OT: Does anyone else not care about the super bowl?

Submitted by Darker Blue on February 11th, 2024 at 6:06 PM

I love football, I watch High Schhool, College, and Professional football religiously.

But the super bowl seems too over the top. I don't want to discuss the game with my coworker Tracy who believes that a tight end is why you to to the gym.

Sorry for the rant. There has to be more people out there?

I was riding the train home with Ravens fans after the AFC Championship and many of them threatened not to watch although I am still watching

The ads have been okay so far plus...it's the super bowl

I'm working tonight.  If it was Michigan, I'd be getting up real early instead.

I caught a few downs when I went downstairs to get a drink.  Saw the Pacheco fumble.

What do you expect from a Rutger.

I've watched every Super Bowl so there's no way I would consider breaking my streak.

But seldom (if ever) have I been this disinterested.

* raises hand *

I'll watch it since my son is a huge Niners fan and because it's my last taste of football for 6+ months, but the Super Bowl pretty much epitomizes all of the reasons why I prefer college football to the NFL.

Yeah, I can't get into it most years. I kinda like some of the dudes on the 9ers and the exposure of Mahomes/Kelce/Reid has really worn on me. But, this is not a particulary interesting game and even the halftime show is very meh to me. I can't stand the vast majority of the ads.  But I turned it on bc what else is there to do? Actually, one year the game bored my girlfriend and I so much we turned on 90 Day Fiancee in like the 2nd quarter haha.

But. don't be fooled - the NFL wants you to think this overload of bullshit is the most important thing in the world. Don't let them.

Also: HOT TIP: If you're ever out of town this weekend, the Super Bowl is a great time to be on the road. A few years ago, I did NY to DC and Phila to DC and the roads were empty, made record time.

I like and watch college football. I quit following the NFL many years ago. Had nothing to do with Kapernick . I just only watched to see how my fantasy players were doing . I quit FF and the NFL had no appeal to me anymore .

It’s actually a pretty entertaining game. I’m not sure why any football fan wouldn’t be watching. So what if your team (whichever that may be for any given fan) isn’t in it—isn’t that the case most years?

I didn't care about the outcome of the Super Bowl until my wife told me that she read that Tucker Carlson was so wrapped up in Taylor Swift conspiracy theories that he said that he'd kill himself if the Chiefs won. I'm sending him a big knife, gun, sturdy rope and bottle of poison in an overnight package first thing tomorrow morning.

I'm a Lions fan and if Josh did not drop the 4th down pass, the Lions would probably be playing KC in the super bowl. Since I live close to KC, I  usually root for the Chiefs but this Swifty shit has turned me off. I really don't care who wins.
