OT: Draymond Green suspended for Game 5

Submitted by Oscar on

Green received a Flagrant 1 for cup checking LeBron after Lebron stepped over Green. Due to Green's accumulation of flagrant foul points in the playoffs, he will be automatically suspended for Game 5.

With or without considering Green's history, how does LeBron escape punishment since he instigated the whole thing by stepping over Green in the first place?

edit: James did get a technical, thanks 1201 S. Main St. for pointing that out.

The point system is garbage. If the fouls is suspendable, then suspend them. But taking a player out of the Finals because an accumulation of bad attitudes is garbage.

Green is just playing like Tom Izzo taught hiim to play: dirty.  I think any time you hit or kick someone in the seeds it should be an automatic ejection and the next game off.

Maybe Green should listen to the professionals he has around him instead of playing Izzo-ball.

because of a bullshit 6th foul much different?

Is this REALLY why you hate the NBA?

Now that it has happened, the calibration of the point total that triggers the suspension will be examined.  Is it too low?  I don't know.  But like the 6 foul limit, it was set beforehand without regard to specific players or teams.

Slaymen Groin accumulating three nutshots in two series is quite unusual.  And it is not at all unusual in sports that the retailiation gets more heavily penalized than the instigation.  Slaymen should have been playing with the awareness that a player with five fouls usually plays with.

Is stepping over someone against the rules? Is it better to step ON that person? I really don't understand why people are upset at Lebron. Draymond Green was on the floor. Lebron had to try to step over him in order to get back to the play. Draymond the Sag-nasty thug he is struck Lebron.

This.  Lebron was just playing bball and stepped over a guy that fell.  They were somewhat tangled, but Lebron did nothing more than aviod stepping on Green while trying to get back to the play.  Green is the one that took it as being 'dissed', whatever the hell that BS is.

I only saw the replay, but this whole situation is enough to turn me off to the NBA again.  Hadn't watched 10 seconds of NBA ball since the Pistons started sucking again (yeah, yeah - bandwagon!), and this is why.  Green is a dirty player that plays hard; if he were a man he would recognize that others play as hard as he does.

He lost his cool like a whiny bitch cuz he knows he's not winning this Finals so he throws Draymond on the ground and steps over him.  Draymond gives him a little tap so what?  That's what LePushoff gets for being a whiny prick.  Say what you want about Draymond but LeBron is the bigger ass here.  BTW did you see what he did to Steph on the out of bounds play?  That itself should've gotten him kicked out of the game.  Welp gotta make it a series somehow.  Steph will drop 40 and GS will win without Green.  Watch.

No excuse to punch a guy in his man parts. This must be a generational thing. I grew up watching basketball where there were hard fouls and full blown fights. No one ever got hit in the nuts. That was off limits. Over the last 5-10 years it has become the thing in the nba to punch another guy in the balls. Don't understand it. Dreymond has single handedly punched or kick at least four guys in the balls in the playoffs. He should have been suspended a couple weeks ago. You can push a guy off with out hitting him in the balls.

There is no such thing as a "little tap" in the man region from a 6-8 250 pound man. Dude, man code rule number #1. Never punch another man in the balls. Period. Write that down. Based on your post, love affair for the Warriors and acceptance of hitting guys in their junk, I would say you are in early 20"s

Lol at Lebron having no other choice than to step over Draymond. I hate Draymond as much as anyone else, but Lebron could have easily just walked around him. The guy James was guarding was the one he was stepping over, so he didn't have to get back into the play. He stepped over him to show how tough he was after Green flopped

"Lebron had to try to step over him in order to get back to the play." He could have easily went around. "Is stepping over someone against the rules?" You must not play basketball, otherwise you would know that it is disrespectful. Google Allen Iverson and the Cavs coach and see what you come up with.

I get your point, but keep Saginaw out of your argument. I grew up there and have never kicked or hit anyone in the nuts. So you can say what you want a it him, but keep the city out of it. A lot of very cool people have come out of Saginaw including Lamar Woodley who has never hit anyone in the nuts either. In fact, they went to the same high school.

NBA is a joke. They ignore Green's repeated offenses when the series may be determined by his suspension, but readily suspend him for way less deserving offense so that they may increase the chances of the series going longer. It's pathetic

say what you want about Greens history of cheap shots but I don't see it this time. reminds me of what the NFL did with Suh where anything close was a foul due to his history.

Silver picking up where Stern left off.

He seemed like he would be a good commissioner but man, he's just as inept as the last.

Not suspending Green for kicking Steven Adams in the groin and then suspening him for the most minor incident he's been involved in is sickening.
