OT: Bayern Striker Scores 5 Goals in 9 Minutes
In other futbol news, Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski entered the match against Wolfsburg in the 46th minute, and then what happened between minutes 51-60 is unreal:
51' Goal
52' Goal
55' Goal (hat trick in 4 minutes!)
57' Goal
60' Goal
This leads me to ask--where does this stand in the history of scoring outbursts across all sports?

2nd end of OT means what. This is college football season. No other sports matter

Not sure I would've seen it otherwise.

Me neither. I think this is a great post. It's not like he's just telling us his nephew got on the wait list for Michigan LSA.

Polska!
In terms of outburst I assume you mean # of points/goals in a small amount of minutes. In that case, I think Bernard King had one crazy one back in the 80s. Klay Thompson had one last year as well. (37 pts in a quarter!)
Just googled some NBA ones. I am sure Gretzy did some ridiculous things in the 80s with the Oilers in hockey.

In NFL that Oilers comeback vs Bills in a playoff game (late 80s? early 90s)? was a big one.

taking in lots of sports. Or even an ESPN program.

hat trick in a game 7 playoff that sent his team to the Stanley Cup winning a game 5-4 on the road, scoring the last 3 goals.
Also it should be noted Wolfburg is aweful

England was pivotal to winning both wars and France was pivotal in winning the 1st World War. This is well known.

September 22nd, 2015 at 6:57 PM ^
Yes. The U.S. won both world wars all by themselves.

September 22nd, 2015 at 6:44 PM ^
Not without the Eastern Front and the Red Army...and then the US helped.

All it took was a league change each time (earlier in WWI than WWII, to be sure)!

incredible. That is a very difficult shot to make.
September 22nd, 2015 at 6:27 PM ^
That is an amazing run. It would be amazing in 8 v. 8 U-10 soccer. It also tells you all you need to know about the difference in parity between the decent-at-parity EPL and the laughable-at-parity Bundesliga (and Serie A, for that matter).
Between the diesel emissions scandal at VW and this outburst, it's been a long week for Wolfsburg!

:/
Dortmund has given Bayern a run for it's money lately. Bayer Leverkusen beat Bayern at the end of last year as well.
Bundesliga has also been consistently sending more teams to the knockout stages of the UCL over the last few years (Bayern, Bayer, Dortmund, Schalke) than the EPL.
Finally, EPL teams have a god-awful run lately (Matchday 1: Arsenal, United and City all lost) in the UCL.
September 22nd, 2015 at 7:20 PM ^
Dortmund is also Bayern's feeder team apparently.
Lewandoski, Goetze etc etc
I love Dortmund and despise Bayern's if you can't beat em, buy em bullshit.
September 22nd, 2015 at 10:24 PM ^
Lewandowski was a free agent. Bayern didn't pay a cent for him.
Goetze's buyout was ridiculously low. ~37M Euros for a then-21 year old star in the making? Every major club would have made the same offer. If you're going to find fault anywhere, it's Dortmund's approach of trying to finance an A+ team with a B- budget.
Not to mention that the transfers work both ways. Mats Hummels etc etc
September 22nd, 2015 at 11:24 PM ^
Dortmund has to have a budget equivalent to Wigan essentially due to overspending/bankruptcy from the early 00s to keep up with Bayern.
Clubs like Bayern, PSG, Real, and MC make soccer pointless to watch during the regular season due to the insane lack of parity.
Premier League is probably the most competitive league, and that only rotates between 4 out of 20. Smh.
The fact that Juventus is holding it together (due to their private stadium; great investment) is amazing. But even they're gonna lose Pogba this offseason.

In my opinion this doesn't top 5 soccer goals in 9 minutes, but one of the coolest (cooool story bro) events I witnessed was the Red Wings vs. Caps December 26, 1996. Sergei Fedorov scored 5 goals, including the game-winner in overtime. I believe it's one of the few times an NHL player has scored 5 goals, and may be the only occasion where a player scored all of the team goals in doing so. Either way it sure was an awesome night.

Had a really good chance to get another one in I believe the 68th minute.
September 22nd, 2015 at 6:59 PM ^
That is stunning.
Another scoring outburst, not saying it's the same thing because NBA players score 16 points all the time and a 5-goal game is almost unheard of even in full time, but a moment of my childhood I'll never forget:
Isiah Thomas scores 16 points in 90 seconds.
September 22nd, 2015 at 8:28 PM ^
Reminds me of Reggie Miller's 8 points in 8.9 seconds against the Knicks. Must be something about the Knicks.
On topic, amazing sequence for Lewandowski. Looked like he was playing Fifa on easy mode. Wonder if he'll be on the Team of the Week on Fifa 16.
September 22nd, 2015 at 7:05 PM ^
The only way this kind of thing can happen is a complete lack of effort and interest from the defense.
September 22nd, 2015 at 7:14 PM ^
Did you even watch the goals?
September 22nd, 2015 at 10:28 PM ^
Dante was on the pitch for Wolfsburg and must have experienced some form of PTSD. Dante was on the pitch for Brazil when they lost 7:1 to Germany and was mercilessly taunted by Thomas Mueller et al in the months afterwards.
And this may have possibly been Dante's first game for Wolfsburg since transferring from Bayern. So... out of shape + new teammates + PTSD.
September 22nd, 2015 at 7:11 PM ^
, the interior defense by Dante and Naldo was equally as bad. Lewandowski went unmarked for most of those goals, all it took was a crossing pass or two to find him open again and again (and again and again and again)!
The last time I recall seeing so many goals scored in so short a time was Brazil vs Germany in last year's World Cup, and guess who was playing center fullback? (Dante!)
September 22nd, 2015 at 7:25 PM ^
Bad defense and luck. Goal #3 was pretty much a garbage goal. He got a lucky bounce on #4 that bounced directly into his path as a trailer.
I will say goal #2 was not defended well, but he placed that shot beautifully in the corner.
The last shot was a thing of beauty. Full volley to side netting.
