OT - Deshaun Watson torn ACL

Submitted by 615Wolverine on
Sad to see him go down after having a great rookie season, also Andrew Luck was placed on IR season ending injury today. Gotta feel bad for both especially Watson, he's such a great person.

they seem totally snake bit.  On the other hand, injuries seem to be way up over the entire NFL.  It just seems like players today are just too big and strong and moving at too high a rate of speed for their infrastructures (i.e., bones, joints, ligaments, etc) to handle.

I know it is a different sport, but I heard an interview with Walt “Clyde” Frazier over the summer. He thinks that the reason players are getting hurt more often throughout sports is that they do not rest enough during the off-season. He explained how he did not touch a basketball until maybe a week before training camp. In the NFL it seems they have the players in the facility all throughout the off-season and maybe they need more time to relax and let their bodies heal up before they get back at it with OTA’s.

I think this is a very relevant biomechanical issue. It's an obvious fact that the players today are far larger, much faster, and much more heavily muscled than they were 50 years ago. Are the ligaments and tendons and their attachment points correspondingly and proportionally larger and stronger as well?

Awful!! Not a Texans fan but man watching him play this season has been fun. Slick runner hell of an arm. Really sucks coming off last week's game which was by far the best game in the NFL so far this year. Hope he recovers and comes back at full go next season. By far the most exciting young player in the league this year.

It's incredibly rare for a rookie QB to have that kind of impact in the NFL - Watson's last five games were all solid-to-great. I don't think injuries are up (and Watson's was non-contact in practice), but the QB position has had some notable losses (Rodgers, Palmer - though he was playing very badly this year, Tannehill in pre-season) this year. Plus Andrew Luck was moved to the IR, though this is related to a 2015 injury. At any rate, you have to feel bad for Houston fans this year. Not much has gone right, other than it looks like they have a franchise quarterback once he recovers.

Sucks for him big time, also sucks for my fantasy team.  Between getting the first pick in my league (D Johnson) and now Watson....let's just say I'm on track to have to do something really embarassing for being at the bottom of the barrel.

Is he? I hadn't heard anything bad about Luck, but don't follow like I used to.

I think I feel bad for both of them equally not knowing that much about either of them.

There goes our season down the shitter. Finally, FINALLY find a QB and boom, gone. Every time the defense comes together the offense falls apart. Every time the offense comes together the defense falls apart. Never fails. The rest of the time they both suck.

At least we have the Astros.

I am definitely not a Texans fan, but I really enjoy watching Watson play. I didn't really pay attention to Clemson last year until the National Title, and he was amazing. The only other performance I can quite remember like that - where a QB nearly single handidly willed their team to victory - was the Vince Young show against USC.

I will never understand why O'Brien didn't start Watson all along, but - man - it was cool to see him light up the field. Richard Sherman called Watson the best he's seen. That's some seriously high praise.

I hope he comes back bigger and badder next year, and - in a stroke of good luck - finds his way to San Francisco!  :-)

Watson is not only a very talented QB but the guy is a fantastic person. Watson gave his first few game checks to help those affected by the hurricane. Watson is a wonderful role model and I feel awful that this happened to him. I have no doubt that his spirit and tenacity will see him come back better than ever!! Best wishes from Wolverine Nation!!!
