Top 100 recruit. Pretty impressive.
December 1st, 2022 at 6:34 PM ^
Listed at 6’5”. I can’t think of another DB that tall.
December 1st, 2022 at 6:36 PM ^
His 247 profile suggests more DE/Edge than a DB. I believe he plays WR and DE in high school.
December 1st, 2022 at 9:02 PM ^
6’5 205 as a high schooler probably means he’s likely to bulk up. At 220-250 thats a DE or a WR/TE
December 1st, 2022 at 6:37 PM ^
Could he play safety? Also, wouldn't be shocked if we were looking at him at LB/Edge
December 1st, 2022 at 6:42 PM ^
Could be.
December 1st, 2022 at 7:43 PM ^
Taylor Mays was 6’3 and 230lbs. He was a pretty good college safety.
December 2nd, 2022 at 4:56 PM ^
Wasn't Ernest Shazor 6'4 or so as a safety?
December 1st, 2022 at 6:42 PM ^
Lists a 10.46 100m.
December 1st, 2022 at 7:30 PM ^
Nice, but he's got some work to do to catch Nyckoles Harbor.

The thing is, football in general requires bulk. Track (his events) require svelteness Unless he’s the craziest physical specimen DB ever known, or a prototype NFL receiver, he perhaps needs to get the Herbert treatment & come off the edge.
December 1st, 2022 at 6:53 PM ^
Ernest Shazor was a 6'4" 230lb safety and is the tallest/biggest I can remember. He was also an All-American at the position.
December 1st, 2022 at 7:19 PM ^
Also one of the best HS players I have ever seen come out of the city of Detroit
December 1st, 2022 at 7:19 PM ^
Good name to remember on Purdue week
December 1st, 2022 at 8:03 PM ^
IF only he had stayed.
December 1st, 2022 at 9:00 PM ^
What was the story on him? He went undrafted after a being an all-american, played like 10 minutes for the Cardinals, and then fell off of the face of the earth
December 1st, 2022 at 11:49 PM ^
Shazor would be an OLB like Ojabo and Jaylen Harrell in today's game. He'd get absolutely torched trying to play safety.
It was hard enough for him in his era.
That said, he'd be a a HELL of an OLB in this defense.

Kyle Hamilton is 6'4" and was picked in the first round last year.
December 2nd, 2022 at 1:32 AM ^
Not quite as tall, but Prescott Burgess was a 6'3" & 210lb. safety
December 2nd, 2022 at 2:18 AM ^
Prescott Burgess was a linebacker.

Turbo-blasting OSU is paying it forward. Young’uns get national exposure, success, and as an added bonus, Michigan connections and degree. Seems like it would be a good selling point.
December 1st, 2022 at 6:47 PM ^
Pretty sure that kid will end up in the corn (Neb). Just a hunch.
December 1st, 2022 at 6:49 PM ^
Sad times when a Nebraska decommit could be our best recruit
December 1st, 2022 at 6:56 PM ^
Comment would make more sense if our recruiting rankings were in the toilet.
There will often be good recruits anywhere based on any number of circumstances.

"Comment would make more sense if our recruiting rankings were in the toilet."
Last I looked we were 21st in the 247 Sports recruiting rankings. That doesn't make sense for the #2 team in the nation. It must be about money, because it sure isn't about on the field performance.
December 1st, 2022 at 8:04 PM ^
2023 recruiting is severely lacking. It’s a fact.

Our last 4 classes were ranked 10,12, 12 and 13. Right now the 2023 class is ranked #21 so a few nice pick ups will put us right back in the same range. If that happens then things are going as good as they can because 10-15 ranked classes is one win away from back to back big ten championships!
December 1st, 2022 at 7:30 PM ^
This is quite sad
December 1st, 2022 at 6:54 PM ^
Pick the Meeeechigan Wolverines please, Malachi 🏈👍
December 1st, 2022 at 7:03 PM ^
By "OT" do you mean On Topic?
December 1st, 2022 at 7:09 PM ^
OT: Cade McNamara CB’d to Iowa!
December 1st, 2022 at 7:14 PM ^
I've been kind of hoping he would choose to go to a nice PAC-12 school so we don't have to play him.
December 1st, 2022 at 7:18 PM ^
Would make sense. Payback for Rudock.
December 1st, 2022 at 7:09 PM ^
Sean Crable!
December 1st, 2022 at 7:16 PM ^
Decoldest Crawford also entered the portal today. Let's bring him in just for the name.
December 1st, 2022 at 8:32 PM ^
Has a cousin called DeWarmest
December 1st, 2022 at 7:36 PM ^
Him and Harbor two 6-5 corners lol
December 1st, 2022 at 7:44 PM ^
Would ease losing the kid from Cali whose name I can’t spell.
December 1st, 2022 at 7:50 PM ^
Wasn't Malachi a villain in Children of the Corn? Then he's required by law to play for Nebraska. It just makes too much sense.
December 1st, 2022 at 9:01 PM ^
I made the joke above but sans any upvotes. /Sadface
December 1st, 2022 at 7:59 PM ^
I believe he will be a DB in college.
I don’t know what you’re basing this on, but he plays WR and DE in high school. Probably has more upside as an edge rusher than a WR but obviously has to put on quite a bit of weight there. I don’t think I’ve seen many projecting him as a DB
December 1st, 2022 at 8:12 PM ^
and I was thinking, "why would an Offensive Tackle project to a Defensive Back in college, is he going to shrink?"
December 1st, 2022 at 9:48 PM ^
I can understand why a young man named Malachi would want to escape the corn.
