OT: looks like we dodged a bullet with former 5* Eyabi Anoma

We were in on some of his early Top Schools lists and got an Official, as I recall. Despite the Biff Poggi connections at St Frances and our need for edge rushing talent, we ended up far on the outside looking in as he went for Bama.

No idea exactly what he's done along the way, but this ain't pretty:

Way back in 1989 I was VP of Operations for a now defunct car rental company.  I had risen from Manager Trainee to Office Manager to District Manager to Regional Director to VP in five years so TRUST me, I was very proud of myself and let everyone know just how wonderful I was at every chance.

Then one day, with my ex wife now 7 months pregnant with our second child (she had just quit work at the Post Office) I got summoned to the President's office at 2:00 pm on a Friday and was told my services were no longer needed and that someone would escort me from the building once I had gathered my stuff.  No worries, they said, I would be paid all my unused vacation time AND they would generously give me two whole weeks severance pay.

Once the shock wore off I was angry as hell and blamed everyone in the world for my situation except one person.  Me.  I was sure this was a conspiricy led by my enemies and once the company learned of their folly they would surely call me back for reinstatement.  But that obviously never happened and the more I thought about things and the more I spoke to ex-associates the more i came to the realization it was me, not everyone else, who was the problem.  That was a tough thing to own but it wasnt until I owned up to my failings that I started to change as a person and become a much better co-worker, employee and subsequently, boss.

Sounds like Eyabi needs to do some self-reflection too on things.

Yeah that doesn’t sound like mgrowold at all......definitely doesn’t do that now at all. I have seen him post now a handful of times after his disrespectful comments about Ace. I would be embarrassed to be around here if I was him. But I’m also not a narcissist either.....

Can't assume the same things would have happened at Michigan.  Maybe he just needed a few coaches that actually paid attention/cared about their players once they arrived.

I doubt Alabama or Houston cares much about developing football players into decent human beings and Michigan Men.

Sometimes its the environment that makes the difference. I would be happy if Michigan reached out to this kid and tried to see if they could make it work. It's easy to judge when we've been surrounded by competence for most of our lives.
