Alabama would have jumped Clemson. FSU would not have jumped 13-0 Alabama.
December 3rd, 2023 at 12:55 PM ^
Need to watch the Auburn game to see how to slow down Bama.
Michigan not great historically against mobile QBs and at a significant disadvantage in the trenches. Not a great matchup. Need to play field position and keep the game low scoring. Also, slow developing routes / plays are not going to work against Bama, the line wont hold up.
December 3rd, 2023 at 12:57 PM ^
JJ is gonna have to work some magic.
December 3rd, 2023 at 1:00 PM ^
The passing route tree is going to have to change. Michigan doesn't give JJ enough easy throws that you see with other offenses. A lot of 5-10 yard passes are probably what is realistic in this one, I don't think Michigan receivers can get enough separation, nor will JJ have the time to throw it deep.

Saban says he has to work around finals - Give me a break!!
December 3rd, 2023 at 1:00 PM ^
It's hard to remember where to put the Play Doh in the right slot to make a star.
December 3rd, 2023 at 1:01 PM ^
His SID whispers in his ear every time he goes out to remember to say that. Because it's not obvious.
December 3rd, 2023 at 12:58 PM ^
You can watch numerous games this year to see how to beat Alabama. They haven’t exactly been unbeatable
December 3rd, 2023 at 1:12 PM ^
Give-a-damn-Alabama is a much different animal then mid-season rat poison'd Alabama.
Georgia will vouch for this.
December 3rd, 2023 at 12:59 PM ^
We can't have it both ways. We can't say that FSU got screwed and then say that we wish we were seeded against them and not Alabama.
Alabama was the right choice. The fact that we are concerned about having to face them kind of proves that.
December 3rd, 2023 at 1:03 PM ^
Agreed - to be honest Georgia and Alabama have the best line play in the country and I don't think its really close.
December 3rd, 2023 at 1:12 PM ^
We keep saying "FSU beat LSU, while Bama struggled against Auburn!" but ignore the rest of the season where FSU also struggled with bad teams, while Bama also destroyed LSU, and beat Tennessee, and Ole Miss, and #1 Georgia. The case for Bama isn't completely baseless, as much as I wanted to see them get fucked. We'll just have to watch Michigan embarass them in Pasadena.
December 3rd, 2023 at 1:32 PM ^
They didn't "destroy LSU." They beat them 42-28, were behind midway through the 3rd quarter.
December 3rd, 2023 at 12:59 PM ^
Notice how the interview is different with Saban and how the panel is laughing and lobbing softballs to him as opposed to the stuffy interview with Harbaugh.
December 3rd, 2023 at 12:59 PM ^
And..... they gave FSU Georgia in their bowl game. Fanbase has to be lighting torches at this point.
December 3rd, 2023 at 1:08 PM ^
I'm in Tampa. They are.
December 3rd, 2023 at 1:00 PM ^
Utter joke. By this standard, a team that loses its first three but that "you wouldn't want to play now" is in. Just word salad here -- it cannot be justified
December 3rd, 2023 at 1:00 PM ^
This was inevitable. The 4-team college football Invitational (it's not a playoff, it's an invitational) was always flawed.
For 10 years, we've had a FOUR team playoff in an environment where there are FIVE + ONE major conferences (counting Notre Dame in here).
That math was ALWAYS stupid. We simply got away with things for 8 consecutive years (2014 was a joke too, the Big XII getting screwed).
Anyway, at least the system improves in 2024, and becomes more of a playoff and less of an invitational.
December 3rd, 2023 at 1:05 PM ^
lets be honest its 3 TV shows that the networks and the NCAA are trying to max out the $$$
December 3rd, 2023 at 1:10 PM ^
7 TV shows. The Georgia/Florida State Orange Bowl is going to have some BIG ratings now too (certainly a hell of a lot better than Georgia/Louisville would have done).
December 3rd, 2023 at 1:17 PM ^
Penn State gets to get out of the shadow of Ohio State and Michigan in a 12 team playoff.
Now if they can just get out of the shadow of James Franklin . . .
December 3rd, 2023 at 1:08 PM ^
Sucks but not at all unexpected. The SEC love is real despite it too only having two top teams but ok. Penalizing an undefeated conference champion sucks
December 3rd, 2023 at 1:10 PM ^
Michigan had the two best wins of the year other than Texas with wins over Penn State and Ohio State because of the context behind them. Change my mind.
Alabama is a 3 loss team without Saban on the sidelines.
December 3rd, 2023 at 1:11 PM ^
There was no way #5 vs #6 would be an AL vs GA rematch. Once I saw the 'Dawgs ranked 6, it was a no brainer that 'Bama would jump FSU.
FSU got screwed and earned to be #4 so it isn't about deserving to be #4.
Good to see the OH State Suckeyes down to #7.
December 3rd, 2023 at 1:19 PM ^
Who does Ohio State play in a bowl game? Oregon?
Could get ugly with Marv and his Mercenaries sitting it out.
December 3rd, 2023 at 1:39 PM ^
If I had to guess, for the other 3 NYD6 games:
- Missouri draws SMU --- there's an "unspoken agreement" among the committee, in that since the SEC got a playoff team, they also "draw the short straw" and play the G5 team. This match-up in the Cotton Bowl, to help maximize attendance.
- Other 4 teams are highly likely to be Ohio State, Penn State, Oregon and Oklahoma. Obviously the first 2 won't play each other:
- Ohio State vs Oregon in the Fiesta, would easily sell-out. Oregon's "local" and all the Ohio snowbirds.
- Oklahoma vs Penn State in the Peach. Both fan-bases would find the match-up attractive, and travel is fairly close for both. These teams haven't played in 36 years, it's been awhile.

1985 rematch baby!
The Boz is still kicking around, surprisingly skinny. Well, maybe not so surprising without the steroids.
December 3rd, 2023 at 2:32 PM ^
One of my colleagues is a Utah grad and CFB fan named Brian Bosworth. We joke about how he's better than "that other Boz."
Would be funny if for a 2nd straight year, PSU's Bowl game had (for me personally) a "Brian Bosworth connection."
December 3rd, 2023 at 2:24 PM ^
I would love to see PSU-OU. That would be a great under the radar matchup (for a NYD6 at least)
December 3rd, 2023 at 1:22 PM ^
I’m not sure I follow. The #5 team doesn’t automatically play the #6 team in a bowl game.
December 3rd, 2023 at 2:07 PM ^
FSU wasn't going score more than 3 touchdowns against anyone, today's version of the Seminoles are best defense, with wrost offense.
They didn't get screwed.
December 3rd, 2023 at 1:19 PM ^
The on-air personalities are very sensitive about fan feedback on Twitter.

When Joey Galloway is on TV
When he's talking, all the old-schoolers tell their kids to let go of the antenna.
December 3rd, 2023 at 1:47 PM ^
The spineless committee couldn’t stop from bowing in front of the sec and undefeated fsu had to take a backseat to psycho Saban.
December 3rd, 2023 at 2:06 PM ^
Media salivating over Texas' "dominating" performance yesterday. They beat #18 by 28 points
Media blah about Michigan's performance yesterday, pointing out they had less offensive yards than Florida State had against Louisville. Michigan beat #16 by 26 points
It's all about offense and points for these people, the committee included. That's part of why the committee dropped FSU. Regardless of who deserves to be in, you have to feel for the FSU players.
December 3rd, 2023 at 2:10 PM ^
Amateurs always undervalue defense. Those in the know don't.
December 3rd, 2023 at 2:33 PM ^
Booger tried pointing that out today.
December 3rd, 2023 at 2:08 PM ^
Joey Galloway is being downright complimentary of Michigan.
Ewwwww.
Creepy.
December 3rd, 2023 at 2:44 PM ^
Cotton Bowl: Ohio State vs Missouri
Peach Bowl: Penn State vs Ole Miss
Orange Bowl: Florida State vs Georgia
Fiesta Bowl: Oregon vs Liberty
December 3rd, 2023 at 2:55 PM ^
If Alabama didn't complete the 4th and 31 pass against Auburn and yet won the SEC championship game exactly the same, does FSU get in over Georgia? I think they were locked at the pat-on-the-head 5 and the Committee was going to pick someone over them, much preferably an SEC team for obvious reasons.
December 3rd, 2023 at 3:24 PM ^
If I'm Florida State I'm turning down any bowl invite out of protest. Fly the team to Pasadena and give em all Michigan gear to root against Alabama.
FSU got fooked.
December 3rd, 2023 at 4:16 PM ^
Both the AP and Coaches have FSU in the top four. I really hope the clowns on the committee are feeling the burn from making such an obvious money play instead of picking the four teams with the best body of work this season.
