Rico Beard said on the radio today Donovan Peoples-Jones isn't playing this year
Is he just trolling or is there anything to this? I hope he's trolling but he sounded serious. I assumed whatever kept him out during the spring would be resolved by the time the season rolled around so this was news to me. Not trying to start a panic as it's odd an MSU insider would have this info but was curious if anyone knew what is going on and why these rumors seem to be out there.

I think the board was rough on him at times, but he was also combative with people who pointed out when he was wrong (and he had that rant after the ND game that didn't make a ton of sense) and rarely admitted that what he heard were oftentimes just rumors. Instead he often tried to pass them off as truths, and frankly a lot of those were controversial and/or player-centric (e.g. someone is leaving, someone else is feuding, etc). Again, I think this place attacks people too often, but he also wasn't some babe in the woods who was unjustly taken to task.
That said, I generally think this place massively overreacts to everything negative that gets posted about sports because the comment section, as it does every off-season, attracts only the addicts (like myself) and the people who otherwise were drowned out during the season by the more rational of fans.

Umbig11 is legit. He's not always right, but he does have some access.

I'd say he snapped about a year ago. Before that, he was mellow and just stating the facts. Over the past year, less facts and more antics/fighting with users. It almost seems like his account was hacked or given to someone new.

There's a big difference between a definitive "he's not playing in 2019" and "his status is uncertain, etc". Some people just infer the worst and jump to conclusions.

If he hasn't had a surgery, planned for a surgery, or significant injury like a muscle or ligament tear there is very little to no ability to guarantee that a person will be unable to play.
