OT - What's your favorite Christmas movie to watch over the Holiday season?
December 20th, 2016 at 10:23 AM ^
One of the funniest movies ever made.
"The Radio Still Works! Clear as a bell!"
"Those aren't pillows."
"Her first baby came out sideways. She didn't scream or nothin'."

Bad Santa all the way. Followed closely by Christmas Vacation.
I'm surprised Bad Santa hasn't gotten more love here. Surprised, and a little sad.

While it is pretty darn funny - I'm guessing when we think of our favorite X-mas movies, we are thinking of those that we love watching with our families. Bad Santa is not quite the family go-to X-mas movie.

The wife and I watched it while getting our Christmas cards ready.
We don't have kids though, although I'd like to think there are lessons for them in that movie as well. Self-reliance, sticking up for yourself, appropriate places to fornicate with heavy women. You know, the basics.

I like them both a lot but would have to give the edge to the first one.

Home Alone is a better movie, but Home Alone 2 made cameos great again!

Muppet Christmas Carol always delivers the goods. Very true to the original book while still working in some Muppet goofiness.

I love the original 1940's Macy's parade footage in it.

In the canon of xmas films, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation is severely overlooked and underrated. Tons of great lines - 'Aint that somethin', Clark? She falls down a well, eyes go crossed. Gets kicked by a mule, they go back to normal'
Scrooged is similarly overlooked in the context of Bill Murray's body of work. Great stuff.
Later dudes.

The scene where Snots, is under the table "yakkin up a bone" gets me every time. I'm sitting in a quiet office trying to stifle the laugh just thinking about it.

He's cute, ain't he? Only problem is, he's got a little bit a Mississippi Leg Hound in him. If the mood catches him rite, he'll grab your leg and just go to town, ha, ha, ha. You don't want him around if you’re wearing short pants, if you know what I mean. A word of warning though, if he does lay into ‘ya, it's best to just let him finish.

but in no way is this movie underrated. It's on the Mount Rushmore of Xmas movies for most people. Now Scrooged is really underrated.

I think in recent years it has finally received the recognition it deserves, but for a while there it was really overlooked...

My favorites have already been listed, but I do enjoy this one too. The pure insanity of searching for that one special toy just hits home for me.

I mean we all know the classics and usual suspects. Anything under the radar (e.g. my KG kid won't know by heart!?)?

Combine this with Struwwelpeter. I'm German descent and I say we are some sick motherfuckers.

I can't believe no one has mentioned Miracle on 34th Street (the original). I watch it every year and never get tired of it
Random interesting fact: despite being a Christmas movie it was originally released in May.
