OT - NFL open thread
Aidan Hutchinson records his first career sack in the 1st quarter, taking down Carson Wentz.
There's a bit of a reunion at Ford Field with former teammates Hutchinson facing off against Benjamin St. Juste, who has 2 tackles for Wash in the first 2 Lions' drives.

Hutch with a sack and a bunch of pressure/tackles already
September 18th, 2022 at 3:06 PM ^
Decent Stream?!? For us out of staters? I tried mgo crazy but no luck.
September 18th, 2022 at 1:40 PM ^
How are Lions going to blow this one? lol
I so want them to be good, I'm just used to pain.
September 18th, 2022 at 1:45 PM ^
Go Steelers.
September 18th, 2022 at 2:00 PM ^
I want to down vote this post

Hutchinson with sack #2!
Washington without a 1st down 18 minutes into the game on 4 drives.
September 18th, 2022 at 1:58 PM ^
Hell yeah! I love that they play Billie Jean after.
September 18th, 2022 at 1:56 PM ^
Hutch with his 2nd sack of the 1st half
September 18th, 2022 at 1:57 PM ^
Hutch having a big impact today.
September 18th, 2022 at 1:58 PM ^
Tom Brady, at age 45, is completing 70% of his passes.
September 18th, 2022 at 1:58 PM ^
Hutch and the Lions D kickin' ass
September 18th, 2022 at 2:06 PM ^
The Lions are looking great
September 18th, 2022 at 2:06 PM ^
who the heck is wearing honolulu blue and silver today, and what the heck have you done with the lions?!?
September 18th, 2022 at 2:08 PM ^
This is crazy. Absolutely running it down their throats with no regard. Defense lights out. Like what is this?
September 18th, 2022 at 2:14 PM ^
we all know we have to take even this half of football with a grain of salt the size of the salt mines underneath the city of detroit, but at least for a half they have basically looked and played like an actual football team. nice.
also, goff is a decent QB. he isn't stafford, but he is a serviceable pro and not bad.
September 18th, 2022 at 2:10 PM ^
I didn’t see it live, but from the replay it looked like Wentz crossed the line of scrimmage on the first sack. Did the rule him down behind the line?
September 18th, 2022 at 2:40 PM ^
Thought his 1st sack was an intentional grounding on their 2nd drive.
Anyway, looks like it was a run of 1/2 yard, but us Lions fans will take it
September 18th, 2022 at 2:11 PM ^
Giants attempting to shock the world by going 2-0. We're loving Schon and Daboll so far.
September 18th, 2022 at 2:20 PM ^
Saints continuing to have Brady’s number. Funny thing is New Orleans’ offense really isn’t that good, but their defense knows how to attack Brady and get in his face.
This game could legitimately end 10-3 New Orleans.
September 18th, 2022 at 2:21 PM ^
Give the Lions the Lombardi now.
September 18th, 2022 at 2:24 PM ^
Make that #3
September 18th, 2022 at 2:32 PM ^
I see on my phone the score is 22-0 and turn on the TV, and the moment I turn on the TV all I see are bad passes from Goff and drops. Just typical.
Good thing the Washington Generals are pretty terrible apparently.
September 18th, 2022 at 2:40 PM ^
Should have went in 29-0
That last pass by Goff was a terrible miss to wide open for a td.
September 18th, 2022 at 2:38 PM ^
Well, Sparty Nation...Hutch has officially debunked your NFL bust notions
September 18th, 2022 at 2:41 PM ^
He’s no better than Kenny Willekes…you know, the guy with 2.5 career sacks.
September 18th, 2022 at 2:53 PM ^
Well he is a half sack better.
September 18th, 2022 at 2:38 PM ^
Carson Wentz fucking sucks.
September 18th, 2022 at 2:40 PM ^
The Steelers have no pass rush without TJ Watt.
Mitch Trubisky is, well, bad.
How the hell did an organization pick him #2 overall and ahead of Mahomes & Watson?!
September 18th, 2022 at 2:45 PM ^
Bad advice.
September 18th, 2022 at 2:46 PM ^
That organization is the Bears.
September 18th, 2022 at 3:11 PM ^
I never understood what anybody saw in him or Darnold in college that would make them think they would be good pros
September 18th, 2022 at 4:12 PM ^
Daniel Jones says hello.
...And, somewhere out there, Dave Gettleman is swooning all over again.
September 18th, 2022 at 2:54 PM ^
Lol, Goff has a crosser right front of him running free and throws a covered 5 yard out on 3rd and 6 instead.
September 18th, 2022 at 3:03 PM ^
Have to admire Trubisky for wanting to give his kicker a chance to kick slightly shorter field goals. But 24 attempts, 120 total yards and an interception... we're seeing Pickett quite soon - maybe by the end of this game. So talented, but he's a great example of a guy who seems to be the perfect quarterback prospect, but the NFL game is just too fast for him.
September 18th, 2022 at 3:48 PM ^
Unlikely it'll be Pickett on a short week (Steelers play at the Browns Thursday night).
But if the Steelers drop to 1-2, maybe week 4 (hosting the Jets) with some extra prep is the time to make the switch.
We've seen enough to Trubisky to know we've seen too much!
September 18th, 2022 at 3:13 PM ^
How are they gonna blow this one now
September 18th, 2022 at 3:24 PM ^
As is inevitable when a Lions rookie plays well, Aidan hurt his leg and is clearly laboring. Even more inevitably the Lions hold no one out for precautionary reasons which will make the injury worse until it's a long term one and they have no choice. The Lions training staff being worst in the league is my conspiracy theory on why the franchise sucks.
September 18th, 2022 at 3:25 PM ^
New Orlean and Tampa just lit up. Chris Evans and NO DB Lattiomore got ejected for fighting. Everyone is chippy. 4th quarter just started.
September 18th, 2022 at 3:38 PM ^
Chris Evans?
September 18th, 2022 at 4:00 PM ^
yeah, you know, Captain America… I am awful with names… clearly.
September 18th, 2022 at 3:43 PM ^
Wrong Evans
It was Mike.
September 18th, 2022 at 3:41 PM ^
I wish I got the Lions game where I’m at. The Steelers-Pats game is like watching big ten west games. Giants-Panthers is about the same
September 18th, 2022 at 3:48 PM ^
The Lions are just dog shit. They will never win with WCF on their jersey.
They just miss tackles, make stupid plays, look like they lack attention to detail.
They should be killing Washington.
September 18th, 2022 at 3:51 PM ^
My Colts are awful. Happy for you Lions fans though, this is a fun team to watch already. Swift is a beast, St. Brown a steal, and Hutch falling to them will always be hilarious.
September 18th, 2022 at 3:57 PM ^
Good things are happening for the Lions? Missed XP. Needlessly went for 2. These are the things that usually happen to the Lions.
September 18th, 2022 at 4:00 PM ^
Ron Rivera been consulting with Mel Tucker about when to go for 2
September 18th, 2022 at 4:15 PM ^
Rivera was right. Making both PATs in the NFL is ~84.6% (92% squared) league wide. Assuming OT is 50/50 you have to have a better than 42.3% win percentage if you go for two down 8.
NFL teams make ~49.4% of their two point tries in recent years (which is up). So you win in regulation 45% of the time if you go for two. If you fail (50.6%) you still have another potential two point to force OT. Which adds about 12% to your win expectancy.
Even at the old 2 point rate of 43%, you win in regulation 39.5% of the time and in OT another 12% or so.
September 18th, 2022 at 4:05 PM ^
Honestly I like the decision to tey and end it there, so damn close
September 18th, 2022 at 4:12 PM ^
Classic. Fuck the Browns.
September 18th, 2022 at 4:13 PM ^
GIANTS WIN!!
