
Cue CSI: Miami intro music.
September 11th, 2022 at 1:44 PM ^
When you can’t wait 3 weeks to save several million dollars you know you are desperate to fire a guy.
September 11th, 2022 at 1:45 PM ^
Whoa. That was fast.
September 11th, 2022 at 1:45 PM ^
Really shocked at Frost's failure at Nebraska. There was no reason to believe that he wouldn't be a great coach there. But apparently he hit his ceiling as either a non Power 5 HC or as an offensive coordinator. I do really like him as an offensive guy and anyone who wants to have a good offense built around a dual threat QB should be calling him up.
September 11th, 2022 at 3:14 PM ^
Me too. I thought he had acknowledged reality and P5 coaching realities by hiring a real OC this off-season. But it was the defense that got him fired. RichRod level defensive incompetence Saturday.
September 11th, 2022 at 3:19 PM ^
Would have been right at home in the Big 12, where that sorry ass school should still be to this day...
September 11th, 2022 at 1:45 PM ^
Well, that's no fun. I mean, you are taking a lot of good laughs away from the rest of the B10. Who does that leave us with besides Kelly?
September 11th, 2022 at 1:48 PM ^
Eddie Munster seems to be applying for the new whipping boy position - at least for us
September 11th, 2022 at 3:20 PM ^
Frames does some pretty laughable things at least a few times each season, so there's that
September 11th, 2022 at 1:46 PM ^
Time to promote your special team's coordinator and give him the interim tag.
September 11th, 2022 at 1:46 PM ^
I feel bad for him. He had his pick of jobs and went home to try to fix the Nebraska football program. We had a front row seat on how tricky coming home can be. I really hope lands a new job and finds some success.
Yes, he says some stupid stuff and didn't help himself as a result.
September 11th, 2022 at 1:47 PM ^
Difficult to imagine this turning out any other way, short of it happening in three more weeks.
There’s a lot with Scott Frost to not like. And, truthfully, he did bring a fair amount of it on himself. Still, he came back to the school that he loved to try and return it to the national relevance he enjoyed while he played there, and he failed. That, if nothing else, tugs at my heartstrings a little bit.
September 11th, 2022 at 1:47 PM ^
He was so bad they'd rather pay him like $8mil extra to fuck off a few weeks early, LMAO
September 11th, 2022 at 4:55 PM ^
That’s like 4.5 Iowas worth of offense!
September 11th, 2022 at 1:49 PM ^
Well deserved. He sucked
