Rumors: Florida St trying to join the Big Ten within the month

I looked everywhere and didn't see this posted yet. Lots of rumors that Florida St is looking to join the Big 10 within the next month. Appears to be just rumors at this point... but often when there's smoke, there's fire. I guess they are (rightfully) angry about being left out of the CFP and perhaps they feel being in the ACC was part of the reason?

I think they are basically the dude at closing time at a bar trying to go home with anyone at this point. They want the SEC more, but also aren’t going to say no to the B1G if she’s mutually interested either.

Overall, I’m expecting the SEC and B1G to just eat away at their choice all of the “free agent” schools out there over time until they both have ~24 teams each.

I assume FSU, Miami, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, and Oklahoma State all somehow go to the SEC within the next 5 years.

The B1G grabs ND, Virginia, UNC and Pitt/Duke.

  • Duke is intriguing because they usually suck at Football/Dominate Basketball, but they just lost the source of their dominance in coach K - so they are a bit of a wild card.
  • Pitt is pretty average overall, but is a natural rival for Penn State and is a great academic institution if that even matters anymore.

The Big12 and what’s left of the ACC eventually merge to become the little brother conference of also-rans.

This was on my feed yesterday. I think this is very short sighted of FSU. They should be trying to join the SEC.

You know, there was a time when Florida State, Florida and Miami (FL) were perpetual college football mammoths and media darlings.

All the major networks loved them. Sports media had a special love-hate for them 24/7.

It's weird how they have kind of faltered to being less relevant, and then this latest unforgivable aggression against the Seminoles.

What good does transferring to the Big Ten do if Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State do a "peace out!".  Then FSU has effectively transferred their wares to the "Nueva BIG MAC Conference"

Muy mal!
