Predict the last 6 games

Submitted by TK on October 15th, 2019 at 9:41 AM

I *want* to believe. I don’t think we are as bad as we have looked, but at this point in time I’m still feeling pretty negative about the 2nd half of the season. Would like to hear some other opinions. And yes, I know it’s hard to predict games a month or more from now, but this is my gut feeling at this very moment.

-PSU 28 UM 13. D will keep us in the game for a while.

-ND 27 UM 20. We will play much better but won’t have quite enough.

-UM 35 Maryland 21. The shine has wore off of Locksley.

-MSU 14 UM 10. Uggh I’m having 2017 deja vu.

-UM 28 IU 24. This will not be easy, just like most IU games lately.

-OSU 38 UM 24. We put together our best game plan of the year like 2017 but just can’t keep up again.

7-5. I hope I am very wrong. In a more positive way I mean.

Feelings, nothing more than feelings . . .

Whoa! I feel good, I knew that I would, now
I feel good, I knew that I would, now
So good, so good, I got you.

Love me the Wolverines!

Undefeated the rest of the way!!

Wishful fandom feelings . . .

I agree with everything, except the defense wins the MSU game for us (score flip flopped) and the OSU game is a blowout.  I see us 8-4, 3rd in the division.  JH has this 8-4/7-5 one year and 10-2 thing the next going, which is hopefully better news for next year, but still provides no end in sight to the winless OSU series nor a conference championship unless an act of God causes OSU to lose to two teams in the B1G, neither of which will be to UM.  That seems highly unlikely, so this is what the JH era is...rotating every other year with PSU to see who gets to finish second to OSU in the division.

Last year Michigan was favored against OSU and then that happened. Maybe this year, when the first half of the season would suggest a result like last year's, Michigan will get the victory. Yeah, that's it.

We go 3-3 with one of those being a very fluky win. We continue to bumble around on offense. Since everybody knows we are going to lose the game, the staff decides to actual try to play offense. We see speed in space for the first time all year, they run some tempo, they throw the ball deep multiple times a quarter, they make adjustments, take what the defense is giving them, its everything we have been waiting for all year. We lose in a shootout though because the team can't quite get over the shock of our playmakers actually being put in position to make plays and we have a big drop late that clinches the game.

I think it’s likely we split PSU and ND. I’m hoping if we can only have one we find a way to get the PSU game to give us a shot at Indy. I think we punk Maryland as they’re falling fast. MSU and Indiana will be close but I believe those will be wins because we’re ultimately the better team.

OSU what can you say. It’s silly to predict a win at this point but look at what happened last year. I was sure last year was the year so maybe OSU comes in too overconfident and Michigan has a chip on the shoulder (thanks Mark) and somehow wins The Game. If we can somehow win all the games with exception of ND I’d be ecstatic. The season would be a resounding success especially if we could avenge ourselves against Wisconsin. Then let’s see what happens in a very good bowl game.

Doesn’t seem likely this will happen but there’s a reason they play the games. I have to think the offense will get better at some point. I have to think Shea is better than what he’s shown. I’m hoping we can get back some of our walking injured and be a contender in the Big Ten. Not quite what was hoped for preseason but considering everything and considering we haven’t ever reached Indy would be fantastic.

Start it this weekend. Beat PSU.

Should beat:

MD, MSU, IU     3 Wins

Toss up / lean to lose 50/50

PSU, ND .    1 Win 1 Loss

Should Lose

OSU           1 loss?

My emotional state (because you care):

9-3 Happy enough

8-4 or worse BPONE but worse

10-2 going 2 out of 3 with PSU, ND, OSU and I'm ecstatic.  Would prefer to win OSU and ND.

Since JH has been here, the theme has been that M beat teams that they are favored against and lose when they are the underdog. I don't see that changing in M's favor this season.

Win - MSU, MD, IU

Loss - PSU, ND and OSU

UM 27 - 17 PSU

UM 20 - 13 ND

UM 38 - 10 Mary

UM 24 - 17 MSU

UM 30 - 20 IU

UM - 28 - 27 OSU (D touchdown for us makes the difference)

We win out .....  =)

Loss - PSU, ND, OSU

Lean to win - Maryland and Indiana

Toss up- Staee This game could be an insane rock fight sludge fart festival. Could see Staee doing just enough to win. Lot of time until that game. Maybe Michigan finally gets it together on offense or maybe Dantini loses the locker room and Staee completely checks out.

I believe Michigan will win every game until they don’t.

if they can find a way to beat Penn State they could get on a roll. Would be huge for the program to shut a lot of people up.

-PSU 24 UM 6. UM offense won't cross the goal line. Offense can't run the ball, can't convert 3rd downs. Defense on the field too long. Also turnovers

-ND 31 UM 13. UM can't convert 3rd downs. Defense on the field too long again.

-UM 24 Maryland 10. Michigan wins game, but injuries piling up on D.

-MSU 7 UM 3. This is going to be a stupid game and we're going to be stupid to watch it.

-UM 26 IU 23 2OT.  Wild Thing wins it.

-OSU 45 UM 12. More of the same. No answers.

Don't see how this ends in any other way than 8-4/7-5. A berth in a shitty bowl game. What's left of our skill players sit it out, ends in a loss no one remembers as soon as the whistle blows, and the fanbase enters another offseason of internal sniping and existential self-reflection.

In other words, who cares anymore?

I said 6-0 on these games in the preseason. I'm tempted to stick with it just because. However, I'm going to go with 5-1, second in the B1G East (because I figure the 1 is OSU, or if it's not, they'll win the rest of their conference games, and our 1 will be a second conference loss). And probably a New Year's Six Bowl. (Because the winner of Wisc-OSU in the B1G Championship Game will get the playoffs, and the loser the Rose Bowl [sigh].) Hopefully, our uninjured players will actually play in the game. Not getting an opponent from Florida will help.

9-3.   Loss to PSU and OSU.  Team will probably play their best game under the lights at home against ND giving fans hope , but alas, get stomped against the buckeyes.  I think 9-3 and it will feel much worse than it looks.

31-14 PSU. Defense plays well, but the offense is still a discombobulated mess against teams with a pulse. And its even worse on the road. I've never seen a program of Michigan's caliber that is so much noticeably worse on the road for as long a period of time. Defense is gassed by the fourth quarter and PSU pulls away.

31-28 ND - the team plays better, but ND is fighting for its playoff life, and they're just a better team right now. If Michigan plays to a coin flip next Saturday, I might be inclined to say this is a close win. But ND has something to play for. Barring a miracle on Saturday, Michigan will have all its preseason goals thrown out the window by mid-October.

35-14 Michigan - The Locksley we all know is back. Michigan stops the bleeding for at least a week.

17-14 MSU - I know MSU looks like trash right now, but you know they'll look a hell of a lot better when they come to Ann Arbor. MSU knows whatever lofty goals it had to start the season are gone, so there is only one goal left. And they will spend the next month dedicating solely to this, even at the possible cost of other games. This feels like it'll be one of those ugly games with next to no offense, but Dantonio out-coaches Harbaugh, races out to an early lead, and does just enough to hang on to a win. He gets one last smug comment out about beating us before he rides off into the sunset and retires after this season.

24-21 Michigan - We are to IU what OSU is to us. Somehow find ways to win every year, even in years where it can and probably should go the other way. It will be chaos because that is what it always is, but somehow Michigan escapes.

41-40 OSU - the final kick to the crotch this year. The offense finally plays to its potential, prompting a mass discussion of "where the fuck was this all year," but of course the defense won't be able to stop much because OSU's offense is an unstoppable killing machine. Nevertheless, the game is close, but Patterson commits the first and only turnover of the day, on the last drive, with a chance to win the game in the final two minutes. Throws a pick on the first play of the series right to the OSU DB. Hits him right in the chest. Game over. The fans file out as 50,000 OSU fans all start singing Carmen Ohio in unison all around them. Feels so goddamn inevitable that the game will end this way or in some similar fashion. A quick death is not a luxury we will be granted in this game.

7-5, in some shit bowl against a lower P5 team that will be pumped to be there and excited at the prospect of taking down Michigan, while Michigan shows up not wanting to be there. I'm the pessimist of the group, and I'd say Michigan is probably closer to 8-4 and should beat MSU. But since when has been being the better team on paper meant anything against Dantonio?

This is that fun time of year we grab the vaseline and grab our ankles en route to closing 1-5 or 2-4.  3-3 would be a dream from down here in the bowels of the BPONE.

I don’t think your far off as any win here in out will be a close game. I do think we get past MSU as I don’t think they are all that good either. We will beat them like 17-10 and end up 8-4 on the year and play in something like the holiday bowl

I would not be surprised if they go 1-5 to finish out.  I would be surprised to see them go 5-1.  I put the over/under at 2.5.

This feels more like 2017 with losses to anyone with a winning record.

Beating a highly ranked team on the road would do wonders for Michigan imo. Especially confidence wise. If they beat Penn State, they'll probably run the table imo. If they lose, it's probably 4-2(Losses to Penn State and OSU) or 3-3(Losses to Penn State, Notre Dame and Ohio State).

I want to believe this team is trending upwards and becoming a tight, cohesive unit, but:

Whiteout on the road (we aren't very good on the road this season (PSU 37-UM 17)

ND has played one real road game this season and lost to a team that is much better than we are.  Book is the best QB we will have faced to this point in the season (ND 31- UM 27)

We dominate Maryland 48-13.

No shenanigans with MSU this year.  They are a dumpster fire on Offense. (UM 27, MSU 10)

Indiana on the road, ugh, but defense stands tall (UM 31-24)

Reality shows up and OSU is who everyone thinks they are (OSU 51- UM 20)

So 8-4 which is better than I was thinking after Wisconsin.
