OT: Brian Kelly is a jerk to everybody, not just his players

Hidden in a ESPN puff-piece about the new Packers coach is yet another great story of Brian Kelly being a sonofabitch.

"GREEN BAY, Wis. -- On a winter night in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, Matt LaFleur and Robert Saleh thought they were invited to a party at the home of their boss, Central Michigan University football coach Brian Kelly.

Turns out, they weren’t on the guest list.

They were on the worker list.

"We shoveled the snow and parked all the cars," Saleh said. "Then, at the end of the night, we had to go get the cars again."

And then they went back to the tiny apartment they shared as graduate assistants and stood around their kitchen table -- the one without any chairs.

"We decided that when we’re in that position, we’re never going to treat people the way we got treated," said Saleh, now the San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator. "And Matty’s lived up to it.""

Well I'm gonna go then. And I don't need any of this. I don't need this stuff, and I don't need you. I don't need anything except this. [picks up an ashtray] And that's it and that's the only thing I need, is this. I don't need this or this. Just this ashtray. And this ND head coaching job, the ashtray and the paddle game and that's all I need. And this remote control. The ashtray, the ND head coaching job, and the remote control, and that's all I need. And these matches. The ashtray, and the ND head coaching job, and the remote control and the paddle ball. And this lamp. The ashtray, the ND head coaching job and the remote control and the lamp and that's all I need. And that's all I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one - I need this. The paddle game, and the chair, and the ND head coaching job, and the matches, for sure. And this. And that's all I need. The ashtray, the ND head coaching job, the remote control, the paddle game, this magazine and the chair.

This isn’t exactly breaking news, but a good story nonetheless.  Within the coaches circle he’s always been known as an ass.  I remember reading that it was one of the reasons MSU and M never pursued him.

Came here to see if this was posted.  Of course it is.  Well done.

I have a hard time believing that story - is it possible coach Kelly really let his grad assistants think they were invited to a party instead of to park cars!?  Insanity if so.

i just don't understand how they ever win a recruiting battle. who in their right mind wants to be screamed at by an engorged gnome for four years just to play for ND? what's the pitch?

"come to south bend a boy, leave a man-boy with emotional problems!"

as an aside, my friends and i used to call him "prentice" because he looks like a spoiled rich toddler named prentice who is always throwing a tantrum.

Why does this behavior surprise anyone anymore?  Kelly is a douchebag.  Players and recruits have to make appointments to see him in his office for crying out loud.  He’s full of himself.

played for him. Look, he would insult you.  If difference than being tough on you. I do remember him taking the time to see how I was coming along on my PT.  I briefly interacted with him and he never bothered me. Other teammates, especially, the quarterbacks didn’t have anything nice to say.
