Posbang: Finally, Milk...

Submitted by kdhoffma on

Haven't been able to find milk anywhere in Houston in nearly a week. Happy to report my kids will be enjoying Saturday's game safe, dry and with a tall glass of Coach's favorite beverage. I just wish it were whole. Keep Houstonians in your thoughts and prayers... it's going to be a long recovery for many.

I've seen the devastation here in Florida when the hurricanes rolled thru many years ago.  It is really hard to live with no power, no gas, hot weather, a wet home, etc.  I hope all in the Houston area can get back to a normal life soon.

downvote the post of a man providing milk for his family while/after experiencing hardship from a natural distaster.

On the other hand, we have Glen Mason's formerly Hot Wife.   No longer desired by Glen or random blog posters, she has decided to strike out against the very substance that once swelled her with pride.  I guess.

Congrats on finding Milk and the other essentials. In DFW we are going through a gasoline shortage, took 20 mins this morning waiting for a pump and a majority of the gas stations around my office are sold out.  People coming to town for the game should consider using public transit or Uber to get around town.

Glad you're safe, man.

Hopefully, for all the Michigan folks in the Houston area, a win on Saturday will lift some spirits just a bit, even if for a while.

As for milk, yeah, what the dude in The Fugitive's GIF above is doing.

That ought to get you through tomorrow. I've got a 12 year old boy and he goes through a couple gallons a week (I help with that.) He's non-stop with the cereal. But he and my wife eat their cereal oddly. They will fill up the bowl with milk, and only add a couple spoonfuls of cereal at a time to the milk. It's their way of keeping it from getting soggy. I fill up the bowl with cereal first and then drench it with milk. Is this like a toilet paper roll under or over thing? Do people debate this?

I know cinnamon toast crunch is big around here. Wifey bought some Apple Cinnamon Toast Crunch the other day. It's good. Not as good as the original, but still very good.

Thoughts and prayers to all those impacted by Harvey.

"281" in my handle is actually a nod to my area code.  Rode out Harvey in W. Houston.  HEB got bread today as well.  Glad y'all are safe.  Now, I finally have some time to get excited for football!!  What a relief that is :)

I'd go to the game with tickets the way they are...but too much to do here yet.  Still, watching us kick some Gator ass on tv will be a welcome respite from this disaster!

Things on my side got interesting but my neighborhood was relatively unscathed. This is a few miles up from me but it was mind-boggling to see the amount of water in my surrounding area.

Really looking forward to the game and hope the rest of the folks in this area are well.

I live in Houston, but am currently on a rig in the Gulf, so won't be back for a while. If anyone needs to borrow a car for a little bit of time, I have a crappy Dodge Durango that is perfectly available. Just let me know. I will check back here every few hours and can give you contact details. I live in the Memorial Park/ Heights District.

Yeah, I've had a few friends use the car already just to get around or help others. The amount of damage that this storm has caused is still unconceivable; I don't think we will truly have any idea how long it will take for the area to recover due to damage to things like cars, houses, apartment buildings (some are 2 to 3 stories under water), electricity (there are a lot more fires than are being reported), and businesses which are the biggest draw for the city of Houston. It will be interesting to see how long it takes the medical district and major companies to go back to work. The hardest part is seeing all the pictures of freinds/co-workers whose houses are completely ruined. I am also on a rig with a lot of people who live in/near Corpus Christi & Port Aransas, some of their houses are completely gone.

for being safe and sound after dealing with Harvey. Enjoy your Vitamin M (along with some Vitamin S if your grill didn't float away)!
