OT: Clemson's new football facility "Daboland"

Submitted by Maizen on

This is pretty crazy. I find some of the stuff they put (wiffle ball field, bowling alley, etc) completely unnecessary but in terms of the football facility, wow. Got me thinking about the upcoming renovation to Schembechler. I know they've done a few upgrades over the years but really looking forward to seeing how encompassing this weight room renovation is going to be.

I thought Dabo was the natural successor to Saban, whose retirement will come within the next five to six years, imo. He does, however, have one hell of a coaching tree, full of qualified candidates. I think Dabo's legacy and status may be too great to entice him from leaving Clemson. He obviously has to be worshipped near the level Saban is and is guaranteed to retire, should he decide to stay, when and if that offers actually comes, as the winningest coach in Clemson history.

I'm curious about hookers and blow. Actually, I'm hopelessly clueless, having never used either. Obv. Putin has an endless supply of both.

But seriously, how many players (very roughly) go in for hookers and blow? 10%? 25? 50? 75? I know that D-1 athletes have open doors to all kinds of "privileges" and opportunities. But I have no clue how common it is, both at UofM, and on other campuses. Some schools (Miami? USC? Louisville? MSU?) have a reputation for more. Others less. But I wouldn't have any idea.

Well in the 80's there were definitely some players into blow, not that there weren't before or since, I just happen to know for a fact about some of the guys in a particular few years when I hung out with the dealer to the players and watched them buying weed mostly, but some of them coke, all the time, couches and chairs full of FB players there most days. Buy the weed in the living room and the occasional visit to the bedroom to get coke. Big names. Great players.

As far as hookers, they have very little need for that.

the blow is plentiful. I know several prominent D1 players who have used/been offered blow numerous times. Hell, its pretty rampant at the D3 level. I'd place that level at 35%. Hookers not so much. I haven't heard any experiences or stories about that, but alot of the dudes in question don't need hookers, I guess on recruiting trips maybe? Fame kinda follows itself.

I don't know about the blow part, but all of my athlete friends had women throwing themselves at them.  Jersery Chasers was the term in my day.  Unless a guy has zero game or is a jerk there is no reason he'd need a hooker. The Louisville thing is strange.

Yes, there really is something called the 700 Hoboes List.  For those who may remember The Daily Show when Jon Stewart was the host or who remember the old Mac vs. PC commercials, the list comes from a book called "The Areas of My Expertise," written by John Hodgman who often appeared on The Daily Show and who was the "PC" in those commercials.
