This was a waste of time and not remotely funny   The reference to 2005 was so oddly placed it’s not worth even trying to make sense of it.   And can we find a way to make Pat Macafee go away ?

I was wondering if they got confused with 2007 Michigan. We lost to ND in 2005 but our first two games in 2007 did emphatically change the trajectory of the season. We did end up contending for the big ten title that year too, which is a lesson for everyone that gets (understandably) forgotten

I’m not sure their writers are confusing 2007 with 2005.  Just last year in their emergency room short, they referenced “The Horror” with Texas A&M giving us company and also asking about a time machine to 2007 regarding a ND loss to Marshall.

I think some of you are missing the point while focusing on 2007.  He's lamenting that these teams in the second week still have a lot to play for because a collapse in week 2 isn't predictive of the future.

I imagine that there's plenty of teams that could look at week 2 and accurately feel this way though.  So this is probably more a dig at the Michigan fans who constantly comment in their videos than it is an anomaly.  MSU last year made it to week 3 before the writing on the wall became permanent.

That's why it makes more sense to be 2007. Death said he doesn't look to take out teams this early, Michigan notwithstanding. 2005 Week 2 we lost to Notre Dame but still had a lot to player for. 2007 we were a national laughing stock with the loss to App St and then the absolute blowout home loss to Oregon. It's true that we still could have won the Big Ten and even did go on to have nice bowl win, but come on.

No one outside Michigan remembers Michigan's 2005 season. If they really did mean 2005, that is a serious deep cut for an SEC fan.
