Gary was carted off. Think they put him back in after being hurt, too. Crappy.

athleticism

NOUN

  1. the physical qualities that are characteristic of athletes, such as strength, fitness, and agility.

How exactly is having a body that's physically capable of actually performing athletic activities without tearing itself apart NOT a physical quality that is characteristic of (better) athletes?

I've trained with a ton of elite (national and international) athletes in a couple different sports and seen a bunch of Olympic sports trainers (medical and performance). Do you know what separates Olympic athletes from just "athletes"? It's not how hard they work or VO2 Max. It's how resistant they are to injury and how quickly they can recover when they do get injured.

There are people who can pull a muscle, ice it once or twice, and then be near 100%. It's amazing to see. On the other hand, there are people with tight muscles and loose ligaments who are almost always at risk of dislocating a joint when they go 100%. Rashan seems much more the latter than the former, which sucks for him.

The NFL's incessant desire to be as global as futbol is proving ruinous to players and fans. They make enough money with the American market, and these inorganic attempts at expanding their brand is getting players hurt and causing angst among their primary consumers.

I forget those London games are on most times. And, let's not even discuss that more than half of those Thursday night games are unwatchable, as well. Hopefully, they will replace Goodell with a more rational-minded businessman when his contract is up.

My confidence in the Packers coaching staff and management is lessening by the day. First, they hire a relatively unsuccessful neophyte to coach an all time top 5 quarterback.

Then, this unproven, lightly accomplished head coach wants to change this all time great QB, and take away one of his best assets (line of scrimmage playcalls).

After that, they draft a young man who has played defensive line all of his football life and takes him out of the trenches so he can roam the field as a linebacker.

Even worse, they play him on a shoddy field, in a meaningless game, and after he gets a minor injury they return him to the game where he sustains, possibly, a more serious injury.

Wow, it's possible that the Lions won't be the worst run team in the NFC North this year.
