RIP, Tyler. Tremendous fortitude and composure under truly trying circumstances.

I know we’re all pissed off about the state of the football program, but moments like these help us to remember a few very important things:
1) Football is just a damn game. There are infinitely more important things in this world. Football has no bearing on real life, or at least it shouldn’t. OSU could beat us the next 100 years in a row, and that fact would not change one iota.
2) Life is precious. Never take it for granted, because one day it’s going to be gone.
Rest easy, young man. I hope your family can find peace.

So very well said, sir!
Very sad news!

Football is just a game, but I'm glad it made the end of Tyler Trent's life somewhat enjoyable in a time of pain and struggle. RIP

Thank you. Prayers for the family

Football has no bearing on real life
Except for Tyler Trent. It's what kept him going. He felt purpose because of it.
January 1st, 2019 at 9:07 PM ^
May he rest in peace and may God give strength to his Family.

He was a special young man. He accomplished more in 19 years for eternity than many of us will in 80 years. Tyler will be missed.

Heaven gains an angel (WAY TOO EARLY) and the world is a lesser place.
January 1st, 2019 at 9:31 PM ^
Damn, that sucks. He was a true Purdue fan, and a true college football fan...and way too young. RIP, Tyler
January 1st, 2019 at 9:31 PM ^
Such sad news, even as much as it was apparent that his time on this Earth was soon to end. May his family find peace in the inspiration he gave to many and in the wonderful memories they have of this fine young man.
Rest in peace, Tyler.

Sad news. RIP, brother. Glad he got to see Purdue pull off that massive upset a few months ago.
January 1st, 2019 at 10:56 PM ^
Somehow I think he played a real part in motivating the team to play for him, so he is also credited for the win . RIP
January 1st, 2019 at 10:02 PM ^
He first got diagnosed with cancer as a 16-year old. And lived to 20, even with the chemo.
Can't imagine going thru what he did - he was an amazing inspirational guy. God Bless!
January 1st, 2019 at 10:09 PM ^
There is a true fan for you. Never gave up on his team, just as he never gave up on life.

IIRC the way they were talking about him during the Ohio State game, they weren't sure he would get to that game and definitely didn't think he would make it to the end of the season. So hell of a fight, kid.
As always, fuck cancer.
January 2nd, 2019 at 12:53 AM ^
So glad for him that part of his hospice consisted of him becoming a national legend.
