Rashan Gary in Car with team mates and weed
On ESPN there is an article confirming 3 Green Bay Packer pulled over for speeding and something else “Green” was in the car with them. It’s not legal in Wisconsin.....yet.
According to incident reports from the sheriff's office obtained by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Smith and teammates Rashan Gary and Kingsley Keke were returning from a trip to Chicago when they were stopped for going 81 mph in a 60 mph zone. The officer who stopped them smelled marijuana and told the three men to get out of the car. They were briefly handcuffed.
According to the records, none of the men appeared to be high, and no marijuana was found on any of the men. The car was searched, however, and a duffel in the trunk was found to contain three hollowed-out cigars containing marijuana and a vaping device. Smith, who was the driver, took responsibility. The three were released after he was cited.

"Smelling weed" That was probably BS right there. So many cops just lie about this just as an excuse to search a car. Especially when the occupants are men of color.

Does it seem a little suspicious that the officer smelled weed and then they found what sounds like a small amount in a duffel bag in the trunk? Is it plausible that you would smell that in the car itself?

Smell proof bags are good - especially with the pungent pungent bud these days.

Obligatory "Username checks out."

Edibles are good too. So I've heard.

Bags are a terrible way to store bud. The static pulls all the resin off the buds. And they smell.
Go with glass jars. Only way to go.

Drive more carefully.

I got pulled over driving that same stretch at the same speed (80). Most likely got stopped in the construction zone in Racine County (yep, article confirms). Nice to have a football player salary because my ticket was $415.
Racine County is probably doubling their annual budget with all the tickets they are handing out on 94 while the highway expansion takes place.

Fortunately, no one else in Wisconsin smokes weed, so at least we're saved from that degradation.

Okay.

I wonder how many marijuanas they were going to inject that night.

Hey, how many pots have you smoken?
November 2nd, 2019 at 9:55 AM ^
As long as they weren't high while operating the car (because that's stupid and dangerous), who gives a shit? Maybe it's because there was one of the most trafficked weed dispensaries in the country next to my kids' daycare for a couple of years, but I just can't get too hot-and-bothered by adults having some "dank nugs" or whatever the kids are calling it.

Absolutely shocking. I'm glad we didn't do any of that stuff when I was that age.
November 2nd, 2019 at 10:02 AM ^
Do people still get outraged at news like this?
November 2nd, 2019 at 10:09 AM ^
They shouldn’t.

User.....too easy

None appeared to be high and no marijuana was found on any of them - why were all three handcuffed?
November 2nd, 2019 at 10:10 AM ^
Fair question, some type of profiling happening there.
November 2nd, 2019 at 10:27 AM ^
I've been handcuffed while my car was searched. Long story, and that was 20+ years ago, but not everything is a racial injustice. If an officer is face-down digging through your car, he's not watching you. So you can expect to be handcuffed as a precaution. It's not a big deal.
November 2nd, 2019 at 10:30 AM ^
No. Not profiling. There were three nfl sized players and one cop. Detaining is a method to ensure nothing happens (e.g.flee the scene or attack the officer) while he’s searching

I think you’re right, not matter skin color 3 large men can intimadate
November 2nd, 2019 at 12:49 PM ^
I missed the part of the part of the story where it said it was a single patrol. Looks like you researched the story better than I did. Maybe you were able to read the incident report. My bad. Guess he shoulda called for backup. If he needed to arrest all three surely they wouldn't all fit one patrol car.
November 2nd, 2019 at 11:59 AM ^
Or maybe because they were driving 80 plus mph, which can be construed as reckless driving.
November 2nd, 2019 at 11:08 AM ^
They’re black and in Wisconsin. That’s why lol.
November 2nd, 2019 at 1:46 PM ^
Common practice for officer safety - especially if the subjects are physically imposing (like a bunch of Packers). I’m sure some profiling was mixed in based on race too.

Honestly, I'm at the point where I think all drugs should be legal and high quality and plentiful. I'm tired of doing crappy cocaine. Especially after having a taste of the good stuff(in Bolivia)(YTB)
November 2nd, 2019 at 11:23 AM ^
Of course all drugs should be legal. I legitimately can't think of one good reason why they shouldn't be.
There are infinite reasons why they should be legal, but imagine how amazing police-community relations would be... The police would genuinely only be concerned with crimes, and would actually be seen as friends of the community
November 2nd, 2019 at 12:01 PM ^
Legalize all drugs. But... increase the penalty for anybody committing a crime while on them. In Europe, they're a bit more chill about drugs and alcohol. But there are places in Europe where, if you're caught drunk driving or high driving, you lose your license for life, period, end of story.
You want to do the drug? Fine. But you accept the sterner consequences if you break the law while high.
November 2nd, 2019 at 12:16 PM ^
That's a tad extreme. I'm not condoning drunk or high driving, but much of the extreme negative reaction to it is leftover from when it really was a major issue 40-50 years ago and they needed to scare people into compliance.
I've done a lot of different drugs at this point, and none of them have inspired me to do criminal acts. If addictive drugs were legal and pure, they would be much cheaper so people wouldn't have to steal or commit crimes to get them. As I've become older and seen more of the world, poverty is the biggest driver of criminal acts out there.
November 2nd, 2019 at 10:14 AM ^
One day this won't matter, since no one was driving impaired. One day Big Pharma will give the okay to the lobbyists to push for legalization.

Driving while Black. Pulled over, handcuffed and car searched even though there was no maurijuana detected. Funny that.
November 2nd, 2019 at 10:28 AM ^
You should get banned again, though I’ve been pulled over in that area for no reason and the cop was a dickhead.
November 2nd, 2019 at 12:02 PM ^
Psst... driving 80 plus miles per hour in a speed zone that is not 80mph is grounds for being pulled over.
The more you know...

The crime was driving 80mph. You shouldn’t do that.

Not if he had his State Farm guy with him.
