Need to watch the Auburn game to see how to slow down Bama.

Michigan not great historically against mobile QBs and at a significant disadvantage in the trenches. Not a great matchup. Need to play field position and keep the game low scoring. Also, slow developing routes / plays are not going to work against Bama, the line wont hold up.

We can't have it both ways.  We can't say that FSU got screwed and then say that we wish we were seeded against them and not Alabama.

Alabama was the right choice.  The fact that we are concerned about having to face them kind of proves that.

We keep saying "FSU beat LSU, while Bama struggled against Auburn!" but ignore the rest of the season where FSU also struggled with bad teams, while Bama also destroyed LSU, and beat Tennessee, and Ole Miss, and #1 Georgia. The case for Bama isn't completely baseless, as much as I wanted to see them get fucked. We'll just have to watch Michigan embarass them in Pasadena.

Notice how the interview is different with Saban and how the panel is laughing and lobbing softballs to him as opposed to the stuffy interview with Harbaugh.

Utter joke.  By this standard, a team that loses its first three but that "you wouldn't want to play now" is in.  Just word salad here -- it cannot be justified

This was inevitable.  The 4-team college football Invitational (it's not a playoff, it's an invitational) was always flawed.

For 10 years, we've had a FOUR team playoff in an environment where there are FIVE + ONE major conferences (counting Notre Dame in here).

That math was ALWAYS stupid.  We simply got away with things for 8 consecutive years (2014 was a joke too, the Big XII getting screwed).

Anyway, at least the system improves in 2024, and becomes more of a playoff and less of an invitational.

Sucks but not at all unexpected. The SEC love is real despite it too only having two top teams but ok. Penalizing an undefeated conference champion sucks

Michigan had the two best wins of the year other than Texas with wins over Penn State and Ohio State because of the context behind them. Change my mind.

Alabama is a 3 loss team without Saban on the sidelines.

There was no way #5 vs #6 would be an AL vs GA rematch. Once I saw the 'Dawgs ranked 6, it was a no brainer that 'Bama would jump FSU.

FSU got screwed and earned to be #4 so it isn't about deserving to be #4.

Good to see the OH State Suckeyes down to #7.

If I had to guess, for the other 3 NYD6 games:

  • Missouri draws SMU --- there's an "unspoken agreement" among the committee, in that since the SEC got a playoff team, they also "draw the short straw" and play the G5 team.  This match-up in the Cotton Bowl, to help maximize attendance.
  • Other 4 teams are highly likely to be Ohio State, Penn State, Oregon and Oklahoma.  Obviously the first 2 won't play each other:
    • Ohio State vs Oregon in the Fiesta, would easily sell-out.  Oregon's "local" and all the Ohio snowbirds.
    • Oklahoma vs Penn State in the Peach.  Both fan-bases would find the match-up attractive, and travel is fairly close for both.  These teams haven't played in 36 years, it's been awhile.

Media salivating over Texas' "dominating" performance yesterday. They beat #18 by 28 points

Media blah about Michigan's performance yesterday, pointing out they had less offensive yards than Florida State had against Louisville.  Michigan beat #16 by 26 points

It's all about offense and points for these people, the committee included.  That's part of why the committee dropped FSU. Regardless of who deserves to be in, you have to feel for the FSU players.

Cotton Bowl: Ohio State vs Missouri

Peach Bowl: Penn State vs Ole Miss

Orange Bowl: Florida State vs Georgia

Fiesta Bowl: Oregon vs Liberty

If Alabama didn't complete the 4th and 31 pass against Auburn and yet won the SEC championship game exactly the same, does FSU get in over Georgia?  I think they were locked at the pat-on-the-head 5 and the Committee was going to pick someone over them, much preferably an SEC team for obvious reasons.

If I'm Florida State I'm turning down any bowl invite out of protest.  Fly the team to Pasadena and give em all Michigan gear to root against Alabama.

FSU got fooked.

Both the AP and Coaches have FSU in the top four. I really hope the clowns on the committee are feeling the burn from making such an obvious money play instead of picking the four teams with the best body of work this season.
