This will be the repository for hot takes regarding the offense and offensive playcalling.

Three posts in a row, you are trying very hard to say JJ is bad at throwing. I see SEC games and I see their WRs making incredible catches. Did you watch Bama game? Bryce Young is good but his WRs bailed him out multiple times. JJ is not perfect but don't keep trying to shove a narrative that it is JJ's fault.

I saw M receivers drop like 5 balls that we literally watched OSU receivers catch earlier today.

Id be curious what the UFR shows but I feel like I remember 5-6 passes hitting players in the face/hands/numbers and the WR's dropping all of it.

JJ throws a big boy ball and it doesnt look like these guys are ready for it.

It's possible that a little subliminal cognitive dissonance is happening with our receivers... We have relied on the run game primarily, so they might not have the same sense of urgency that other receivers have with other programs. It's not overt, it just seems like they know their routes and catches aren't as crucial to the outcome of the game.

Just my 2-cents (which probably isn't worth half of that)!

Yeah, the long throw was on McCarthy for sure. Anthony had so much space even the slightest underthrow was an easy catch.

Meanwhile there had to be 5 other plays entirely on the receivers. They better get their shit together, because if I'm an opposing DC I'm making Michigan best us through the air going forward.

Let’s not forget all the Shartan BS these guys went through this week. I was expecting a team that came out flat and going through the motions and that’s what we got. JJ has and the receivers have got to be better, period. If Schiano and his 2 stars can rattle us then it’s only gonna get worse the last 2 weeks. The sky isn’t falling, but the Offense isn’t in its best form minus Corum and Edwards.

I think maybe it's time to stop saying we don't pass only because the run offense is clicking because when the run was struggling a bit in the first half, the pass offense couldn't come through. The pass offense just stinks and I don't know why. Feels like no receiver can get separation and JJs accuracy hasn't been as great either

Got a lot of the throws we wanted to see, JJ made a lot of them pretty well, and there were a lot of drops.

Glad they’re working on it in live games. Tighten up the catches.

It was a day that was tough for a lot of teams. Take the W and move on.

Thank you Corum and Edwards!. JJ made a few good passes but there is still no breakout game. The play calling was much better. Red Zone plays were much better and Michigan scored TDs.

RZ offense improved. Even with missing players, they just blew out Rutgers. Rutgers came to play and BC didn't seem full go. Still had a heck of a game. JJ made nice throws but we're not caught. I thought he had more good throws today's even if they were not caught. Glad to see a WR getting a TD in RZ. We should be using DE as a receiver more. That guy is good. Hayes missing time made a difference in the first half. Overall, impressive second half and the coaches definitely worked on RZ. Still needs a bit tweaking but we are getting there. Rutgers weren't projected to be too bad in D. Happy to be in this position.

I mean…maybe if UM could have started prepping the WRs in literally and of the last 9 games, maybe the WRs could be a tad better? Very troubling to see the WRs play like thus far. But boy did the offense as a whole took a beating. Hopefully they can get healed up before The Game. Yikes.

Way too many drops in this game.

And the offensive play calling is just gross right now. No rhythm in the passing game and it seemed like it was a struggle getting calls in tonight. Undefeated yes, but there’s some flashing warning signs that can’t be overlooked.

We have a (p)ass game that falls short. Too many drops of catchable balls, poor route running that doesn’t allow for separation to help out JJ. Just not reliable under pressure and not a real threat, just serviceable.
