But also because Rutgers is bad. O'Korn got everyone excited doing the same thing against Purdue. I obviously want Peters to sustain this success, and I think he has more upside and is more likely to. I'm just responding to the guy above saying he was going through his progressions, because he really wasn't.

I saw him go through progressions a few times. Beyond that though, the issue isn’t throwing to the first read. It’s more about how long a QB is locked into a receiver before he throws. JOK telegraphs who he’s throwing to. If the ball gets out quick, defense doesn’t have the same opportunity to react regardless as to whether it’s a first read or not. If he goes through progressions even occasionally, it will make the defense to hesitate reacting too aggressively to his first read as well. I though the defense wasn’t reacting nearly as well to Peters.

Peters missed a couple throws but made a bunch more plays. He should be the QB rest of the way and incumbent starter next year. Hopefully Walker/Isaac/Onwenu are okay.

Offensive line is clearly improving.  They dominated. Peters results were mixed but better than O'Korn. Next year could be fun.

Mixed results eh? He was 10/14 for 124 and a TD which was a 71.4 completion percentage, 8.9 yards per attempt for a 169.4 QB rating.

Those are not mixed results. But yeah, did me make a horrible pass? Yes. And had 3 other incompletions. But mixed? Nah. That's pretty damn good.

Where are the mixed results?

just from memory...

1) shanked the 4th down pass to wide open receiver.

2) near pick six on his 1st (?) drive.

3) underthrown wheel route.

4) muffed handoff and had to keep the ball himself. (this may be the stuff that's kept him on the sidelines?)

yes, every QB makes mistakes - even in a great performance.

loved him standing tall in the pocket. imo, JOK was skittish and ran away from protection some times. Peters looked very promising. but i think it's ok to say results were mixed.

i'd still give him an A from my pov!

Couple balls today where Peters didn't get on top of the ball as much as he needs to and the nose of the ball was up. But again, nice to be pointing this out rather than the sheer inability of the QB to physically play the position in this offense.

- Peters making routine throws look.. routine. Here's to hoping this wasn't just Peters' Purdue game
- Walker getting some carries and looking good doing it
- 300+ rushing yards

Bad stuff is Perry (?), Onwenu and Isaac all went out.

The Team is nothing if not compelling. Onward!

the most balance on offense all year.   Higdon and Issac looked great, as did Walker.  Chris Evans made a really nice touchdown pass catch, and Peters looked smooth with good touch on his passes and up to the challenge.

Finally we have a QB we can excited about. He will have a bad game but he seems to have the tools to be really good down the road. Harbaugh guys are in almost all the important positions. All those people who said Peters is transferring, he is not food mentally etc can take a hike. Future is here and it is exciting. Go Blue! Beat OSU.

I have a suspicion that this thread will be Peters-centric.

No, not in that way. Not like other threads.

I was really impressed with Brandon Peters and the immediate energy that came to the offense though. Not flawless, but much improved performance overall.

Was hitting check down receivers.. He took what the defense gave him and that’s all we need .. can’t wait for him to get 1st team reps all week

This offense looked dead vs worse Ds than Rutgers. Today's offensive performance wasn't great but after Peters came in, it was functional at the basic level you expect from a decent Big Ten team. Nothing world-beating about it, but with O'Korn in this could have been another 21-17 type nailbiter.

I look forward to this board’s threereactions this week: -Maizen concern trolling about why it took Harbaugh so long to play Peters and people agreeing -The extreme overreaction with people predicting we win out and challenge for a playoff spot -People comparing this to O’Korn’s Purdue game and doing more concern trolling (probably also a Maizen thread)

Genius idea Switch he QB and win the game. Looks like opposing defenses get stupid when we do that. Bring in Mcaffery against OSU. Win the game. You heard it here first Peters looked great!

Exciting game. This season was always about the future and this is the first time on offense in 2017 that it has felt like we were really trying to build something for the future. No doubt there will be a reality check against a better opponent but that's fine. At least there is more excitement for the future. Not just Peters, Walker too and was nice to see Nico (and Aubrey Solomon on D) play more.

For the first time in I don’t know how long I was excited to watch our offense with BP out there. A threat of pass and the ability to check down or read quick progressions was the key.

It really could just be he wasn’t ready. If there’s any doubt you don’t throw him in vs Penn State. Maybe question why he didn’t get snaps against Indiana, but M did win that game and you don’t really want to throw him out there for the first time on the road either . MSU was JOK’s game coming off the heels of a promising win vs Purdue.

I mean, they could have thrown him in earlier, but Harbaugh is being cautious for good reason imo.

Watching our O line mash Rutgers’s d line’s face into the turf asking “how’s the turf taste loser?” was hugely gratifying. Thoughts and prayers for Big Mike because he was crushing dudes. Re: Peters, I’m choosing to be happy that we appear to have a functional QB instead of upset we burned at least one game most likely (MSU) not starting him. Thank God
