OT: Reggie Bush Says He Might Try to Recruit Urban Meyer to Coach USC

Of course. The only player ever forced to give back the Heisman is trying to recruit the most corrupt coach of all time. Perfect. LINK.

Here's to hoping this never happens. There's something comforting about seeing USC produce a mediocre team year after year. That and I can't stand Urban. Dude is a total scum bag.

College football would be boring without villains such as Urban.  Bring him back, bring him back, bring him back!!!

Have always hated USC [and UM doesn't play them very often] so I can't think of a better place to have him coach.

Besides, that would pretty much cement his legacy as a con artist.

I think a lot seen this happening. If not USC, Meyer will resurface in a prime gig.

Not sure why this is news...  I mean, everyone thought that USC was keeping Helton until Meyer was out of his OSU contract.  I don't think one person that can spell 'CFB' will be surprised to see Meyer at USC next year.  There may be some surprise if he's coaching anywhere other than OSU.

The only schmucks that don't think he'll coach again are tunnel-visioned OSU fans...

The reactions from OSU fans will be entertaining. It was already great when he was first hired at OSU, people were bringing up all of the old posts from buckeye fans after Urban's Florida team stomped them. They thought he was the biggest scumbag con-man in football, but then suddenly turned into a saint. It will be glorious to see them squirm when he is announced as the USC head coach.

I know people inside OSU's athletic dept. This is not just a rumor or wishful thinking. It has legs, but Urban Meyer is wanting to wait a year, before making the leap. FWIW, he is not friends with Gene Smith anymore.

I'm totally fine with this. If he comes in and succeeds at USC again as he's done in past stops it props up the Pac 12 a bit and provides more ESSEECEE competition in the CFP. It also make any backslide from OSU (should there be any) a national story about how great Urbz is and how Day is regressing the program. Also revitalizes the types of players he recruits to go to USC rather than OSU. That dirtbag being anywhere coaching that's not in the B1G is a win for UM.

Urban won't come back to coaching, he retired for health and family reasons. There is no way that those issues would clear up in one year if the right job opened.

Much like John Calipari he is always one step ahead of the law.

NCAA to shortly issue a ruling that not only allows Urban to recruit to USC, it also allows him to openly pay players and eliminates any scholarship limits for him.  It is part of the NCAA's new program to help chronic disease victims who don't really need help.  Those that do, well they're out of luck.

Why would the NCAA need a program to allow Meyer to recruit to USC?  He is currently not affiliated with them, so he can do anything he wants.  And should he pay some 2020 recruits to show up when he gets hired, the NCAA will certainly turn it's head and cough.

Cam Newton continued playing for Auburn despite his dad acknowledging the auction for his services...

Wasn't USC reportedly on the verge of firing Clay Helton last season until Urban announced his "retirement?" I figured this was more or less a done deal already.

Reminds me of my conversation with a SoCal buckeye when he said Urban will never come to USC because they are too unethical unlike OSU, Tressel too.  SMDH.

'82, eh? Nothing says old-timey Michigan fan like being sanctimonious about NCAA shit and over-the-top vilification of rival coaches. Most corrupt coach of all-time? Sure, why not! Who has time to think about these things, right?

I want this to happen just to see the melt down from OSU fans. Urban did not want to stay after the OSU board dared to discipline him. Unfortunately OSU is still stocked with elite players for the coming season. I think there are a few people who post regularly on here that could easily coach OSU to at least 10 wins this coming season.

I'm confused: why do people care so much?

Everybody knew he'd go to USC or ND eventually. He's going to come back into coaching so I'd rather him go to a school where we won't play him until the postseason, if at all

Try? My ass Bush and Leinart are in is war every day and will be in his ear for a straight year telling Urban about SC. I would almost bet the farm he will be the future coach at SC in the next year or so. Remember Urban is also helping or assisting the AD and I’m sure he’s learning the ropes there as well, USC is a dumpster fire and is seriously one gear coach/AD from being at the top again. Living here in So Cal and watching them implode has been great but seeing Punk ass Meyer on the SC sideline is gonna be hard to stomach people. I bet it happens sooner then later.

A large majority of our fanbase would definitely be pissed. I wouldn't be pissed because I think we were on the verge of imploding under Meyer, as extreme as that sounds.

He likely would've retained Bill Davis and Greg Schiano this off-season due to his personal relationships with them. I also think the Fields transfer may have never happen, and we would've been going into spring with Tate Martell as our QB1. I was never high on Martell, and I didn't want to watch an offense with a limited passing attack and a QB that ran 20 times a game again like we saw with JT Barrett.

I don't really care if he goes to USC. He won us a national championship, we've gone 86-9 over the past 7 seasons, and he made us a national recruiting power.

If he does end up going to USC, any of our fans who get pissed at him would need to take back anything they ever said about UF fans crying about Meyer. That's the way I see it.

We all knew Urbs would be back coaching again soon enough, we've seen this scenario play out before.. If it isn't USC it'll be Notre Dame.
