Or. Could be a deliberate disinformation ploy by Day to soften our team, then come out blazing.

We are winning anyway.

If it isn't a trick... there is no way he is playing.  Anyone who has had a broken thumb knows it would be close to impossible.  Even if it were on this non-throwing hand.

If it is broken and he ends up playing, he will be full of more drugs than a horse at the Kentucky Derby to make it through the game.

Tell that to Ben Roethlisberger.

Sorry to burst your bubble but I played QB and had two broken fingers, complete break on pointer finger with side splint and fracture on middle finger, that I got in the previous game and I had one of my best days throwing. Was I in pain? yes, did it cause me to have issues on my non throwing hand? 100% but I took about 100 snaps pre game both under center and gun and coach and I focused on just maintaining control, nothing fancy.  There is an old saying in sports, be leery of the injured or sick man. Point being is they don't get "loose" with movements, they focus on absolute fundamentals and try to stay under control.  I'm not saying Fields is going to have a career game but this whole idea that he is screwed is just ridiculous.

It was some dude on a message board who claims he has a friend who's friends with a member of Fields family.  Doesn't seem to be the best way to spread a misinformation campaign.  Then again, I'm not a Michigan grad, so what do I know?

Just can’t help yourself can you. Someone starts an OSU thread and here you come running. Your whole fan bases unhealthy obsession with Michigan would be enough for a restraining order against a husband from a wife. But then again we aren’t Buckeye fans so what would we know about restraining orders.

Well Mr Spielman, you could have been a Michigan grad.

Anyways what's wrong with Bucknutz' post here? He is saying if Day is trying to start a fake rumor, you might try and do it somewhere where it is more likely to actually circulate. I hope he's right. For a while it looked like OSU had scrapped any reads and was just giving it Dobbins after the fumble on which Fields took a helmet to the hand.

To my dismay, it appeared he got more and more comfortable as the game went on. THEN  he twists the ankle. To my dismay again, he is casually, almost jokingly talking to the PSU QB after the game not appearing to need any sort of medical attn.

Devin Gardner also broke his foot at some point during the game; adrenaline probably got him through the rest of it. If Fields has broken his thumb well before the game, he's not playing.

That's a big if, though--I think it's likely to be the usual pre-game bullshit and that Fields is at worst a little banged up.

Sorry but this thinking is fucking INSANE to me.  Do you think for one nano-second OSU gives any pause to the 2016 win because Speight got banged up at Iowa?  Do you think they've every once considered "hey, that 2017 victory doesnt mean as much cause it was John O'Korn at QB?"  Or look back at 2012 and say "well if Denard's elbow isnt a disaster we might've lost that one."  Or the 2013 game with Devin Gardner playing on a broken fucking foot and still almost winning?

I want to beat them and would LOVE it if Fields, Dobbins and Young all come down with the 24 hour flu on Saturday and cant go.  I will give absolutely no shits about the win nor will anyone else other than the lunatic fringe of Michigan fans who think wins are somehow more "manly" if we beat their best players.

I want to completely agree with this, except.....  Ohio State has positioned themselves so that they can lose this game and still make the Playoff.  If they flat out sit Fields so that he isn't injured further, be it thumb or ankle, to be healthy for the BTT game, a win would lose its luster a little bit for me.  Not because other people would say it wasn't a "real win," but because it would symbolize that the rivalry has become so lopsided that they are sitting players to essentially rest them for the post-season, and that the college post-season itself has messed with historical rivalries so much that we have arrived at this point.

Do not get me wrong, it would be great to beat them and it would feel good, but if Fields sat out for "precautionary reasons" like Tom Brady in Week 17 and then he played and they beat somebody down the following week, it would take something off it for me.

Candidly I dont care.  I dont care if they suit up the marching band and send out the tuba players cause it's long, long, LONG past time we beat them.

I just checked the record books and the five games I mentioned in my post have zero asterisks next to the final score so it looks like healthy starting QB or no healthy starting QB, the game counts the same.

lol

Michigan could lose 30 years in a row and people would still say shit like this. How about we just beat them once? Would that be okay? Can we just have one nice thing? I don't give a flying fuck how it happens. As long as 11 dudes in scarlet and grey take the field, I'm gonna take the W.

We can only hope. Wouldn't be surprised if he's dressed on gameday and does practice drills pregame. How effective he'll actually be remains in question.

Remember last year when our guys, Gary, Winovich and Bush were ailing. They were not 100% for that OSU game, someone can correct me if I'm wrong about this.

Even in 2015, for all the shit that Durkin gets over his game plan, the bigger problem was that we were basically out of nose tackles.  Mone went down preseason, and then when Glasgow got hurt we just couldn't hold up in the interior.  OSU would wait until our "backups" (which I think included a former 4th string DE) were in and just tempo us with power runs so we couldn't get the starters back in.  Once again, the Indiana game showed them what to do, because once Glasgow was out, Jordan Howard ran over us so fast that he scored too early and gave us a chance to tie the game afterward.

OSU's problem this year is that they are, for once, pretty thin at QB with three transfers (that I can think of) in the last couple years.  If Fields can't go I don't think they have a plug-and-play QB ready to step in like they did in previous years.
