Unfortunately it feels like for them now how it was for us this time last year. A lot of their core decided they didn't want to have never beat Michigan and are coming back for one more shot. They still have big question marks on offense, but their defense will be elite again.

I mean, on paper it seems like they'll be better but many of these guys are guys we made non-factors when we played them. Maybe the transfers will make a difference? I mean, they were closer this year I guess.

Kid is projected as a top 15 pick in NFL draft.

No, he's not. He's a back end of the 1st round guy. With that being said, this is like the 5th late 1st rounder or early 2nd rounder who has come back against their own best interest for OSU. So either they're getting bad advice or the NIL is really coming in

Anyway, I'm sure PSU is terrified

(This is directed at the comments ITT, not the OP.)

I get the desire to mock OSU but I don't really understand what is mock-worthy here. They're getting a lot of experienced and talented players to come back. That's...good, right? As noted, it's what we had this year.

As far as that being "copying" Michigan, is that because they are funneling NIL money to their juniors to keep them in school, rather than funneling them to recruits? I mean, they still had a top recruiting class.

I like to point and laugh at them when I can, I just can't seem to find the joke here.

I get the feeling these guys are coming back to save Day's job and beat Michigan. It's going to be a great clash next year; hopefully JJ and coach Harbaugh stay.

During the Tressel and Meyer years of dominance I always thought part of what kept Michigan from getting over the hump (despite great game plans several of those years) was young kids who deep down didn't know/think they could win. Sounds crazy, but dealing with my own kids, and coaching youth sports I've witnessed kids after repeated losses to the same competition beat themselves with poor attitudes and sloppy mistakes at the fist sign of struggle. This coming season will be interesting in Columbus because they are a team full of kids that haven't beaten Michigan and even with all the players coming back I do wonder if deep down they worry they can't win.

The mental/psychological edge that Tressel's and Meyer's teams had over Michigan was just as significant, if not moreso, than the physical, athletic, raw talent advantage. How many of those OSU teams didn't just believe, but KNEW, that they could be down two scores in the fourth quarter and be like "Its okay guys, its all good, we're going to beat these guys." They knew they were going to win because they'd never known anything else.

Meanwhile, on the other sideline, you had a team full of guys who'd never beaten OSU, and were trying so hard to win just this one game, to not make any mistakes. And when you play like that, it inevitably gets into your head in crunch time, and then boom, you make a mistake, and OSU was always right there to capitalize. Everything falls apart and the "here we go again" moans start coming. For us, it didn't matter if we were up by two scores in the fourth quarter. It was always a question of "how are we going to blow this game?"

The mental game in this is so dang important, and at least as of now, Michigan owns the mental and psychological edge in this matchup. When they take the field in Columbus next year, short of any sixth year guys there won't be a single player on this roster who will know what its like to lose to OSU. That counts for a lot.

On the flip side, short of any sixth year guys, OSU won't have a single player who knows what its like to beat Michigan.

The Bucks are all in to win the NC next year because we did this year and that can't stand!  Only problem is they'll still have that stale coaching staff.

Is this osu's post-2020 do-or-die moment? Kinda feels like it. From my perspective at the Game this past year, their O line was moving our D line around quite a bit; the matchup was pretty even for most of the game. I still hope they all go gray at age 24 agonizing over M.

Gonna enjoy the result of the 2023 M season before expending any additional mental energy on those clowns in Bob Evans country.

Its fairly impressive the amount of guys they've convinced to return, but by the same token, Day knows that next year is make or break for him as pertains to the Michigan game. He and everyone in that state knows if he loses a fourth straight, he is g-o-n-e, GONE. So I have to believe he is pulling out all the stops and having that NIL cannon being fired as long and as hard as it can be to get guys to come back.

Its such a weird dynamic now knowing that literally all the pressure is on OSU to win that game. I mean yes, Michigan will always be under pressure to beat OSU every single year, but they'll be walking into next season having one the last three matchups and being the defending national champions. Day literally can't afford any slip-ups in The Game next year, or he will be fired before he gets back to the locker room.

All the pressure is now on him and everyone in that locker room. So yeah folks, let's send one of the greatest recruiting classes in history off to the NFL with zero pairs of gold pants, why don't we?

Normally all this off the field success Ohio is having would make me angry and depressed (in a sports sense- not real life sense).

But after the last three glorious years I’m all lien whatever Bucknuts.  Bring it on!
