OT: Name a good band where all the members are under 40

Submitted by Larry Appleton on July 22nd, 2020 at 9:10 AM

By “good,” I mean you would pay to see them live.

How many are left?  I like Florence + the Machine, but I have no idea how old the members aside from Florence Welch (33) are.

I remember when Jeff Ament (57) of Pearl Jam turned 40 and my first thought was “Geez, maybe they have to break up now!”  But now I’m hard-pressed to find younger bands that are worth the price of admission!

Any “newer” bands I should be a fan of, or is rock really on death’s door?

I really dig Liliac and a group of kids from Australia called Mixed Up Everything.

Covers are excellent and their original stuff is pretty damn good too.

Liliac is heavier and Mixed Up Everything mixes in some Grunge with the Heavy

Corey Wong. Hands down one of the best performers I’ve ever seen, and if you’re in the millennial generation you will love the nostalgia in his shows. My wife and I have seen him twice and we’re not big concert people. Everyone should look him up, his songs will make you happy

Reignwolf. I've seen them twice in the basement of St. Andrews and both shows were fantastic.

Devil Makes Three- They're probably over 40 and they might not be your taste, but I love them and they put on a great show.

Wolf People- Ruins

Rival Sons

Woods

JJ grey and Mofro are old but good

Patrick Sweany- daytime turned to nighttime.

The Band of Heathens

Joyce Manor is you’re into something more on the punk/garage band side.  Listen to their first few albums before the newer stuff. Less refined so I think it’s better.

I mean "rock" is somewhat subjective and I think the target there is moving. But, the wife and I love going to concerts (we tried for one a month pre-COVID) and have fallen for some good, young bands that are somewhere in the pop-rock spectrum (my tastes skew a bit lighter these days).

Hippo Campus

Lovelytheband

Christine and the Queens (more of a solo project)

CHVRCHES

Two Door Cinema Club

Bleachers

Judah and the Lion

To go along with mainstays like Vampire Weekend (them performing their new jam type album live is quite entertaining) and Mumford and Sons

Oh man - a lot of replies already, but can't read them all so some of this may be repetitive (and honestly some may have band members around or over 40 -- but don't care):

The War on Drugs

Gang of Youths

Japandroids

Car Seat Headrest (mainly one guy)

Tame Impala

The Gaslight Anthem

People have already mentioned Halestorm, Greta Van Vleet, and Motionless in White.  Another I would like to add is Trivium.
