Reds Announcer Thom Brenneman Went Combo Ron Burgundy and Jim Brockmire Tonight

Lighten up everybody. I’m sure he was in a spirited discussion about Northern Russia - the lumber capital of the world

The most insufferable announcer in the country.  I dreaded him getting the call of games I wanted to watch.  Because he is a moralizing blowhard.

So I find this hilarious and predictable.

Makes you wonder if he's had rants like this behind the scenes in the past and somebody decided to open up the mic when they felt this one brewing.

Thom’s thyme with the Reds has likely come to an end. 

He may say that’s not who he is but the way he dropped that F seemed pretty nonchalant and easy. Fuck him.

I heard he's speaking at the Republican convention next week now.

He at least owes the courtesy of telling us which city he was talking about.  

Mitigating the "sins of the father" is hell. "Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow, creeps at this petty pace...". This is why each of us needs to look in the mirror...recognize ourselves for who we are...and try to improve what we see.

I like how he pointed out he's a man of faith. That should fix everything.

What’s so odd to me is the fact that I haven’t heard anyone use that term in like 15 years.  Who the hell still talks that way?

The Cincinnati Reds organization is devastated by the horrific, homophobic remark made this evening by broadcaster Thom Brennaman. He was pulled off the air, and effective immediately was suspended from doing Reds broadcasts. We will be addressing our broadcasting team in the coming days. In no way does this incident represent our players, coaches, organization, or our fans. We share our sincerest apologies to the LGBTQ+ community in Cincinnati, Kansas City, all across this country, and beyond. The Reds embrace a zero-tolerance policy for bias or discrimination of any kind, and we are truly sorry to anyone who has been offended.

If he was comfortable saying it to his coworkers, I doubt it was the first time he used it. Which begs the question as to what was their response in other times he's said such things? I'm guessing nothing. 

The mic is always hot.  It's an easy rule to follow, just like "the gun is always loaded."  

Idk Disney World is definitely in the running for that title. It’s was a refreshing realization when hearing this that you don’t hear this type of talk much anymore. Gay people have really come a long way in the last couple decades. 

Considering he called The Horror for BTN, I won't be upset that one less remnant from that game is not on the airwaves. Next up, Charles Davis.

The home run call during the apology made it more sincere.

I have said for years I thought Brenneman was the most negative, hard to listen to announcer in the NFL. Not sure I have felt that way about any other announcer in my life but that said I hate to see someone lose their job/career as much worse things have been done it seems by others who are still employed in the profession. 

Yeah, going to be hard to walk that back.  I also have no idea what context would lead to him saying that.  

Anyway, people usually are themselves when they think nobody is looking. Seems to be the case here (the "I'm a man of faith" statement is also usually a dead giveaway that you are, in fact, only selectively paying attention to some components of your faith).

Cya Thom.  Time to remember lots of people can do what you do

Pride's himself as a man of faith.  I think that goes without saying.

A person hired to speak in public spoke hurtful things about a part of the public. It's not cancel culture, it's someone doing their job badly.
