Steward Mandel: Unbelievable. The five "leftovers" (KU, KSU, ISU, BU, Mizzou) agreed to sign over their share of CU/NU's buyout money to UT/OU/A&M.

Sports Talk San Antonio: Tech & Okie St pissed because KU, Mizzou, K-State, Iowa State and Baylor agree to give their shares of buyout $ to UT, OU and A&M.
STSA also claims Tech is on the phone with the PAC-10. Of course by itself Tech has no leverage, so I don't know about that claim.
So here's to Big XII stability! I'm wondering if Texas is just hanging around for a bit, milking all the money out of the Big XII's corpse before moving on to pillage yet another conference. At this point I'm really glad they didn't come join the Big10. It seems like whatever money they bring is offset by their desire to be top dog.
WTF? I get that UT, OU, and A&M bring in a ton of money to the conference, but for the others to bend over a chair and give them $ for something that comes from conference payouts is beyond rediculous.
Reports say it costs 10 million to bail out of the Big XII. So The remaining 10 teams have 20 million incoming. Or 2 million each. So if you're Baylor, ISU or KSU, that 2 million is likely a fair price to pay to avoid being regulated to some non BCS conference. You lose all your pride when you write that check, but hell you lose a lot of pride in the Patroit League too.
Must suck to be Missouri right now. One month ago it was "Weee, we're going to the B10, hooray!" now they're on the ground squealing as the President of Texas sticks them with a cattle brand.
Relegated.
If that's true, it's just...unfathomable.
That call gave me no reason to believe there's anything stopping that league from crumbling again a year from now.http://twitter.com/slmandel/status/16238407717

You are reading way way to much into this. Texas had a great deal with the Big12, and now it got better. It isn't crazy for them to stay the king of the Big12, instead of being an equal or semi-equal partner in the Pac10 or Big10. Taking money from CO/Neb and then leaving is a tin-foil-hat kind of idea. Missouri and Kansas would raise an holy hell about it and Texas would look like the biggest dickweeds in the world. Not smart if you want to start your own TV network (and want any viewers).
At this point I'm really glad they didn't come join the Big10.
BS. You might be glad, but you would also be wrong. If they would have agreed to a profiting sharing deal with the Big10, you, along with everyone else here, would have been peeing their pants in excitement.
I sure as hell don't/didn't/wouldn't want Texas in the Big 10. We're having a hard enough time winning the Big 10 now. Adding Texas wouldn't help that.
a saggy vagina.
I'm sure theres alot of reasons why people wouldn't want Texas in the B10, but it would make it harder to win the big 10 shouldn't be one of those reasons.
We're in rebuilding mode, but we are still fucking Michigan. We shouldn't be afraid to play anyone, anywhere, at any time. Sack up and Fuck. Shit. Up.
Wasn't it you who used "douchey twatwaffle?" Now this one, too. You're a walking urban dictionary.
If they would have agreed to a profiting sharing deal with the Big10.....
I'm pretty sure ND will come around and abandon independence before Texas would agree to a profit sharing deal.
I think ND is more likely to dynamite Touchdown Jesus before Texas agrees to share the loot equally like us Big Ten commies.
If they would have agreed to a profiting sharing deal with the Big10
That is a Texas-sized IF though. My sense is that Texas knows it could get a better deal being the biggest fish in the pond with the Big-Tex than being on the same financial and revenue-sharing foot as IU or NW. Academically, it is no contest that joining the Big 10 or the Pac 10 would help them, but there are clearly other factors involved.
And yes, adding a nice, open-minded UT would make me pee my pants with excitement; adding a catankerous, difficult UT with a massive number of stipulations and requirements, though, was probably the more realistic version.
I give the new B12 24 months tops before teams start bolting again. And I bet TX knows this and will use that time to launch their own network. Bringing TX into the B10 (or P10 for that matter) would have been a disaster.
Thats why the Big Ten doesn't need Texas. All these sports writers keep saying the Big Ten lost because they didn't get Texas. Screw Texas.
That is a very, very poor sample size of Texas' women...
...but +1 regardless.
You must have never been to Austin. Those are their average-looking women there.
the future Buffs vs. Beavers match up.
Can't wait.
Is nice. The girl on the left? Eh...
This is what Texas did to the other Big 12 members at the meeting...
...the Longhorn smart coeds are hot, too!
take it back.
So, essentially, what you're saying in so many words is that Texas is again proving that perhaps it should not be messed with?
...don't bother with Texas.
KU, KSU, ISU, Baylor, Mizzu just gave UT, A&M and OU the rim job of the year.
Sorry Tech, the only reason the PAC-10 wanted you was because you were part of the package that came with Texas. I hope they realize their going to be in the Big 12 for awhile.
They're.
Texas is the spoiled brat of college football. Everyone wants to go to the prom with her, but she'll only go with the one with the nicest car. The Pac-10 told her "we'll buy you a Ferrari! But we can't afford it right now, and you have to bring all your friends." The Big 10 said "we just bought everyone Lamborghinis, and we'll buy you one too," but Texas didn't like the idea of having the same car as everyone else. She had to have the best. Then the Big 12 leftovers came in and said "we'll chip in and buy you a Porsche, and you'll have the nicest car of us all!" And so, Texas stays with the Big 12, queen of her domain.
