OT: Role of national broadcasts of college football games

Saw Purdue pulled close to ND and thought I would do my annual tune-in to see if Purdue can pull off the upset.  Surprised to find out that all home ND games this year can only be watched by those paying $5 a month for the Peacock network.

I always though ND recruiting was greatly helped by their constant presence on television, especially cake games still broadcast nationally by NBC.  I am sure their current contract is as financially lucrative as in the past ..... but this has to really cut their national exposure down by a large portion of viewers.  It only takes 3 or 4 years out of the limelight before 16 to 17 year olds don't know a lot about you.

In any case will be interested to see how this weekend's Nielsen ratings turn out.

I’ll bet Mike isn’t being forced to cash his paycheck.  Sure, I’d like it if he wanted to do local radio for Michigan games, but we don’t have the exclusive TV home broadcast contract and NBC does, and that’s where the money is.  Take the money and spend it in the Ann Arbor area, Mike.
