OT: Role of national broadcasts of college football games
Saw Purdue pulled close to ND and thought I would do my annual tune-in to see if Purdue can pull off the upset. Surprised to find out that all home ND games this year can only be watched by those paying $5 a month for the Peacock network.
I always though ND recruiting was greatly helped by their constant presence on television, especially cake games still broadcast nationally by NBC. I am sure their current contract is as financially lucrative as in the past ..... but this has to really cut their national exposure down by a large portion of viewers. It only takes 3 or 4 years out of the limelight before 16 to 17 year olds don't know a lot about you.
In any case will be interested to see how this weekend's Nielsen ratings turn out.

Either way, fuck the Irish. It pains me that Mike Turico announces these games, I really like him but he is forced into being an Irish homer.

I’ll bet Mike isn’t being forced to cash his paycheck. Sure, I’d like it if he wanted to do local radio for Michigan games, but we don’t have the exclusive TV home broadcast contract and NBC does, and that’s where the money is. Take the money and spend it in the Ann Arbor area, Mike.

Is Mike a Michigan fan?

He went to Syracuse, but lives in Ann Arbor and is pretty favorable to us.

He called the 2016 Big Ten tournament game when Kam Chatman hit the 3 vs Indiana when he was still with ABC/ESPN alongside Dan Dakich (when Andrew was still at UM) and the way they called it, it might as well have been on Michigan Radio lol

Living in Indy amongst a lot of ND fans they do not like Turico and Flutie calling games. They claim that they both like the opponents more.

I just rent the Notre Dame games on VHS sunday morning from Blockbuster. BUT I dont rewind! TO hell with Notre Dame.
September 18th, 2021 at 5:56 PM ^
Smart- you will save the wear and tear on your VCR motor. But you'll have to pay the $3 rewind fee if the next renter narcs on you. Or buy a separate tape rewinder.

Oh sure, just pass on the wear and tear on the VCR to the next guy. Very inconsiderate.

The next guy will be a Notre Dame fan. I rent strictly for the fact that they will have to rewind hence my previous statement “To hell with Notre Dame”. But also if you have to explain the joke its no longer funny. Luckily nobody will ever read this reply.

To hell with norte dame. Just don't watch them, they're irrelevant to Michigan Football.
