Pryor's intelligence is in quesiton

Submitted by MFDoom_ on

read over his quotes and he sounds like he barely made it past a 5th grade education.

on a good note, it sounds as though the knee is still bothering him and is going to for a while. hopefully it hinders his performance this coming season.

"It's never going to be 100 percent ever again for anybody who gets any type of surgery or anything like that. But you should definitely bounce back and be a high percentage and keep going. That's where I am right now, I feel pretty good."

{Coach Jim Tressel said he has no concerns about Pryor's health. Tressel, going into his 10th year, says his biggest concern is that Pryor -- considered by many as one of the top contenders in the Heisman Trophy race -- spends too much time working out and watching film. "The only reservation I have is I'm not so sure he doesn't train too much," Tressel said. "It seems like he's there all day. He's just a worker."} How does Tressel know how long Pryor is training? Sniff, sniff, ... I smell a minor violation.

His intelliegence is in question, and you can't even spell the word?

That being said, we all know he isn't the sharpest tool in the shed, he is a tool though.

That's not true...his research paper on research was very informative.  It was a good read.  It had many pages.  Most of the pages had words on them.

"Research is the most used resource to finding out something you need from school papers to things you want to buy. Research is also used to find cheaper shopping supplies. For instance one store may have had a pricey type of material one was looking for and the other store you researched was a couple dollars cheaper. Coming out of high school I was thinking to my self what I wanted to do for a living and what I wanted to major in to start the quest for my job. Research is also used to find shopping cheaper shopping supplies.

I used the research process to find out what type of job specific major I wanted to major in and what type of job I wanted to do when I graduated from college. I researched different types of jobs, Criminal justice, business, communications, and education. I came up with criminal justice but couldn’t decide between business and criminal justice. I did research on business and did their pros and cons. Then, I did the pros and cons of criminal justice. I came up with in the business world you can either have a good chance at the type of business you want to start or a bad business that won’t sell or bring in money.

Another part of my research I did was the most important factors in the business, was what they want for what they can afford and is there a profit that can help me out to make some extra money. The availability of the job openings, the job entails, the pay hours. I looked up also whether I would have to be in school for along time or not to get a job. Also my personal enjoyment in the job would I love to do every day I woke up to go to work.

With out research I would not have been able to get these types of information for the job that I want to do for the rest of my life. If one would just go and do something with out researching first they could’ve missed something that could have later benefited later on or benefited one more then the other."

It is sadly obvious that Pryor, a college student, either hasn't been given and/or hasn't responded to genuine academic aid in his life. His paper is written at an evidently early-gradeschool-level. Arguably, it is worse than the work of a good first grade student. Seriously. What do you think your first "essay" in first grade looked like?:

"My mom picks me up after school. Then, I go home. At home, I pet my dog and get licked. I also have a snack and watch TV. Dad makes me go to bed early."

All of those sentences, though not complex, are complete and grammatically correct. Moreover, that "paragraph" fluidly links five separate thoughts in a logical (here: chronological) matter. Pryor's essay is not once grammatically correct and never once contains a paragraph whose sentences belong together. I would, honestly, be embarrassed if I had a second grade child and s/he wrote something like that. Sure, I guess I'd be proud that s/he could write about things relatively more complex than her peers ("research"), but I'd be appalled at her mind's dissociation from the concept of logical progression.

At the end of the day, Pryor's academic growth either failed because others expected too little of him and/or because--just like beautiful little girls who grow into stunning aphrodites with zero personality--improving his writing was something for which Pryor never had to care.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I don't root for tOSU players to get hurt so much as for us to beat them. While certainly I would take any win over them at this point, I sure as hell would prefer it with them at 100%.

Let's assume for a minute that Pryor is indeed a moron

He is a moron who starts at quarterback for the five-time defending Big Ten champions. He is the defending Rose Bowl MVP. With the departure of LeBron James, he is arguably the most popular athlete in the state of Ohio*. He commands the respect of one of the largest undergraduate student bodies in the world. He performs for millions of people every weekend, and within two years he'll make more money than all of us combined. Perhaps a moron. But all of those other things.

Let's assume for a minute that the OP is a moron

He can't spell. He wishes injury upon Michigan's opponents. And he puts Cheetos in his butt.

*excluding Rick Nash, of course.

.....that Maurice Clarett was once "arguably the most popular athlete in the state of Ohio."  And that he once commanded "the respect of one of the largest undergraduate student bodies in the world."  Or that he performed "for millions of people every weekend,"  and that  within two years he was going to "make more money than all of us combined."

How is Maurice Clarett doing these days, anyway?

In one year he'll be making more money than all of us combined (no chance in hell he's staying for four years).

In two years he'll be sitting on the bench in Oakland watching Bruce Gradkowski get sacked and wondering why he can't just show up without studying the playbook and dominate the NFL when it worked so well in college.

While Pryor does usually sound pretty dumb in interviews, this article does nothing to further this claim. Sports players routinely use poor english when being interviewed by a journalist. The journalist then cleans up the quotes and puts them in proper English.  This is why you always hear players saying they were misquoted: Sometimes for a journalist it's like translating the quote to another language. I'm guessing in this instance the journalist was just lazy and didn't clean up the quote.

"No, because once my mind gets in the game and I'm focused, nothing's going to get in my way and nothing's going to get in my mindset"

Perhaps his mind is perpetually in the game.

Because only trolls from "rival" teams would take one man's opinion and use it in a way that insults the entire fan base.

And we all know your not a troll, right?  right?

I was under the impression that knee repair normally lead to improved capability.  If he played the Rose Bowl with a significant tear in his ACL, I am very excited to see his repaired knee ability this year.  His statement to the lasting effect is true of most ligament repairs.  In many cases, the mental limitations a player puts on the repair is greater than the physical.  Anyway, more to the point; resepct your team, guy.  Anyone that wants their team of choice's rival to have a gimpy player to improve their chances of winning is a douche.
