Pete Thamel: OSU BOT to meet Wednesday at 9 AM to discuss Urban Meyer

This is the 24 hour notice OSU is required to give before this meeting can occur. Seems like we might have another Friday afternoon news dump by OSU to wrap up this saga.

Sorry...they will be telling the board verbally today. Not releasing it publicly insofar as I can tell. My mistake, I misread that.

FWIW, McMurphy tweeted it.

Edit: and it’s clearly spelled out in the press release. It’s also total bullshit and a way to get around not having to release anything that’s not written down. There will be no FOIA for this because it doesn’t exist. This cements it...he’s staying.

Yup. This is the same shit MSU pulled during the Nassar investigation. Verbal findings could mean they avoid generating a physical report in order to keep details from the public. MSU staged an sham internal investigation, and it may be the same thing here at OSU.

According to Lucas Sullivan of the Columbus Dispatch:

- Verbal findings from investigation are being presented to committee today.

- President Drake makes the final decision, potentially as soon as Thursday.

- "Two sources connected to the investigation said the likely recommendation is a suspension for Meyer. Drake and the board could also opt for a “time served” punishment since Meyer has been removed from football activities for more than two weeks."

Link to article. No idea how trustworthy this guy is, but from the sounds of it Urban's might get off scot-free

Aye McMurphy, you got anymore of those truth Bombs to splatter on the BOT heads? I have a feeling Urban will get off scotch free or at worst a two game suspension. Such bullshit, but it is O$U. None of this surprises me.

The next place this story is going is what happened to the OSU staffer who was reassigned from Football after having sex with Zach Smith in the OSU building. If she was reassigned due to that incident and people in the administration knew, that would be a problem.

It sounds like McMurphy is trying to dig on that now.

If Meyer doesn't resign before Wednesday, he's staying and will face a suspension.

There is no way OSU allows the findings to go public if they don't have to.  No matter how good the investigation was, the press and public will find omissions and mistakes that will be picked at for weeks, if not longer.

The more time that passes between now and Wednesday, the less likely Meyer being gone becomes.

This! I still think either they are close to a buyout(that’s why they may have announced the board was meeting Wednesday now) or they release a report stating that everyone was in the dark and Zach Smith was this rogue employee who no one suspected of living a double life like this(complete b.s.). Their fans will give Urban a standing ovation like he’s some hero who has been dragged through the mud at the first game in the Shoe. Then more reports may surface during the season and he will step down after the year is over. Either way I do not think he is coaching OSU much longer.

Ira makes a good point when he said if OSU wants to at least pretend they took this seriously, suspend him through the PSU game, which is in PA at night. If they want us to actually believe they took this seriously, then they would fire the guy.

He’s not getting fired. And at this point I don’t think he’s getting suspended either.

He’ll issue some BS public apology which OSU fans will just eat up, they’ll spout on and on about how this is a media witch hunt, petitions will be started to sue Brett McMurphy, but he’ll be on the sideline week 1 and will get a five minute standing ovation when he comes out of the tunnel for the first time.

Winning is placed above all else in Columbus. If this was happening under John Cooper he never would’ve even made it to LOA. He would’ve been fired within 24 hours of that story breaking, and probably left standing on the tarmac in Chicago as the plane back to Columbus leaves without him. But hey, as long as you’re beating Michigan every year, who needs a moral compass, am I right?

At this point, what else can he/she do? I am skeptical of claims like this that have no reporting behind it. Reminds me of message board users who predict someone is going to commit somewhere (aka RollTideRoll). If you are right, you milk it. If you are wrong, you either slink away into a hole or try to explain it away.

I am shocked that nobody has dug into Smith's recruiting.  This guy has clearly displayed that the rules do not apply to him.

I would not be surprised if he cut a couple of corners.

osu is playing with fire if they don't punish that prick significantly....   is there any doubt that there will be plenty of additional Zach stories finding the light of day over the next month?  If they only suspend him 2 games (or time served) and more shit leaks out, osu is going to look like a bigger shitshow than msu.

Its hard for me to believe their new Pres. will sacrifice his reputation for meyer, considering he wasn't born and raised drinking out of the Olentangy.

If Urban stays on fine, but let's skip the part where a year from now we find out he's a changed man.  Florida Urban is the same as Zach Smith era OSU Urban who is the same as post-scandal OSU Urban.  He is a slimy dude who wins a lot of games.

Brett McMurphy is sitting back and cracking his knuckles waiting for the outcome.  He's given Meyer a warning shot and chance to fess up to everything before he unleashes the next round.

So they're going to "verbally" share their findings with the board.  Im sure they're doing that because it's just too inconvenient to type up a report, and not so they can avoid any hard copies that could be FOIA'd.
