OT: Yearly Username Roll Call

Because I don't go flacid

When I signed up back in 2010 I was one of the older people here so I thought MgrowOld was a nice twist on the MgoBlog name.  Pretty soon I'll probably change it to MgrowOlderthanhell and then finally MgoDead although when I do switch to that one my posting frequency will probably decline somewhat.

My avatar is the senior picture of me at Cranbrook in 1977.  Back then I was MgoYoung.  Back in the day I used to have a pic of my wife up in a bikini until the great naughty bits purge of 15 made me change it to something less naughty.  Like me.

Username says it all. I think it stemmed from some mgoboard discussion a while back about race or something, so I ironically used a politically incorrect term as my username. 

Sidenote: If you look up "Orient" in Wikipedia and go to the "Current Usage" section, there is a line under the American English subheading about how "In 2016, President Obama signed New York Congresswoman Grace Meng's legislation H.R. 4238 replacing the word with Asian American in federal law." 

Congresswoman Meng attended UM and was a friend of mine back in the day. 

Okay, maybe the username doesn't say it all, lol.

I worked for EDS back in the day.  At one point they split the company into divisions like E solutions (electronic), O Solutions (Operations), I Solutions (Information), etc. A couple co-workers and I decided we should be Sometimes Y Solutions which soon evolved into Yo Solutions. We even had business cards printed. Now, most things I make up have something to do with "Yo".

After my favorite player, of course.  Speakin' of - ChuckWood - you out there, buddy? Haven't seen you in a while.  Miss seeing that groundhog

After I married Peggy and got the job at Strickland, I knew MGoBlog was the place for me. When I’m not selling propane and propane accessories, of course.

I just did a little word play.  Carolina blue, of course, usually refers to the Tar Heel blue. But I committed some cultural appropriation, hehe, and decided that since I live in the Carolinas and our cheer is Go Blue, that I would adopt it as a user name. I felt it was quite clever.

It's my gmail account that I use to sign up for random things that way it doesn't clog up my person email. 

Bahama because it’s where we vacation every year and the ocean is beautiful there. I would live there if I could.  Mama is self-explanatory.

The only thing I’m worse at than coming up with clever usernames is coming up with clever fantasy football team names. I wanted to post something way back in 2011 so I took the easiest possible route when creating my account. It certainly didn’t occur to me that I would still be lurking here 10 years later. 
 

I need a little help from the board on the avatar   I think it’s the watch that Dave Brandon said he gave to a handful of people when Hoke was hired and that he wasn’t taking it off until Hoke won the national championship. Regardless, I bought one of the watches on Amazon and wore it maybe 2 times. Battery is long since dead, but I still have it

Bend Over, Here It Comes Again

As I mentioned in the avatar thread, sometimes the blog seems like a frat house, ( meant in the best way) thus the name.

I wore a lot of Michigan shirts and when I moved to TX after college it became my nickname by one guy, about the same time I created my account.

Can’t recall why I chose this user name, but I suspect that it might be a remnant from the early days of Napster when I was considering a name that would allow me to chat with others anonymously. Other names considered: Ann Onnamus, Soodoe Nimm

As for the avatar, I appreciate the Groucho Marx quote: “I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member.” It was a constant reminder to not join the Columbia Record Club, despite all of their tempting ads during my college-radio days back in the late 1960s.

I’m a skateboarder and I Nordic ski via The skate ski method. I ride palace skateboards and call my local Nordic track the palace. So I’m skating at the palace.

Regarding the avatar, I’m enamored with Deer and their different species. I actually ran into two does at my local skate park once. They were caught inside the fence and I had to heard them out to the buck who was on the other side of the fence trying to help them out 

Always liked the name Lazar Wolf from Fiddler on the Roof, but decided Laser sounded much cooler. Like if Lazar Wolf was an American Gladiator.
