Times like this where I am extremely glad that I opted to take the day off tomorrow. Sitting at home cracking open a few beers after an extremely stressful but exhilarating afternoon, watching a very entertaining football game stress free, and knowing that the wife is handling taking the kids to school tomorrow.

I decided back in December to take tomorrow morning off. By noon, I figure I'll be in shape to work. Fortunately, I work from home.

Same here - I knew I'd be up late tonight watching football, so I took the day off tomorrow. Great minds, Perkis, great minds... We have that in common with Jesse Minter, too!

Refs calling this game pretty tight
January 1st, 2024 at 9:59 PM ^
I am pleasantly annoyed that I have to stay up and pay attention to this game. I really should get to bed, but I shall soldier on!

This game is weird. I think Washington is better as a team, but also a better matchup for us.
January 1st, 2024 at 9:59 PM ^
I did not realize Ethan Burkes is a stud already for Texas, too bad we couldn't hold onto him but we have an embarrassment of riches on the DL.

Washington has really good receivers but I feel like Michigan can employ a similar defense that they did against Ohio St. I feel like Ewers isn’t as good as Penix but I’d rather play Washington because I think they are more one dimensional
January 1st, 2024 at 10:02 PM ^
The UW defense isn't as good as Texas', either - at least as far as SP+ is concerned.
January 1st, 2024 at 10:03 PM ^
UW's defense isn't very good until it absolutely has to be, when it becomes the '85 Bears. Deeply weird team.

Odunze's the second WR off the board, right? That guy is so good.
January 1st, 2024 at 10:04 PM ^
Right?
If MHJr is 1, Odunze is a close 1A.
January 1st, 2024 at 10:04 PM ^
If UW wins, Johnson will have his hands full with Odunze.
January 1st, 2024 at 10:05 PM ^
Him or Nabers.
January 1st, 2024 at 10:36 PM ^
It’ll probably be the dude from LSU second. Especially with LSU’s track record with NFL receivers lately.
January 1st, 2024 at 10:03 PM ^
The Washington cheerleaders must hit the buffet hard.
January 1st, 2024 at 10:10 PM ^
You noticed too? Only when it rains.
January 1st, 2024 at 10:29 PM ^
Are they...husky?
January 1st, 2024 at 10:04 PM ^
Damn, Penix throws a deep ball better than anyone else I can remember playing college football. I mean, JC... Dude drops literal dimes.
January 1st, 2024 at 10:06 PM ^
Your comment hadn't popped up yet while I was typing the exact same thing. Well said. Dude is special.
January 1st, 2024 at 10:37 PM ^
He did that at IU as well. Just didn’t have NFL level receivers, nor could he stay healthy. Not surprising given the line he was playing behind.
January 1st, 2024 at 10:04 PM ^
These Washington receivers are terrifying.
January 1st, 2024 at 10:04 PM ^
Damn, Pennix throws a great deep ball. Drops a dime every time. Fun to watch - the guy is amazing.
January 1st, 2024 at 10:06 PM ^
Washington Center is 275 pounds? UM will feast if they get there.
January 1st, 2024 at 10:06 PM ^
Those deep throws by Penix are so nice...and scary.
January 1st, 2024 at 10:06 PM ^
Texas' DTs are why I want Washington to win this.
January 1st, 2024 at 10:06 PM ^
Neither one of these teams is as good as Michigan, or Alabama.
January 1st, 2024 at 10:11 PM ^
I don't think Ewers has a particularly strong arm. He's very accurate, so a successful college QB.
January 1st, 2024 at 10:16 PM ^
I was heartened to see Michigan's Zinter-less o-line hold up better than expected against Bama today. I will look closer on rewatch, but I think our o-line will be a mismatch against either defensive front, Texas or Washington. Yes, T'Vondre Sweat is very good but double him effectively and we'll be alright. Should be able to run the rock effectively.
January 1st, 2024 at 10:19 PM ^
Jones and Henderson were fucking truth! They held their own against two NFL edge's very nicely... I was never concerned about the interior, Barnhart is a more natural OG than he is a OT.
January 1st, 2024 at 10:20 PM ^
Murphy is also incredible. If that's the title game, the DTs are INSANELY good on both sides.
January 1st, 2024 at 10:30 PM ^
Good point, but Texas is 2-deep at DT. I see both of their dangermen getting awful tar'd late in the game.
January 1st, 2024 at 10:32 PM ^
Yeah, we have more depth. But they might have the two best? Which is amazing given how good Jenkins/Graham/Grant are.

Hey, this is the last other games thread of the year. Enjoyed them this year. Thanks to all.

Just saw Washington blow Texas off the ball on 4th and 1
January 1st, 2024 at 10:27 PM ^
Need our TEs to make those catches next week
January 1st, 2024 at 10:27 PM ^
HOLY HELL - Penix MISSED a deep throw! IT CAN HAPPEN!!!!
January 1st, 2024 at 10:28 PM ^
I don't want anything to do with Washington.
January 1st, 2024 at 10:29 PM ^
Keep in mind, UT is a Big 12 team. Defense is optional.
January 1st, 2024 at 10:33 PM ^
I'm just having TCU flashbacks. I don't want a gunslinger type of game. Washington's defense aside, they are fucking explosive. Beat Oregon twice. That's not a fluke.
January 1st, 2024 at 10:39 PM ^
If Michigan played TCU 100 times last year, they'd have won 85. Sometimes things happen.
January 1st, 2024 at 10:28 PM ^
Just keep in mind as you watch this game that the committee screwed over FSU to get the "best four" teams in.
That's right. These are supposed to be two of the best teams in the country. At football.
January 1st, 2024 at 10:28 PM ^
My goodness UW receivers constantly wide open
January 1st, 2024 at 10:32 PM ^
Simple 4 man zone, and they dropped a LB late. They have to worry about the run with LBs and safeties. Michigan won't have to do that against UW - they can play the OSU defense. DL will handle the UW run game, which isn't awe-inspiring, while dropping 6-7 all night. Also, Will Johnson, Mike Sainristil, and (probably) Rod Moore are better individual players than the UT DBs.
January 1st, 2024 at 10:36 PM ^
Game for Mikey and W2J to get a couple picks maybe?
January 1st, 2024 at 10:29 PM ^
Nice catch. Pretty good throw, too.
