So, you're saying that we should only be irritated or indignant about officials visibly, observably supporting the other team if we play well enough to deserve it?

Wrong is wrong, whether we played spectacularly or poorly...

It’s getting really tiresome seeing blogs / posts / tweets blaming officials after almost every loss in multiple sports. There is no big ten conspiracy against Michigan. The officials aren’t perfect, and in some cases it’s worse than that. But people need to take their tinfoil hats off and stop their bitching.

I am fine with officials missing a call or two. I have huge issues with them changing the way they call games to allow a team a defensive advantage by looking the other way at hand checks. This is a common issue in College basketball.

Call a game 100% all game and I also think before the game officials should get with the coaches and let them know how they are going to call it(ex. Call it tight, let them play, zero hand checking, etc)

there are things in games that get noticed and when you watch basketball and one team is getting called for ticky-tack fouls and the other team is mauling guys and not getting called that is one of those glaring, ringer give aways that games arent being officiated equally. i am not blaming the refs for causing us to go cold from the field, but when you cant drive without getting fouled or go for a layup/dunk without getting hammered you start to take bad shots from deep. when they dont fall that effects the good shots as well. its not just that the refs lost the game for us but it didnt help that they clearly seemed to be in favor of one team over the other

has been playing in the league for like 10 years. I watched the play live and it was an organic occurrence where Dakich thought he made a play and the ref was shaking his head like “nope.” It was clear the two were familiar with each other and it was in good fun. Let’s not reach here, we lost that game because we played at the level of a bad junior high team in the second half. The refs had nothing to do with it.

This is really petty. We played horribly in the second half. I'm all for blaming refs when appropriate. I don't think this is appropriate. One of the ugliest halves of basketball I've seen us play, and that says a lot.

I wish I could downvote this but the video is covering the downvote button.

This is stupid. Refereeing had nothing to do with the loss. Besides, as others noted, it's fucking Dakich.

Bitching about the refs even in football doesn't really appeal to me, but it's infinitely dumber when it comes to basketball and Beilein teams are routinely called for fewer fouls than opponents.

It's less common than screaming and arguing, but I see plenty of smiles and congenial interactions between players and coaches in sports.

As an official you want to promote sportsmanship on the field/court, so you say good job and you pat a player on the backside. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the official and Mike Webber exchange but this was completely different. This is the opposite of promoting sportsmanship. The ref celebrated a play. I agree that this isn’t the reason we lost the game and I’m not hinting that the officiating was unfair, and I’m not saying we were cheated, but an official should not act like this...ever. Even if this was an NBA All-Star game I would say he’s out of line. Ridiculous.

wasn't like that man.  Ted TV is who he is, and that is not going to change, but in the context of the interaction it was not what it appears to be.  If Dakich would have been playing for us, the same thing would have taken place.  It was the equivalent of a ref saying "way to hustle" as an observation after a knock out of bounce.  It was seriously the most innocent thing I have ever seen and the fact that we are making anything out of it is ridiculous.

But it was also hard to listen to the commentators down the stretch only talking about what osu needed to do to win.  So one sided.  I don't get it.  A lot of touch fouls too.  Let 'em play.

I didn't hear that at all, either.  I heard Tim Brando slobbering over Michigan for the first hour of the game.  Jackson did not appear biased at all either, and was raving over Michigan when we worthy of rave.  I think that what happened in this game is that Michigan jumped out to a big lead and then mailed it in and when it occured to them that Ohio State was going to, ya know, play the whole game, the had no way to get the momentum back.

It had nothing to do with refs or the announcers.  It was a piss poor coaching job by Beilein and a complete black hole where senior leadership is supposed to be.  Robinson and MAAR have to take emotional control of this team or this season is going to end poorly.  MAAR, in particular, can score the ball and needs to become a ball dominating presence when we need baskets.  Both of those guys disappeared, again, and Wagner was a train wreck.

I hate to say it, but it is back to bubble watch.  This team better figure out a way to beat UCLA or they are in trouble already.

Man for dipshits on this board. No one said anything about it being why Michigan lost but if that doesn’t strike you as messed up, well I already know what most of you putz-oes are probably like in real life. Does your mom let you park the 2002 Ford Tausrus in the garage when a snow is coming down? Jag offs!!

Thank you. Amazing how many people jump straight to that. No one is saying we shouldn't have lost, but a ref doing this should be unacceptable. Of course, those fans are on the same page as the athletic dept. Welp, we'll just buy more vasoline i guess.

I have way more important things going on in my life now than anything involving this place as I posted about yesterday. Or Michigan in general for that matter.

This place has been a toxic shitshow for months. Even after wins. Not fun anymore to post here. Figure I'd drop this in here since no one else did.

That fire Beilein thread that popped up says it all about the climate of this fanbase. Just not fun to be around at all. It's a game. Get over it and move on.
