OT - What Are You Doing for Mother's Day?

Submitted by xtramelanin on

Mates,

So with Mother's Day only hours away you all better have made plans to spoil the mothers in your life.  In reality its a combination of wife day, mother's day, and GF day, but with no football to miss.  Common gifts include flowers, fancy meals, visits to mom, or in our case, acts of service (clean house for mgowife).

So the simple question is:  What are you doing for the mothers in your life?

With a shout out to our lady mgobloggers who are the moms, happy Mother's day, ladies.

taking her mother out for breakfast. She’s on a literacy bike tour through the Okavango district of NW Botswana while on her Peace Corps mission. 20 or 30 miles between villages on sandy roads in the Kalahari...wish I was there.

Brunch at the Italian/American restaurant down the street from my house in Evansville. Taking the folks at 1:00. Every year my mother asks for the same thing. A fern. On year I got her something nicer. She got mad. A fern it is.

Bought tickets to the Tigers game Sunday. It's also breast cancer survivor game, so she gets to stand up and be recognized along with the rest of the ladies there. My aunt will be there as well with all of her kids. Afterwards, everyone heads to grandma's house.

First mother's day without my mom. I really wish I would've done more on the mothers days while she was around. She never wanted any attention either, but still. Going to hit me hard tomorrow morning when normally I'd be giving her a call or stopping in for a hug. In other news, fuck cancer.

Of my wife telling me I better the hell be careful to not make her a Mom again.

Other than that, cook and bake her favorite foods while she polishes off a bottle of her favorite wine.

tomorrow, breakfast burritos. kids cards. 3 gifts certificates: zip line extreme at royal gorge, bowling for entire family, concert tix for 3 weeks from now and already found the sitter. Probably an early dinner wherever she wants, within reason for a fam of 5.

I’m a terrible son, my mother is in Michigan and I’m in Florida, so I’ll call her. My mother in law lives for these days. She’s a great lady, but I’m sure that days like Mother’s Day will keep her around to 100.
I was told to make dinner for the entire family, and none of that cheap stuff. So some grass-fed, thick cut NY strips with all the fixings it is.

How many shots of bourbon will I have before dinner is the real question? And seeing that my mother in law does not approve of alcohol, how much discussion will follow?

old grandson for the last 9 days, I am sleeping in until forever and then I’m perched in the recliner the rest of the day. Cheers to all the mgomoms out there. Enjoy your day!

Both my sister and I have to work tomorrow so we got the family and my aunt together last night and cooked up a bountious feast for them along with cards and flowers. It was great. As for a gift, I have an edible arrangement going to my Mom Wednesday because Mother's Day is tomorrow and her birthday is the following Sunday so I figured why not split the difference.

I gave her a spa trip today with her mother and took care of our little one for 4 hours. Tomorrow I’m giving her the best gift I could think off, not having to deal with me on Mother’s Day... I’m going golfing.

Having brunch with my husband, kids and my mother. We have a strained relationship but I feel strongly about doing the right thing and making sure our mothers have an event to go to on Mother's Day. My husband's mother will be with her other son, so everyone is taken care of.

My mother is taking me to the hospital for a follow up post bike accident last week. That's the same thing as me doing something nice for her, right?

All the mothers in my life are a blessing.  I already sent my mom a nice collage of pictures of her granddaughter and a nice card.  I am getting my wife a bouquet of flowers and a $30 scratch off ticket.  Gambling is our vice.

I have a lot of “mothers”: mom, stepmom, mother in law, wife, six sisters. I am grateful for each and every one of them, but this day can be...a little exhausting (still enjoyable, of course).

We went all out this year! My kids and I made jars for my wife that contain different colored papers; each paper contains something we love/appreciate about her. My wife loves homemade projects. We are taking her out for breakfast and then seeing my mom with a hanging flower and BBQ lunch for my parents.
