I watched the last episode of Man in the Arena a few days ago. Overall good series, but the ending of it gave me Last Dance vibes, where like MJ, Brady acknowledges that his competitive side oftentimes takes over and goes into overdrive, maybe to his detriment in other aspects of his life. He mentions that he hopes his kids have the kind of work/personal balance in their lives that he's never given to himself, and that he hasn't allowed himself to just walk away from the game. He alludes to this idea that it's almost as if he can't, and he knows what he's giving up in the process, but he's doing it anyway.

Even if he wins an eighth ring this year, does he ultimately destroy his marriage in the process? Does his family get divided in the process? Will he get to the end of this season and tell himself "Yeah, that one final season was worth it."?

Anywho, I hope this last season ends up being worth it for him. While we'll never know if there were always other factors at play, it sure seems like coming back for this season has put his marriage on life support.

Now Tom will have to decide if he wants to put all of his energy into football or into the long line of beautiful twenty-something year old ladies standing outside of his door.

As a divorced man, one shouldn't assume a divorce is bad news.  Especially for the kids.  We (my ex and I) chose divorce because it would be more healthy for our children.  You don't want to raise children in an environment where they only know what an unhealthy marriage looks like.

and as others have said we have no idea wtf is going on.  I fucking hate speculation. Others' incorrect assumptions have led to a whole hell of a lot of grief in my life (and subsequent growth by me😎)
